  1. Unless I'm mistaken, elephants (and other passive-aggressive gaia animals) will focus solely on the first unit that attacked it, which means you can attack the elephant with one unit and then micro that single unit around in circles while the rest of your hunters kill the elephant.

  2. Changes made: Differentiation of skirmishers and archersCiv-specific unit\buildings perks and bonusesFormation Enabling/Disabling Toggle (see ticket #2936)Stronger champions and heroesNerfing of Persian Cavalry (so that they are consistent with those of other civs). This may turn out differently during civ differentiation stage, as Persians were noted for their strong cavalry.Disabling of cavalry "auto-micro"Making siege weapons considerably more effective than foot/cavalry soldiers against structures.Decreasing accuracy of bolt shooters. The current stage of balancing is Release Testing. This branch has been merged into SVN. XP and ranking up are currently disabled until relative templates are committed for ease of balancing.

  4. He is quite right the square city idea was the result of 17th and 18th century surveying technology before that laying out a straight line over long distances was just not done as people built just about anywhere they wanted no zoning laws apart from don't aggravate the nobility And no ancient city had regular street grids with the possible exception of Chinese ones as they made defence of the city during a siege and probable defeat at the walls quite problematic random streets helped in the defence. 5. I don't know which hardware you play on, but the renderer and UI fixes from a14 to a17 were a real improvement for me on the side of general lag. I'm looking forward to the new pathfinder because the lag pikes still remain, but everything's not negative, and the devs are doing a great job. I agree on the fact that stuff like charging and trampling, delayed damage and spreading, secondary weapons and formation bonuses should be implemented before we can have a proper idea of the different units' strengths and weaknesses in the final state of the game, and balance them accordingly, but right now some people want to be able to play the game in its current state, and they are making the balance changes for it. Why whould you try to stop them ? If they are able to quicky balance the game now, they will be able to do it at every gameplay change, I have no worry about it. And they're not delaying the progress of the game either, not more than modeling new civs is delaying development : balancing the templates and implementing new features into the engine are different kind of jobs.

  6. Winning Rododactylos would be hard, but I suggest Alpha XVIII Rubico. The Rubicon river it's famous for the latin phrase "Alea Jacta Est", that means "the die it's cast". I think that fits cause 0 A.D have been developped long ago and there's no turning back considering the efforts and I think that a Beta it's near. Also I think that you would finish the game.

  7. Well, as a good example for the current discussion (which is quite out of topic ), you have fogging which was a big feature. However, I had to work on fogging performance until this very week. Including "big" features is nice, having them really working is both necessary and difficult! Back to the topic: I'd like to propose Rododactylos, which is the Homeric epithet associated with Eos, the Dawn, and which literally means "rosy-fingered". I think it suits the release which is a performance update, with a more swift gameplay, so the image of the flower is fine (see also previous release, Quercus ), and the dawn can be related to future new features in A19, and also to the beta that is getting closer. Thoughts?
