DariusThe1337
Perhaps Mauryan Indians for the early period, and Guptas for the late period?
Mythos_Ruler
Go duchy of Muscovy!I think that would be a little outside our timeperiod. I'd really like to see Ptolemaic Egyptians.Definately a good choice for a future "content addon pack." We've (Paul and I) have batted around ideas for a Diadachi / Macedonia hybrid civ.The Etruscans! They'd be a sweet civ. I have yet to see them prominently in any RTS.Perhaps Mauryan Indians for the early period, and Guptas for the late period?I'm afraid the scope of our game doesn't really include the Indians, no matter how cool they are. We're including civs that effected Rome in both parts of our game's time periods. Part 1 is 500BC - 1BC and the Indians had little to virtually no contact with Rome at this time. Indians would be a sweet civ for an AOE1 Redux though.
DariusThe1337
Well, Indians had alot to do with the Persians and Hellenes. If not indians, steppe nomads could be fun. A scytho-sarmatian faction could do, that splits into either the Saka or the Sarmatians. Saka would have better infantry, and limited elephant use, and Sarmatians could be really good skirmishers and horse archers. I'd even be willing to learn how to model and program just to have these put in-game. Lol.
Mythos_Ruler
Actually, it'll be so easy to mod this game you'll be able to add a new civ within a month of the game's release.
DariusThe1337
Fantastic. Will I actually be able to add them, or will they just replace another?
Mythos_Ruler
With the nature of the game and how we are constructing the game, you should be able to add entire civilizations at-will, or replace existing ones if you wish. I think it'd be better to just ADD another civilisation since then it won't cause multiplayer issues for those who download your mod. I think maybe someone else could give you a better answer, but I am sure I am correct.
DariusThe1337
That sounds awesome.
Belisarivs
AOE1 Redux though. Just curious, but what is it? I liked AoE1 and 2 much indeed. This is some mod, extension or simply something virtual what doesnt exist but would be cool to be more than just an idea? Yamato Take
The AOE1 Redux is just an idea. Here's some ideas me and other people have put together for one.http://aoe3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums...t&f=9,29368,,
Mythos_Ruler
Yep, very excellent AOE1 remake thread there at AOE3 Heaven. I like most of the ideas presented. Cool thing is, Indians are included, as AOE1 had a broader scope than 0 A.D. does (for better and for worse).
FirePowa8
Glad you like the remake. You can thank Lord Iarune for encouraging the Indians to be a civilization.
history999
Why not add the phonecians? After all Money makes the world go round! And what about a carthage addon they affected rome? http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...6lr%3D%26sa%3DX
FirePowa8
Carthage are already in 0AD, the Phoenecians were a power but not quite to the extent of the 6 other civs, as far as military goes. Argalius
As far as my knowledge goes, the Phoenicians and Carthagians were pretty much the same. Because the Phoenicians were the Carthagians' ancestors more or less. Right?
Abadu
What about the Lydians? They great archers and horsemans and king Croesus was one of the richest kings.I also think that the germanic barbarians should be included
Paal_101
Yep Phoenicians are the ancestors of the Carthaginians. They established Carthage as a colony some time in the 9th century BC. Lydians would be fun to do Germanics are in for Part II.
Scutarii
I'd like to see some germanic tribes, like the teutons, or germanic-cross-celtic tribes like the ambrones or the cimbri, because they played a important role in roman history (after several roman defats against these peoples in the late second century BC and against the king Jugurtha in north Africa, Marius introduces his famous reforms)
rainer.
Thracians;\\// Edited April 5, 2007 by rainer.
FirePowa8
I agree, Rainer. Til then we'll have to settle for the Hellenic peltastai in part 1, but they seem really cool too.Nice avatar!
Mythos_Ruler
The Peltast for the Greeks is Thracian, at least in Part 1.
Paal_101
A Thracian side would be a pretty unique addition to historical RTS's. They have enough unique weapons to make them extremely interesting to play
216 B.C.
I think that Pontus would be pretty sweet to see.
Abadu
Some interesting civs would be:-Kingdom of Aksum-Maurya Empire-Thracians-Lydians-Scytians-Latter babylonians(They fought against early persians)-Dacians-Saba(As in europa barbarorum)-Germanic "barbarians"-Maccabees-Han Dynasty-Thirtieth Dynasty egyptiansPehraps some of those could appear in latter "x-packs"
