  1. :P:P

:) how about making a no-limit playable version .... like 36 players can play at the same time on the same map ! The map could turn into a Tolkien version of Japan ... or the player could build high towers with different standings :drug: ... the Barad-Dur tower for low-income Orcs, the Tower of Minas Tirith for middle-class Humans and the Tower of Tirion for upper-class Elves ... TLA maps will the be like a little New York or a little London ... :P

  2. :P

True :P ... yet, elves are children of Illuvatar ... and so are men ... so I think it is a little bit different for Dwarves and Ents ... to make it simple, let's say elves are "minor" Maiar (in their "powers ... I hate this word but can't find another one), and men, well ... as Eru said, they were designed with free-will ... so I guess the Maiar could not guess what they could have done ... :P

Anyway, I voted for Balrog ... because he is the strongest ! nah ! :)

  3. :)

I was tempted to say Treebeard on behalf that he crushed the Balrog even if the latter could have burnt Treebeard ... Treebeard would have rushed to a water place ... :P

But eventually, I voted for the Balrog. It is (supposedly) a Maia ... who therefore came before Arda, in the Music ... whereas Ents were designed by Yavanna ... and cannot be Children of Illuvatar, just like our Dwarven friends ... So, I would answer, as regard to their "potential" power, that the Balrog wins this Deathmatch ... but my heart says Treebeard ! :P

  4. :P:P

:P how about a Diplomacy mode ?... wherein you are a negotiating people who never makes war and only tries to find a diplomatic way of settling things ... like, trying to make a cease fire between the Noldor and the Orcs over the theft of the Silmarilli ... that would be the greatest mode ever ... yet the most difficult to convince the sons of Feanor to give up one Silmaril to Melkor and get instead a life-long voucher to buy as many CDs as they want from the biggest mall in Kor ... or even worse, to convince Melkor to give up 20 Valarin Years in exchange of a Silmaril or two ... just like convicts negotiate their freedom for some information about another gang :P

I am sure that would be a great mode ... but what civilisation could we take for that ? Hobbits ? Germans ? French ? maybe Swiss people ... :P

Anyway, maybe that is just a dream ... yet, I will submit this idea ! :)

    :P

  5. :P:P:)

There's no way Morgoth could be gigantic in proportion to Elves.

I agree ... but on Nasmith's drawing, he IS gigantic compared to Fingolfin ... that's why I thougth the Silmarilli were too big ... but again, maybe he did so to draw our attention that Melkor HAD the Simarilli. :P

  6. :P:) Wonderful picture. Yet, there is something that bothers me. The Silmarilli. They look too big ... imagine Curufinwe-Feanor "wearing" them ... :P knowing that Melkor is a lot bigger than Elves (check the full picture ...), the Silmarilli would then be enormous to their standard ... or maybe there is something I missed and the Silmarilli could actually change their size (as could Sauron's One Ring) ... but I don't think so ... I guess it was drawn that way to draw the viewer's attention to it ... or Teddy made a little mistake while sketching :P

By the way, if anybody has go the illustrated Silmarillion by Nasmith, there the drawing of Feanor's son throwing a Silmaril off ... and it looks smaller ...

  7. ok, here is the last update. :P The walls, IMO, are quite nice. I have changed the window settings from stucco to grey stone. The gables have quite regular wooden slates. Actually, it is the same slate that I turned upside down, inside out, etc ... :)

Hope everybody likes it. But still, don't hesitate to give me good critiques ! not criticism ! ! ! ! ! :P

  8. Why not adding a Resume button as you build the unit in the building box ? So that the player would control any of his building in priority. Say you start building a Castle but it is not very important yet, but you need an archery very soon. But you don't have much wood left. You would just click on "Automatic Resume" as you build the Archery but you would not tick the "Auto Resume" for the castle ... It can wait ! :)

Has anybody understood what I mean ? :P I know it is a bitr messy but I think it would be a good idea to place the auto resume within the game and not as an option. :P

  9. I agree BolideLich. Orcs should be the same size as elves, at least in the First Age. Then, maybe as Ages go by, and Orcs become more and more corrupt, they may shorten a bit, to reach roughly the size of a tall hobbit.

  10. :P Could not it be "given" (or distributed as you wish) to PC games magazines who include it into their magazine ? Here in France, there are many magazines selling CDs with a full game on them along with the magazine. There could be special information into the magazine. It is very common in here. :):P
  11. all right, I see what you mean ... but I am pretty lazy and I will have to update my textures :P

but it should't be difficult ... by the way, that Rohan House is really nice, apart from the stairs of course ... :)

  12. :) I see what you mean, even if it is quite difficult with the model. By the way, did you make it ? It is a neat model, just lacking fine textures !

Oh, I have rendered a few images of all my buildings with Dwarves here and there ... you can have a check if you want ! :drug:

And again, thanks for the drawing ... I shalll try to make a model out of it !

  13. Regarding the Noldorin buildings, I would love to have a glance at them, to know exactly what to model. Because on the concept artwork page, I could only see the Noldor sanctuary facing, so it was difficult to model the rest of it. As for the textures, I was just placing simple textures here and there ... I will place the final textures later, when the building is better.

Now, for the Dwarven buildings, I thought it a good idea of having different types of wood for the gables (or for the doors). Otherwise, it would look too uniform. Anyway, I will update them and submit them again ... :)

I will also reduce the width of the gables. It is true that I designed this texture very quickly but I will enhance it ...

  14. to my knowledge - no Dunharrow - Gandalf, Theoden, Aragorn & the rest of the gang reunite at Edoras and take it from there

    Enarwaen,

maybe it won't be in the theatrical footage but I have seen pictures of Dunharrow on theonering.net .... then, it is PJ's choice to take it or not to take it for the movie .... but it was shot. Apparently, Aragorn will get Anduril in Dunharrow ...

    wait and see :)

  15. Well, yes I make models of my own but most are not related to Tolkien's world ... recently I made Morgoth's crown with the 3 Silmarilli. I once tried to make a version of Minas Tirith but I am not satisfied with the result. My other passion aside from Tolkien is Aeronautics ... so a lot of models are inspired by planes, launchers, space ships, etc ... a model I am quite proud of is a cartoon sheep in a narrow badly lit street, looking worried. Anyway, I will try to upload some onto my website for you to check what I did. It is only 7:30 am here and I have to go to work, so I don't think I will upload them before tonight !

  16. :) well, it looked weird to me but I just modelled quellion's drawing on the TLA website (concept artwork) and it looks like there is cow skin or some kind of skin on top. I might be mistaken but I think it is :P ... but I thought, well that's his idea :P ... probably with plate armour it would be better. I will think of that for the next one ! :P
  17. Well, just sending you a message to tell you that the image of the Dwarven Ram on the Concept Artwrok page does not work properly. :P I tried to open it but the image will only show half of it ! Can you just re-upload it or fix it so that I can start model it ... I was sick for a few days and I could model. My fever was too high ! :P

Anyway, you can delete this thread as soon as you can see it ... I just wanted to draw your attention on it and I didn't really know how to do it otherwise. :)

    sorry again ! :P
