  1. I'd like to support the proposition "Alpha XVII Quercus" for several reasons. 1) Well, it's a word beginning by Q and I really think we've covered up the wide majority of possibilities. Latin is, as said before, the only language with Qs so we're kinda stuck. Nobody proposed Quirinus, a really important Roman god, but I don't see a reason with we'd choose that. Now for the serious thoughts 2) I like the image of stability and maturity of this tree. A17 will be essentially a bugfix release, so I think that fits pretty well. You will say: "wut? a bugfix release? there were a ton of new features!", so what I mean is that we don't have a central huge feature (like internationalization for a16). I don't say there is nothing new in a17, all the contrary. On the other hand, since a16 release, the modding activity has been increasing dramatically and for this reason the mod selector will be realeased in a17. So, I think mods are important. Thus... 3) ... I also like the image of the tree with a trunk which grows and allows branches to develop. I find it really interesting to compare that to the development of our game, which now allows an active community of modders to make the gamers' experience even richer. Would you agree with me about all this?
  2. They were moved temporarily to a git branch to avoid merge conflicts, but they will not be removed forever. So it's ok to keep discussing about these balancing changes
  3. Recloning is awfully long, so you should try first Lion's solution, i.e. try "SVN Update" at the root of your copy. If your copy is "locked", do a cleanup first and then update.
  4. The pathfinder is currently based on obstruction, regardless of visibility (false objects, or "mirages", have no obstruction). So the units will detour as if they know the wall is there.
  5. I took a look at your mainlog but the only useful thing in it is that it fails after the config init. First, I was wondering why you had entitled this forum topic like this: did you experience problems downloading the game? I suggest you uninstall the game, and remove entirely the game's folder before reinstalling (maybe it's just a bad install). After uninstalling the game, go to C:\Utilisateurs\poste\AppData\Local\ and remove the folder "0 A.D. alpha" if it's still here. Then try to reinstall and tell us if it worked. Thanks in advance
  6. Well, you should reboot if you don't do it regularly, and if it doesn't work, reboot in safe mode, or use the command line, or replace the locked file by a dummy file... There are a lot of tricks like this across the Internet Having the game's files locked explains your previous installation problems, btw.
  7. You just have to open you html file with a notepad (Bloc-notes) and to copy-paste the whole content in Pastebin. Then, you click on Submit, and you send here the web address of the page you are on. So everyone can read the content of that file
  8. The system_info should work, for the main log you can post in a pastebin (http://pastebin.com/ is the most known). Thanks!
  9. Hi everyone, The fogging system, that allows hiding the changes to building in the Fog-of-War, has just been added to the svn version. (r15612) This change is a huge change, and even if much work has been done by the devs to limit the number of bugs, there can be some remaining issues. So I open this thread to collect any feedback or bug reports about the feature, to centralize everything. I'll be off for holidays soon, so this is to make sure I'll take care of every report! Also, any suggestion is welcome. I am already aware of some issues I decided to put aside for the moment, I will correct all that as soon as possible. The associated Trac tickets are the following: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2709http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2710Thanks in advance for your participation, and enjoy playing without knowing what your enemies are preparing!
  10. Could you post the game's logs, i.e. the file C:\Utilisateurs\poste\AppData\Local\0ad\mainlog.html? You may have to make the hidden folders visible to see AppData. Also, it could be interesting to have system_info.txt also (situated in the same folder). Thanks in advance!
---- Hey The_Green_Arrow, Even if your English is not good, Google's one is probably even worse I assume you installed the last "stable" version from play0ad.com? If it's the case, what happens when you try to launch the game again? Does it crash every time?
  12. Good luck, then, I really liked what I saw while testing your mod! You should definitely use a version control system, and, why not, make your work (even in progress) somewhat public to get some feedback (which will probably be positive, and at least valuable).
  13. Can you revert your mod to the version you used during the crash? (assuming you're using a version control system, which you should do) If not, it'll be impossible to reproduce exactly the situation you experienced, so you'll have to wait a new occurrence of this...
  14. You can check here: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/browser/ps/trunk/binaries/system. Maybe there was a problem when downloading, or maybe the problem comes from somewhere else, it's just to be sure
  15. Hi Phoenix, I took a look at your mod but unfortunately I couldn't test your commands.txt file because you seem to have modified your maps or something after you played that game. Josh is right suggesting a missing DLL, could you verify your binaries/system to check every file is in it? This actually caused the "While generating an error report, we encountered a second problem" thing. So once this is fixed you can get the real error message, that may come from your mod.
  16. Haha, one of the best ways to confuse foreigners coming to the French Riviera
  17. Yes, I wanted to say "the version of the mod", in case the problem is solved in another version. We must find what code triggered this crash (but maybe it does not come from your mod, it's just a guessing).
  18. What is the mod you used? Can you give us a link to the version used for this game? This might be the cause of the problem but the mods shouldn't be able to crash the engine that way, so we must correct the behavior. Thanks in advance!
  19. Maybe it is a permission problem, or maybe it's related to a previous installation (a15?), but in any case you should remove all these data manually. Just remove the 0 A.D. alpha\ directory, and re-run the installer (again, keep the default installation path).
  20. Lion, there is not need for creating a ticket on Trac here. Sollinarise, did you uninstall the game properly before reinstalling? Please make sure that the folder C:\Users\Sollinarise\AppData\Local\0 A.D. alpha\ is removed, or, at least, empty. If it's the case, can you verify you have enough free space left on your hard drive? Keep us informed
  21. Hi Sollinarise, We're getting reports of this problem often these days. Could you try to reinstall without changing any other setting? This may help us to determine the cause of the problem. If it doesn't solve it, please come back here and tell us, we'll try something else. Thanks in advance!
  22. Hi auron, this has been already reported for a long time here: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/919 It's quite a difficult problem to solve, unfortunately.
  23. Brian, if I'm not mistaken you attached your files for three different games? Could you by any chance retrieve your friend's files (especially oos dumps)? Thanks in advance!
  24. The issue should be fixed now (see r15538), but you'll have to wait for the ppa to be updated. Enjoy playing 0A.D.!
  25. Yes, the wfg/0ad.dev repository is updated regularly with all the new changes.
