But to some degree with Synaethesiacs it must be the same?
I mean their associations must be based on growing up, learning, development, etc. Except they are formed in a way other than from society?
-
AFAIK you can't force yourself to be a synaesthesiate.
If you were, you would already know, I'm sure. You wouldn't need to listen to music, because simple pitches, intervals, keys, scales, etc you'd already associate with colors.
I'm sure the only reason I see colors is because of my life experiences. For example, things that have happened to me that remind me of the song, maybe even remembering a visualization I saw years ago. Maybe it's broader socially-induced color associations. For instance, blue is normally a serene, depressed, quiet, or subdued color.
I sincerely wish it were other than that, but I think that's all I can attest to.

Interesting that you mention Mussorgsky -
His "Pictures at an Exhibition" was based on several paintings, no?
-
Reading Tolkien can be your escape from "boring" literature. All of us have work to deal with as well.
-
I'm not a synaesthesiate, as I said, but I semi/unconsciously assoicate colors with music. I have to be in a semi-conscious state, this is not a conscious thing.
I only fear my experiences are influenced by popular culture and not by some mental condition.

Hacking someone's computer is not self defense. Nor is retribution.

I'm sorry for saying I have "synthesia", I did mean synesthesia
I'd spell it "synaesthesia".
As for the topic at hand,
No, but one of my favorite songs is entitled Synaesthesia, produced by the Thrillseekers.
I don't, as far as I know, associate colors with words, but -
When I listen to trance music, I do see patterns. It depends on the type of trance. I have all of my trance organized by words that I associate with feelings and colors.
When I need to unwind, for instance, I play special mixes of "halcyon" trance, which is shades of cyan, blue, and green, and I often will put my surround sound headphones on, turn all of the lights off, and just lay down and lose myself for a while.
What ends up happening is I start thinking of things and then things just start happening, in the mind's eye. This is like when you close your eyes and you can see patterns. But the effect is amplified with the music, so that I can see vivid patterns of colors and forms.
For instance, while listening to the song Flying (Sultan & the Greek Remix) by Valentino, I have a recurring and sensational feeling/vision of light green/blue "leaves" standing up on end in procession, in perspective from a top view. They fade into black oblivion, and this whole procession of "leaves" sort of reminds one of dominos lined up - but it's much more moving and dynamic. The procession movies around in set patterns, but the way that pattern is set seems to change every time I consciously think about it. In other words, if I accept the current pattern, it will continue, but if I contemplate the pattern and "look" around it in different areas or regions of it within my mind's eye, it changes in an unexpected way.
I could probably describe it best with a painting.
Also, I do not do drugs. Unless you consider music a hallucinogenic.

It's a much more personal experience reading the books. You have a chance to read it with people who can help you to understand and appreciate them.

translation -
Denen I think is a relative pronoun, plural and dative.
"Die Männer, denen wir die Bücher gaben, wohnen in Hamburg."
The men to whom we gave the books live in Hamburg.
But how is this different than:
Die Männer, den wur die Bücher gaben, wohnen in Hamburg.

Yes, also - I don't see how you can read the Silmarillion and HoME at the same time.
For a valuable and in-depth reading of the books, you need to attribute a large quantity of time to each. I imagine it would be quite confusing to read both at the same time, maybe not while you are doing it, but after you have - everything could easily become garbled and jumbled together.
Best not to be hasty...

Ja, Ich spreche ein Bisschen. Ich habe seit sechs Jahre Deutsch studiert, aber kürzlich habe ich mich nur Latein und auch Attisches (Altes) Griechisch engagiert.

I would have turned around and jacked them in the face....You just beat the crap out of 'em when they're aloneHack their computer. People like them usually aren't NEARLY smart enough to figure out even the IP of whoever did it.
Seriously guys, this is illicit and illegal stuff. Don't make me post about this again.
In the real world, such actions never solve problems, they only cause more.

Actually it probably is a good thing. It's a good thing to listen to it in general. Just be wary of bias from their guests. (same with any news source, I'm sure you already know) When I took the SAT I remember reading passages on things that I already knew about , which was extremely helpful, because there was not an added layer of misunderstanding from the subject matter itself.

12.75 an hour?
You're aware that's like 7 dollars more than is normal for your age level, right?
My first "real" job only payed $12.00/hour. Hopefully I'll be getting a raise this year.

Such things are trivial in the scheme of things. There are many things much more productive to do with your time than to waste it thinking about six goons.
Also there's no need for such language or its intended meaning on these forums. I'm sure you can describe your feelings in more appropriate ways.

Awesome. I just finished Scholar One (first rank of the IFV system) before christmas.

We can't start off with UT lol, we're going to move through the entire corpus hopefully, and there is a logical order.
I also chose LotR.
When I first read the books, I remember reading the Hobbit first. In fact, my mental image of Hobbiton is based entirely on this image, and so it's geographically incorrect.
I'd rather read LotR first because the Hobbit is a work of a different sort - the audience for which it was written was much different than LotR, the scope and connection to Tolkien's mythos is different. I think for the best understanding of Arda, it's best to start with LotR.

Yeah I tried to fix that when I made the skin, but I can't find the css code that controls it.

Yeah, I am an admin and I'd have to say, italics and bold is enough for emphasis. Anything more and you just lose credibility

Yes but I think that it is a sad excuse for poetry...three lines...cmon
That's a sad excuse for a reason. Haikus and Tonkas, just because they are so tiny, doesn't diminish their status as poems.
In fact, the choice of diction is so much more important in a haiku, because so few syllables must be so meaningful. Good haikus are minimal and poignant, simple and beautiful.
I should also say that there is a lot more to poetry than simply writing down things. A lot of people use free verse as a crutch for poetic ineptitude, as they also do with stream of consciousness.
Good free verse is extremely well written, the words are meticulously chosen, and they resound with meaning and intepretation.

Fantastic haikus - have you had a chance to check out TLA?
Eventually we will have a literature gallery on the website, where your haikus would be most welcome.

Ok, just for future reference, the content within each information box differs per category.
I changed the LotR entry to fit with the books category.

That's not entirely true -
I've sampled and remixed a good amount of songs which involves sometimes taking out the vocals, and people I know have also done this. Of course, my success is limited often. You can do this with programs like Soundforge, Reason, Cubase, and Acid Pro
Professional electronic music producers and remixers do this all of the time.
There are a number of techniques, but a lot of the time they set up these really complex filters made up of many nise gates.

Alto sax (8 years), piano (11 years), clarinet (4 years)... (tin whistle and recorders too )
Do computerized instruments and synthesizers count?
instruments I'd like to learn:
Harp, Violin, Cello, Flute, turntables/mixer
