I agree Adam
for further information, the best is to refer to HoME 12 - The Peoples of Middle Earth. There is a very comprehensive text about the Blue Wizards ... juist a few lines but seems to me the longest I have read about those !

He did deserve to pass into the Undying Lands ... It is thanks to him if the Ring was destroyed ! He showed a remarkable loyalty to his master and the Ring never took hold of him ... he is a pure-hearted Hobbit !
To me, Sam has always been the "true" hero of the Return of the King ...
-
Well, Finwë ... is not clear ... it might come from [Phin] meaning hair and from [-Wen] meaning Man, Male, Person ... but that is not sure ... but yes, Ñgolofinwë is indeed Finwë the Wise ... you can ask your question Adam !
-
yeh Finwë Ñgolofinwë ... that is what I wanted but I asked for the meaning of that ...
-
well, Black Hawk, there is something like that indeed ... but that is not the full answer ! sorry

By the way, do you know that Ered Sûl is a real place in Scotland ? and Curufin is a little village in Ireland (10 miles - 15 kms North of Galway) !!!
Ered Sûl = Windy Mountains rather ... after correction and checking on my Sindarin book.
-
I think it means Weather Mountain ... Ered = mountain (as in Ered Luin = Blue Mountain) and Sûl = Weather (as in Amon Sûl = Weather-top)
okay, an easy one ...
Where does "Fingolfin" 's name come from ? That is ... what is his full name, and what does it mean ?
-
Balrog rulez !

clear ...
thanks a lot !

well, I think I have understood now after a third reading of Adam's post ... so if you choose to play in the Second Age, you will remain there with the same civilisations until you stop playing ... the Numenoreans will not turn into Gondorians for instance ... which not a bad thing ... it would have been highly complicated to design such a thing !
Yet, don't you think that it will be a lot easier to play Numenoreans than Nandor ion the Secong Age ... for instance ? Will there be any drawbacks of choosing Numenoreans (who seem the strongest in the 2nd Age) instead of the Nandor (who don't look as strong militarily) ?
-
I have a little question ... why taking the Gondorian civilization in the Third Age while it is supposed to be a "decaying" civilisation ? why not keeping the Numenorean civ ? Let me explain ... if I start in the second age with the Numenoreans and eventually, it comes to the Third Age, what will be the benefits of the civilisation transformation ? or maybe there won't be any change of Age ... a Numenorean civ will remain as it is ...
Same question with the Noldor ... most powerful civ in the First Age (in my opinion) but nearly non-existant in the Third Age ...

Merry Christmas from France ... and a really Happy New Year for TLA in the game's advancements !
-
Curufinwë (Fëanor) for his (and my) great skills in languages and his pride ... that could lead him (me) into troubles
-
my major concern with RotK is about the Scouring of the Shire ... a necessary scene but never to be seen ... they could have placed it somewhere ... no fake Aragorn's death, a few things here and there ... and enough time for the Scouring !
-
Great Great ! That will be our New Year present
I do not know if that was discussed before but will it be possible for units to "patrol" on the walls? What I mean is ... will they be able to actually walk onto the wall towers (just like when you and I are going to visit a castle and we are behind the crenelations) ?
-
sorry mate ... won't do it again ... just felt like it on the moment ... probably the fever due to the flu !
-
My God ... how I wish you could give as much information on any subject as you did with the towers ... !!
-
I was thinking of Ghostly Rotting Corpses ... but no such choice was suggested ... but to me, the Dead Army in the ROTK was not that bad ... except their flashy color
-
for the House of Feanor, I suggest you look at my Avatar, Unsung ... that is Feanor's emblem, and by extension his House's ...
Yet, this one is not very clear ... you can see it better on JRR Tolkien's Drawings ... in the last pages.

I have just tried ... not sure what it looks like ... anyway ... let me find a decent thatch texture and I will post it ... why the hell is it so difficult to find thatch or straw texture on the web ?

what a great idea ... we could even go further ! from birth to 2 years old, set up a kindergarten then a nursery from 3 to 6 ... then school from 6 to 11 ... from 11 to 16, some would go to high schools and other would go on apprenticeship ... then, from 16 to 19, those who were on apprenticeship would be working whereas the other would go to University, but we forgot a group which doesn't want to go to University ... so we have to train them for something else ... and what if one crosses the street and a horse passes by ... BANG ... one death ! or what if one is felling so depressed he wants to kill himself ? should suicide be included in TLA ? then, there will be pipe-weed ... they should think of including Lung Cancer as well ... and all those people in TLA will have to think about sex ... but then, people will die of AIDS or any STD !! I really think STD should be included in TLA ... then, according to TLA's designers political side, abortion might be (or not) included and that will count for the deaths ! and what age should people die ? 80 ? 70 ? depends on hygiene conditions ? several centuries for Numenoreans ? 356 or 357 years ? ... and if two men were created (born) at the same time, will they die at the same time too ? ... and if they die because of their long age, that means they will be born as babies ! and an old man will be less productive in a game than a 30 year-old man ! so why keeping him ? better invent a unit specialized in killing all units over 55 !!!
Why not ... but it is going to be a hell of a problem

yeh, about the chimney, I thought ... it must be cold on Rohan during winter time ... so maybe the people inside would like to make a little fire to warm themselves up ... but it looks too "European" ... and maybe not "Anglo-saxon" enough ! I was thinking of a central chimney ... I will have to think about that concept anyway
As for the thatch texture, I am sure I can find a better one but so far, this is the only one I was able to find ! Eventually, I just placed a quick wood texture and I forgot to place the best one at the end ... I will try to post a full update when I am finished ... but maybe not today because my little cousin would like me to train him a little on 3D Studio Max ...

hey ZeZar ... just check on the Green Dragon ... I have just placed some fan artwork of mine ... a Rohirric house ... designed after Adam's great model !
New books
in History of Middle Earth Series

Well, to me the Peoples of Middle Earth is a "real" book ... but it is true that I use it now mainly as a reference book ... very interesting in my opinion especially the chapter about languages ... quite huge and so precise !
