  1. Go Canadian. http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/americas/12/...s.ap/index.html
  2. One of my personal favourites, The Deep Freeze Defender. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=6973-1
  3. I cannot help but notice that you can replace girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other with dog or pet in the posts in this thread without it really making any kind of difference.
  4. I repeat, regardless of the ease of installation or the safety of the modification a significantly large proportion of users will not install the modification. Using mods to fix game deficiencies in scenarios really becomes a problem when mods change the version of the game, as they do with multiple RTS games. I know this isn't a problem with AoM (to some degree), but it is a huge problem with a number of RTS titles.
  5. Mods do add another dimension to the game and they do help increase the longevity of the game, I do not debate that, but from a scenario design perspective they should never be used to correct a problem or a deficiency in the game. If a scenario comes with a mod the average user will not install it, even if it is easy install and harmless to the game. If the mod is critical to the scenario then the average user will not play the scenario or they will play the scenario without the mod and a large aspect of the scenario will be lost, or the scenario will look foolish.
  6. Modding is never a good solution to a design problem as most players will not install mods.
  7. I primarily design with Empires and Empire Earth editor; I have never really made anything of significance with the AoK editor. The Empire Earth editor thanks to its colour overlay system has an almost infinite amount of terrains to choose from. Personally, I find the Empires editor to be slight lacking in regards to terrains, but it has enough realistic terrains to get the job done.
  8. That is more like desert/cliff.
  9. I didn't want the town to look destroyed so I only damaged objects to the extent that they didn't catch fire. I tried to use a lot of overlapping using damaged objects and normal buildings but its just didn't work. The normal buildings (Greek Buildings, had to be Greek it was a scenario about Athens) looked much too good. I also found the terrains to be lacking, there were no good mud or dirt terrains to be used in a city.
  10. My scenario EUF3 for Empires starts out as a blank map with only water outline details. I then use triggers to place everything on the map. I do this because by designing the map via triggers I can cut down on the total map size by almost half, which makes multiplayer transfer a lot easier. It actually turned out to be easier to edit the map this way. If I decided that a forest was a little too sparse I simply edited a single object definition to make it a little denser.
  11. The AoM editor and the design of the game really do limit what you can create. If you want to create a scenario that takes place in surreal setting AoM is great. Everything looks perfect; in fact everything looks better then perfect. If you want to create something that takes place in the real world you tend to run into to some trouble. For instance, I was once trying to construct a seedy rundown town and I found it to be impossible to accomplish with the AoM editor, everything in the editor looks too good.
  12. I thought you were going to quote the commercial from the Masters Cup when I read the thread title. The radio spot starts off with what is the recording of two women playing tennis. The announcer then asks, "Are these women playing tennis or having sex?" *Pause* "Of course they are playing tennis." The ad then goes on to talk about the Masters Cup.
  13. I finally got a job today. It is working in a warehouse that assembles board games and puzzles. I get paid minimum wage (7.15/hour) and I work 7.2 hours a day, mandatory breaks and lunch are deducted from my pay. I start at 8 am and work until 4 pm. It will take me approximately 2 hours to get to work on my bike, or 3 hours via public transit. There have been 5 other people who had this job before me, and they have all quit, so I assume that there is something grossly wrong with this job. The money I make at this job will probably fail to pay my book fees at university next year.
  14. Lego commissioned that studio you see in the credits to make the movie, I think the movie comes on a cd if you buy the Spider Man 2 Lego set. I think that movie might actually be better then the real Spider Man 2 movie. I highly enjoyed the apperance of Duplo block.
  15. Lets face it though, its what’s inside that counts. I have spent some time with some attractive females who gave new meaning to the word shallow. Attractive females without the mental component are just eye candy.
  16. Denny's doesn't exist in Canada (well that isn't exactly true, there is one Denny's outside of Kingston). Edit: Oops, that isn't true. There are 53 Denny's inside of Canada, but the one outside of Kingston is the only one I have ever seen. On a side note, there are 401 Denny's in California alone.
  17. I am currently employed at a church part time, but I only log 6-8 hours a week, which is hardly anything. The employers at the local McDonalds told that they were only looking for people with prior fast food experience, or customer service related experience.
  18. I have, as of today, sought employment at 50 different establishments. So far I have only gotten calls back from the corrupt/scam marketing firm and the company that decided it doesn’t need the position I was applying for. I started looking for a summer job sometime in March, it is now July and I have absolutely nothing to show for my endeavors. I have been to supermarkets, offices, theaters, marketing firms, retailers, nurseries, etc with no luck. As I stumbled in the door to my house after partaking in another one of those pointless summer jobs for students seminars I checked my resume just to make a sure I hadn’t added the line “Eats Babies” on it, because I think that might be the only thing that can explain my miserable luck. I have been deemed unqualified to work at Future Shop, McDonalds, Best Buy, Sams Club and Home Depot, because I lack experience in that particular profession. Best Buy for instance requires at least 6 months experience to qualify to be a stock boy. To actually work on the selling floor you need at least 1 – 2 years experience in retail. My experience at Wal Mart has certainly been the oddest. When I handed my resume to the desk clerk at the lay a way desk at Wal Mart, the clerk took a quick look at my resume and uttered the line “You know, not just anybody works at Wal Mart”. I looked back at this Woman with an absolutely stunned look on my face. I fought back the urge to ask if I was not retarded enough to work at Wal Mart, as I swear that most of their sales staff has a maximum IQ of 50. Instead I just thanked her for taking my resume and walked away. I am sure that she processed it through the paper shredder right after I left. I have only had 2 interviews thus far. 2 interviews out of 50 applications! Something tells me I won’t be getting a job this summer. Hopefully, I can pay my University tuition in something other then money.
  19. Better then Digimon, Pokemon or whatever other anime trash that is spewed over the airwaves these days. For the first few seasons TMNT had some pretty well written episodes.
  20. The best 3 action cartoons are without a doubt. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) X-Men (1992) Spider Man (1993) Children’s cartoons are terrible these days; they are all plot less poorly drawn anime shows.
