About Me

My name is Idanwin ... or rather that is one of the names I go by on the internet.
I'm a CSci student who's mainly interested in Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics. I am engaged in the Linux and Open Source Software worlds.
My System76 Gazp7 runs an Ubuntu/Ubuntu dual-boot (in case I mess one up) and my custom build desktop runs Ubuntu/Linux Mint/Windows. I have tried nearly all major Linux distributions over the years. Some of my favourites are: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Knoppix, Backtrack, Puppy and DSL. Peppermint and Zorin are two of my showcase distributions (I use them to show how easy Linux can be).
I play music. I've played the violin for 14 years now and the piano for 3, but I don't have the time to keep studying at an adequate level.
I have played many Multi-platform games throughout my years as a Linux user and these are the most memorable ones:
Wesnoth: Wesnoth (v 0.7) was my introduction to Linux gaming and also to modding (v 1.0)
Warzone 2100: I have played the campaign many times and it has a really nice and innovative gameplay.
Glest: Unfortunately Glest itself is no longer developed/maintained, it has now forked into GAE and MegaGlest
Spring: Has never run correctly on my computer, but I have some fond memories of it anyway.
Freeciv: A civilisation clone. Really worth trying. I once made a necromancy mod for this game (were you recruited zombies and skeletons in graveyards and you had techs like 'Spellbinding', 'Levitation' and 'Alchemy'.
I am a fan of Doctor Who, Dexter and Castle, of Eluveitie, Amon Amarth and Muse, of Terry Pratchet, Neil Gaiman and Ben Goldacre.
