  1. i actually wasn't aware hotkeys had been added and didn't know that the period key was used to find idle workers i used Tab in example since that's what i was familiar with via Empire Earth and i think Age of Mythology as well--just makin' a point

  2. Some are a little long but I found myself issuing orders to units again and again to figure out what they said. In my opinion, if the phrase is cut short it doesn't really matter and the people who want to know what the unit is saying will issue it again until they can clearly understand it. Also, only the players who speak the language of the civilization they are playing will be able to decipher it anyway without having to look it up (hence they could be speaking complete gibberish and it wouldn't matter if you can't understand it to begin with). As for the quotes, I've posted them in a free/open source game forum so anyone who wants to please feel free to do literally whatever with them. Feel free to use them any way you want in 0AD or another game. I'm not sure how you would implement the phrases into loading screens since the quotes of the day in-game are in English (unless you mean just use the English portion). But as I said, feel free to use them in whatever capacity desired. I used to play Age of Empires when I was younger and downloaded 0AD Alpha 19 as a gift for my uncle and father this Christmas who also played quite a lot. I can't program very well, nor am I that adept at graphic design, so I wanted to contribute back in a way I felt that could possibly be useful. Lastly, whoever did the designs for the shields in the center that brings up the structure tree, I find them absolutely incredible! Excellent work and of course thank you all of the other developers/contributors who have spent countless unpaid hours making an amazing game!

  3. Thanks for digging up the details. I found a recent bug report on SDL's Bugzilla that is related to this issue: https://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3188 The bug report has not been aknowledged yet (update: there are now some comments on the report). I've seen a workaround in the yquake2 project: https://github.com/yquake2/yquake2/blob/AZERTY-workaround/src/backends/sdl/input.c#L393

  4. The buckler there seems to be scanty evidence for Roman presence; buckler shields were preferred during the 13th century A.D.

  6. The last few releases became a game of "Rams and champs and other deus ex machina unit", other lesser units were getting pushed aside, specially during late game. It could get really boring since the unit selection/variety in able to achieve victory is very scarce. Even lesser chess pieces could be used to gain a win, if used smartly or strategically.

  7. IMHO, battering rams.. (But.. as far as I know, game balance is not a high priority at the current stage of the game development, Wildfire's top priority, ATM is to keep on improving the pathfinder and game performance. Game balance can be tweaked after) Rams ramming infantry to death is just an unpleasant sight for me to see in-game. It breaks realism. I'm also a supporter of a feature similar to that, a "switch default action to destroy or capture" button, hotkey or game option. I mostly destroy low hp enemy buildings around the civil center with clumps of infantry or champs, and leave harder ones to rams. destroying them is faster than capturing, trying to capture buildings lead to more casualties. It would be easier to micro things if that kind of button, game option or hot key would be implemented. Or disable, "Ram to Infantry and cavalry" and specific "Infantry and Cavalry to Building" attacks for more realistic results.
