I just wanted to say how great it is to see more 'newer' people on the Forums. This is the largest that 'I' have seen the forums get to. It's also great that the 'older' people aren't gone (with the exception of me of course!). so Kudos people and let the community keep growing!

I actually don't prefer it that way, being a cristian whose outdated primary school textbooks always said AD. My high school teacher got really heated at me when I said AD is all. Oh and I mean outdated in that the majority of the books where from the 60's and 70's and weren't even close to correct (ie. Barbarians meaning uncivilized ones where a group of people that wandered Africa and Northern Europe...).

If I kn\ew how to do anything but talk and make poor quality signatures (this isn't the place) I'd probably mod an ancient civ's mod ie. Hittites Assyrians Medes Etruscans Myceaneans Celts MAYBE Egypt (probably not) Although I must say being half-asian I'd love an Eastern X-pack/Mod-pack

I believe to show a transition in Persian Government in v2, that one of the "periods" (for want of a better word) should be converted into a stage where the tactics a player uses changes. ie. Parthians use their light ambush cavalry earlier on to irritate their opponents into doing something stupid. *but* later on the Sassanians could destroy an opponent via way of a heavier/better infantry in addition to cavalry more suited to direct engagement @#$% opposed to small skirmishes. This would make the Persians harder to play. Both as and against. However I think the transition phase (governmental change NEVER happens over night) should have the Persians with weaker soldiers, as most soldiers would be fighting in a civil war. as The Romans you should have the choice to play either as a cavalry or infantry oriented civ through research. The West was Infantry oriented wasn't it. Oh And For the Record: "No I will not let this die gently".

No to be most accurate it would be Either CE 0 (Common Era = AD) or 0 BCE (Before Common Era = BC). Historians now use these as offending other peoples religions is bad . The dates are the same just not the names.

Happy new year everyone! It's Been 2008 in Canberra (the junkyard where I live) for 15 hours and 39 minutes from when I am writing this. But one quick question to anyone who reads this. What does 2008 hold for 0AD? More Screenies? More Previews? A Closed Beta?

I like having the option to build and create alliances, and for some reason I rarely get stabbed in the back by any ally on any game. I usually have to go on the warpath to my allies other allies to get my ally to attack me in RTW. Then Egypt comes in with it's chariots having subjugated most of the Middle East. I never stood a chance.

I think that having a Unified roman faction at the start of part 2 would be more realistic seeing as the game "starts" at 1AD (or CE) and the Roman empire doesn't permanently split until 395AD. Personally I think to provide differentiality (i didn't think it was a word either) between east and west by providing a research/technology where if you get one you can't get the other. This would Also work for the Goths (Visigoth/Ostrogoth), I would also love to see (it's very very farfetched) where you could play as one "barbarian tribe" and pick it's soldiers by research, but only like... 5 different troop classes (ie. 1 lgt. sword, 1 hvy sword, 1 hvy cav, med archers, siege machines). But with any sense of realism (difficulty) and time it really wouldn't be worth it.

About 2 years ago when looking for an AoK mod. I got R@W and continued to look. I stumbled upon 0AD but neglected it for about 6 months until, looking for an AoK mod I came back. It took me weeks to figure out this wasn't a mod.

I have something closer to 6.9 gig now. I deleted music I never have, will, or am listening to games that are way past use by date (by CoD2, EE2) and miscellaneous other things. ie homework from high school and college (Australian Capital Territory school sys goes primary, high, college, uni)

I'm with... that person who turns it all off. Icouldn't really care about graphics (unless it's FIFA 07 seriously EA should update the graphics and gameplay) just FPS. Besides i have a Nvidia 3 ti 2 graphics card 256mb ram XP Pro 140GB Hard Drive (0.6GB left) So in normal words i can't generally use HDR or bloom except on old games!!
