  1. I didn't use the corral at all until I played Savanna Ravine with the Britons. Then I started to use the corral instead of spending my wood in farms each time I was playing the Celts on a map where trees are rare. (Mauryans need a lot of wood too, but they can move their dropsites where they want, so they don't have this problem ). Now that I've discovered the trick "Just train one light cavalry unit per corral and make your corral(s) produce a full training queue of sheep and then don't care about food for 20 minutes", I use corral almost every time. But this is just because infinite farms are not implemented yet.
  2. The blue water looks unrealistic to me, transparent water would probably look better IMHO.
  3. Is there a way to place only wall towers, one by one, in 0AD ? Or do you need to build a wall and then destroy the curtain walls' underpinnings ?
  4. What about mods with vernacular names ? I think there are already asian history mods of 0AD on the way.
  5. This would be really cool, but the terrain should be flattened if you turn a wall into a door. And maybe we should imagine a case where the terrain is too uneven to be flattened (and remove the "turn into door" button for the concerned wall parts).
  6. This is an issue, it breaks freedom 0, making the work non-free. IIRC Unvanquished faced the same problem and now it's a non-free game because of this stupid "NC" EULA clause.
  7. How will this feature cope with bug #1665 ? If I send a unit at the other edge of the map with attack-move order, will it attack every wild animal on its path ?
  8. He did not say "commercial", he said "important".
  9. I would add that umbrellas/roofs weren't very useful against the arrows at this height. I suppose their purpose was mainly visual indeed.
  10. I've seen a lot of howdahs that are this big, but they were travel howdahs or ceremony howdahs. I've seen drawings of very big war elephant turrets, but I can't be sure they're not exaggerated. The only things that I guess are not exaggerated are the pictures of the movie in lilstewie's references. In this case we know the elephant can carry the howdah, and can deal with it while shaking, kicking, rushing and swinging in the combat environment. And the howdahs in lilstewie's references don't look that heavy and sophisticated to me. Anyway, your howdah structure may be appropriated for fighting, I don't know. I'm not an expert in elephants (neither in combat, btw ). But if I was a mauryan soldier, I'm pretty sure I would make the burden of the elephant as light as possible (while trying to keep it impressive). I would use an umbrella rather than a roof (or just a small roof, comparable to an umbrella speaking of weight and visibility), and I wouldn't put a chair in it, especially a big armchair like this one. It would be only a disadvantage in combat, it reduces the room for the soldiers, one could fall on it and hurt himself (I suppose they are almost constantly shaken during the fight), not speaking about the weight it adds. Moreover, if a soldier is hurt during a fight, he would better squat on the floor, rather than being exposed to enemies by sitting on a chair, I suppose. Edit: lilstewie, what are the round white things on both sides of the howdah in the movie ? Shields ? Drums ?
  11. @Enrique: Is this a hero elephant ? It looks like a howdah intended for ceremony, or to make travel an important character (like a lord or a king). It's way too big/heavy and comfortable for a war howdah. A war elephant should have a howdah half this size, in my opinion, with no chair, and four standing men should barely fit in it.
  12. I think it's a known bug. The AI tries to reach a tree that is outside of the map. The woodcutters aren't able to take wood out of it, and chop forever.
  13. @Yves : On some pictures the front mast seems to be connected to the second mast with ropes. On some other the front mast seems to be attached to the desk, and the front beam is only here to support. But it's not very clear.
  14. Great ! The asian elephant could be a little bit smaller than the african elephant, in my opinion. Apart from that, it's perfect. @lilstewie : What I mostly notice in the first pictures is that the tusks are carved. Did mauryan also used to cut their elephant's tusks like that ?
  15. On the screenshot of the month the player colors of the stables' front entrance look a little bit too flashy compared to the other buildings. http://i.imgur.com/VzAN68o.jpg Maybe the red should be darker and/or the stripes thinner.
  16. I don't want to seem rude, but you could start by following a few simple rules : - Put capital letters at the beginning of the sentence, not in the middle, unless you want to write a proper noun or an acronym. - Try to avoid non-english words in the middle of a sentence, unless you have no other choice. - Don't multi-post. Try to think about everything you want to say before posting. If you forgot something and it's unlikely that somebody already answered to your comment, edit it. - Don't quote full comments, especially those including pictures. Nobody wants to see the same long list of HD pictures three times in a tread. Just quote the few sentences you want to answer to. - Don't rush. Take the time to type all the letters of every word, to use punctuation, etc. Remember that the time you save by posting too fast may be lost by all the people who have difficulty in reading your comments. And ask yourself : "Will this add something relevant to the discussion ?" before you post. If you do that I will maybe remove the current rule that hides your posts in my preferences.
  17. Note that CC-BY-SA is just weak copyleft, similar to LGPL.
  18. Tooked a few pics while toying with the options. All graphical settings enabled, zoomed out to max : All graphical settings enabled, normal zoom : All graphical settings enabled, maximum zoom in (in fact, stripes are still visible on the shores) : Refractions, reflections, foam, waves and surface shadows disabled (and zoomed out a little, because without reflections/refractions you almost don't see the stripes on the shores) : Disabled the rest (shadows, shadow filtering, HQ waviness), actual depth is still enabled, stripes are still there :
  19. Sorry to answer so late. It doesn't make any difference when I turn on/off reflections and refractions, I mean, reflections and refractions are displayed, but the shape of the water keeps looking like this. And I've noticed that the more I zoom in, the thinner thoses stripes are, until they disappear. With full zoom in the water is properly displayed.
  20. Are the bars at the edge 0.75 ? Or is it an optical effect ? (Just to clarify : I proposed to make the bars thinner because like Yves I thought the rusty cage was a wooden cage : big bars look like wooden beams.)
  21. Bars are a bit too big, aren't they ? Is it possible to make them thinner ?
  22. Funny, I have the opposite bug With Actual Depth Without Actual Depth On AMD RS880 with radeon driver and mesa 9. (But I know it's a driver issue, not a game issue.)
  23. Why ? Many games have hotkey combinations to switch between a normal, non-visually polluted mode, and a "display everything" mode (usually this displays line of sight and firering range of all units). Switching between modes was an idea suggested in the bug report, but I find the idea of using the Ctrl key even more clever (especially with feneur and Pedro's explanations).
  24. You probably need to use DKIM on wildfiregames.com if you want your emails to be properly accepted by hotmail.
