If it was intended for the casual geek or new age hippie they probably made a movie based on the Silmarillion, which is a much better book imo. No casual person will be willing to sit through a long history lesson and the Purists will find a million things to complain about. I think it should stay as a book or at least, only have a section of the Silmarillion made into a movie.LATER: Well, I couldn't resist downloading Quicktime to see the trailer.
