Oh no pls don't add it to A28 You can mod in whatever way you want, but adding to the base game is a different story. Firstly who will make the patch and whether the patch will be approved is another story. Secondly this feature, if activated accidentally, can be disastrous. Tests have shown that my own micro is better than this selectionbox targeting even though I would have to click hundreds of times.

Well, if you want an old gaming PC, you will have more option with Win10 than with any Linux. And in all cases, a SSD is just a massive increase in comfort and performance for a cheap price. Whatever if you go with Windows or Linux, a SSD changes considerably the experience. The end of support for Win10 will mostly concern Microsoft integrated features and Microsoft cloud based apps. Most of the programs and application will still run on Win10 for a few years. Even if you are getting a new Win11 laptop, upgrading your Win10 laptop would be a good option to increase its longevity. If you want to try Linux Mint, you can put it on the SSD directly and like this you still have the HDD with Win10 in case you change your mind. Yeah it looks fine. Just check you can open the case of the laptop and change the disk drive easily before buying it. And verify the HDD is a 2.5 inch form factor, generally it is the case but it is better to check. Ah and something else, you don't have bitlocker activated on the Win10 laptop? If it is a home or familial edition, it is generally not the case.

I agree that this does not need immediate improvement, it works good enough. But an icon when hovering over fields (like when hovering over buildings while having a unit selected and holding the garrison button) would be a nice quality of life improvement, as I wouldnt have to click through all my farms to find the one farm that only has 4 women working on it.

Clicking on twelve trees is not that hard. And if you want to build a wall through an entire forest, maybe you should reconsider. Thats 6 clicks. Not very many for the start of the game where nothing is happening. Also this would mostly just be a bad decision, since paying 100wood at the start of the game to queue up building a farm after they will be done with the berries minutes later is not a very good economic decision. Same goes for basically every other situation, if the selection box targeting was added for economy aswell. I guess thats also what @Atrik was alluding to when he compared the military benefit of this targeting method to "manual sniping", just that selection box targeting would be even less useful economically (as far as I can see). That being said, I dont really care if selection box targeting gets added, neither for military nor economy, as I can just choose to not use it if I dont like it. Thus I endorse adding this to a potential a27 community mod or a28 release.

How to boom with the Persians! The late game was not worth showing, but the boom was epic. Another match featuring Tom 0AD and JagsusIndia talking in the background:

I think a feature like this could be applied to gathering mechanics as well. One thing I have wanted to see for a long time is the ability to have a group of worker units, then box-select some trees, and the units will automatically gather only those trees. They will gather surrounding trees if left idle after that, but this means you can queue an order to come after only those trees are gathered. For example, if you wanted to build a wall, but some trees are in the way, you can order units to gather only the trees that are in the way, then queue an order to start building the wall, and that would save you from needing to check back on those units later, or from needing to shift-click on potentially dozens of trees. You could also queue-order multiple patches of trees in a row. For example, you could order units to build a storehouse, and then queue an order to gather a patch of trees with box-select, then queue an order to build another storehouse next to a different forest, and so on. Another example is at the start of the game, for berry gathering, you could use box-select to order your women to gather the starting berries, then queue the order to build farms once those berries have run out. That would save you from needing to shift-click on each and every bush. There are so many other examples that I could probably think of for how this could work, but you get the idea.
