Peaceful Mode/Male Workers - 0 A.D. Release 28
t.ekema replied to t.ekema's topic in Game Modification
Nice, I didn't realize that you could un-check all victory options, thanks! This is a good work-around for the time being, solves #1 and #2. It'd be nice to have a mod option, though, with some goals or peaceful "victory" options without setting all players to the same team. It doesn't work for the wonders/relic victories, for example, it just declares victory immediately if you are all on the same team. A. Yup, this "male worker only" mod relies on R28. Its just a simple hack to make it all male instead of random male/female. B. This will probably distract from the purpose of this thread Just my view and shared the mod in case anybody feels the same. Permanent ceasefire might be the way to create the peaceful mode, that's a good idea! I'll probably look into at some point. -

You could try extending the ceasefire to longer duration/permanent and with locked teams[in case they don't mistakenly become allies at some point], or search through here https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/search?q=ceasefire. Goodluck. - Today

Peaceful Mode/Male Workers - 0 A.D. Release 28
Perzival12 replied to t.ekema's topic in Game Modification
This is a good idea, there should be a built in peaceful or creative mode. Build a Wonder is a victory condition, in the game setup. Also, you can select Revealed Map and Explored Map. also in the game setup page. Also, in the game setup, if you click on the little checkdot that says Conquest, it will disable victory all together, so you can build endlessly. As for the female citizens thing, two thoughts: A: R28 removed female citizens, with randomized men or women models. B: What makes men less sexualized than women? What about for most girls? They certainly think men are more... ahem... than women are. -
No. The hero should go fast enough to match the speed of the people affected if they are the same type of unit (i.e. an infantry hero with a +10% speed bonus to other infantry should go 10% faster than the default infantry). It just makes more sense, since generally the point of auras is to show how the heroes inspire their companions, not how they inspire themselves.

Her skin is made of ivory. Her clothing is made of gold. -
17. Elephants should Garrison inside Forts as well

I would now like to gain feedback by raising a new suggestion: the movement buff some heroes give to other units (e.g. Seleucus) should apply to the hero himself as well, if applicable keep in mind I'm only talking about the speed buff

Will be fixed when the pull request is accepted

Jagsus gets his hands on R28- witness my rant

in hindsight, I shouldn't have reported this.the game would have been so much funnier just trolling by sheer AURA of these goth women xD -
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to create a "peaceful mode" for my younger kids. I noticed that by setting all players to the same team it immediately declares victory...but then allows continued playing. Then it's almost like a peaceful city-builder game with AI civs you can trade and interact with. The only issues are: 1. The game music continually plays victory music instead of standard 2. The map is revealed, instead of being gradually explored which is more interesting. 3. It would be nice to have some sort of goals, like complete the tech tree, explore the whole map, build a wonder, etc. I think a mod altering the victory conditions is the way to go. I started creating a simple mod with "peaceful" entry in the game types and no scripts. Things load ok, but it still proclaims victory (reveals map, plays victory music) and you still have to make sure everyone is on the same team. At the least, I'd like it to not proclaim victory (can be endless with no goals if need be, just don't want the map to be explored or the music to stop). Anybody feel like giving a few pointers? On a similar note, I feel the female civilians are too sexualized for kids (or adults, for that matter). Attached is a mod that replaces them with males, if anyone is interested. peaceful_mode.zip male_workers_only_mod.zip

How do I make new typefaces and fonts?
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to Perzival12's topic in Game Modification
Yes, this confuses me as well. -
Delenda est is actually way better than vanilla. EDIT: Though not as good as Hyrule Conquest: Revival, if I do say so myself (I do).

How do I make new typefaces and fonts?
Perzival12 replied to Perzival12's topic in Game Modification
So if I want to include my new fonts for download in the mod, I have to include a custom config file specifying them? I can’t just specify them in the GUI file that uses them? -
You’re absolutely right about this. There were several months available to test the different release candidates. In fact, the times I personally tested the RCs, I welcomed the inclusion of this PR, yet I didn’t notice this (important) detail at all. It was only after playing the final version of 0 A.D. R28 repeatedly that I realized this lack of feedback was causing confusion. At least on my part, I take some self-criticism for not giving the testing phase the importance it deserved. There are a few other issues that could have been avoided if we had dedicated the necessary time and commitment to properly testing the RCs as we should have.

Hi, @Atrik can you fix /pingall so i dont have to do it every new version? Line 14 ChatCommandHandler~autociv.js const ignore = new Set([selfNick].concat(this.botsListIgnore)); -> const ignore = new Set([selfNick].concat(that.botsListIgnore)); change 'this' to 'that' and add "WFGBot" to botsListIgnore

So, here's where being game developers and designers matters. It's where we who make the game make decisions based on a vision for the game. Every change we make angers some players, delights others, and has zero impact on others. We can't (and won't) swing back and forth after only a couple weeks of play. The time to make your voice heard was months ago. We've had several release candidates and the pull request is 9 months old and was committed to the repo 6 months ago. As far as I'm concerned, the feature is staying, and the only things I personally will entertain are ideas on how to improve it (and I'd wager many of the other developers would agree). PS: The feature is only incidentally related to DE.

kk, let's use this.

That’s why it’s important to clarify what we mean when giving opinions about specific topics. Saying “it’s useless clutter that reduces clarity” is not specific enough about what the actual issue is: the models themselves, or the lack of distinct voices? Since we were discussing this: Which, stated like that and without further explanation, seems to refer to the introduction of the change itself rather than to any specific aspect of it. I’m clarifying this because this topic has been discussed in the game over the past few days, and from the arguments I’ve been reading, some people seem to be rejecting the very idea of having male citizen models. I guess now is clear you meant the audio feedback
-
It comes down to how you interpret " "Gendered Civilians" is a very bad change. " Gendered Civilians is bad, period or Implementing Gendered Civilians in an unfinished state (no dedicated male voice for civilians) is bad I was thinking of making a mod that completely reverts the gendered civilians change, but I found that playing with this mod gives enough sensual feedback regarding which unit I have selected that I don't feel the need anymore.
-
Just to be clear, idle villager pointer adds a pointer in the top of every idle villager, it doesnt convert male villagers into women. I agree having the same voice sound of military units ads clutter. But I don't see why having a male model, totally different from the military models, adds clutterness too
-
Yes, which is why two of the most popular mods for clarity, small trees mod and idle villager pointer, is now in-build in the game itself, and why the most popular mods either remove clutter or improve the UI.
-
I wonder if we could just get another male voice actor saying the lines, and then get the guy citizens say the new guy lines and the girl citizens say the girl lines we already have.
