  1. Athens' gymnasium https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/69
  2. Actually, we also have the heroes left, but from my experience they are quite easy to write, so they shouldn't really slow me down
  3. I know, I haven't written a text in quite a while, I hope I can pick up the pace again, my goal is to write at least 2-3 texts per week. We're getting close to finishing Athens. Here is a pr for Athens' barracks: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/67 I wrote not only about military training but also about education in general, kind of describing the path Athenian boys would take growing up.
  4. Athens' Stable https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/65
  5. @ShadowOfHassen wrote it. I too think the Themistocles chicken story fits very well.
  6. I've opened a pull request fixing all incorrect quotation marks in the encyclopedia. https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/64
  7. Yeah, it would. And a smaller shield. I've taken a look at it, it seems like they use the same equipment as regular hoplites.
  8. Thanks for telling me, I was not aware of that. It kinda contradicts with the fact they are not unlocked by the Iphicratean reforms tech though. So, what historical unit does the Champion Spearman represent? And should I edit or rewrite the text accordingly?
  9. Athenian Spearman and Champion Spearman: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/62 https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/61
  10. I reworked/rewrote the five texts of the Spartan soldiers, as they were (in comparison to the Athenian soldiers) too short, and not at the level of detail, style and cohesion that I want them to be. I also rewrote the champion pikemen, even though this unit is currently not in the game, but it can be used in campaigns and mods (I think they are in DE?) https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/60/files Here is the text about these Spartan Phalangites (Champion Pikemem) (I wrote more about Cleomenes rather then the unit itself, because there wouldn't be enough to talk about): Infantry Spearman (Perioikoi) Champion swordsmen (Skiritai) Champion Spearmen (Spartiates) Infantry Javelineer (Helots)
  11. We are writing articles for every object in the game. Thanks to @ShadowOfHassen we're already done with all trees, animals, treasures, etc. This means we "only" have every single unit and every single building left. We have also finished all articles of Sparta, and nearly all of Athens. You can write about literally any unit or building which is not from Sparta or Athens. You said, the books are focused more on culture rather than specific buildings or soldiers. That's not a problem. If you come across information about religion, we can use it for the temple, if you come across how the society was governed, we can use it for the civic centre, if you find information about the role of women, we can use it for the women, ... If you want to help by doing research and writing about specific units or buildings from the game and don't know what historical thing they represent, just ask here on the forum, or try googling the SpecificName (the name in original language like Greek, Latin,...) that every unit and building has.
  12. If you want, you can privately message me the texts copied directly from Google translator, and I'll do some grammatical cleanup and all the GitHub stuff. IF you want. If not, feel free to decline. This is just a friendly offer from my side. Btw, I'm not a native English speaker either which actually slows down my writing process quite a bit.
  13. You don't necessarily need books, there are plenty of useful resources online, especially about the Greeks or Romans. I myself do most of my research on the internet, it can be a hassle sometimes, but still. Just so you know, your help would be welcomed and appreciated. (no pressure, of course)
  14. For me personally, performance has always been the biggest issue of the game. So for me, Vulkan falls more under the category 'enhancing playability' than 'adding new features'
  15. Yes, I might. But I don't think I will. Looking back at it, it was not a very good idea, i am satisfied with how it is now. You garrison units inside buildings to avoid them getting slaughtered by attackers, damaging garrisoned units would kind of defy the purpose of garrisoning them in the first place.
  16. Yeah, why not? I like the idea. We will focus on finishing all the articles for now (which will probably take a few months), and after we have finished the entire base encyclopedia we can expand it.
  17. Athenian Marine Champion Swordsman https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/58/files
  18. Athenian slinger https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/57/files I did not write about slingers specifically, but rather about the skirmisher militia units of Athens in general.
  19. Thracian peltast https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/56 We can reuse parts of this text (if not the whole text) for other peltast units.
  20. For those that don't know, Ekdromoi were hoplites lightlier armored than the others. They could break away from the slow phalanx formation for example to attack skirmishers. They wore hardly any body armor in order to increase their speed and mobility. From the research I have done, Ekdromoi champions seem to have been in the game a long, long time ago (as javelineers for some reason even though they definitely weren't javelineers). What happened to them? I can't find them in the game files. Did I miss them? I know that the SpecificName of the Skiritai is 'Ekdromos Skiritis'. But (from the research I've done for the encyclopedia) the Skiritai's role in battle still unclear to this day. It's not proven they fought as Ekdromoi. Plus, the Skiritai are swordsmen. While, of course, like the other Hoplites, Ekdromoi also carried swords, it was not their main weapon. And they are not faster than hoplites. Actual Ekdromoi should do the same damage as hoplites, have weaker armor and a higher speed.
  21. So they're slingers because Athens can't have two javelinist units? I understand, that makes sense. They represent skirmishers in general, that's why they are named 'Psilos' (light infantry/skirmisher) rather than 'Sphendonetes' (actual word for slinger)?
  22. Yes. All the Athenian skirmisher troops were drawn from the lowest class of Athenian society. But why slingers? For gameplay reasons?
  23. What historical units are the Athenian slingers supposed to be? I am writing the text for the encyclopedia and couldn't find any information about specific slingers fighting for Athens. Do they just represent Athenian skirmishers in general or am I missing something?
  24. PR for Cretan Mercenary Archers https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/52
