Battle system like in Cossacks

Cossacks is an old video game.

That very like the battalion system in Rise & Fall : empires at war.

R&F's system was actually kinda nice. But the one thing I like from it was its selection system. By single clicking on a unit in formation, it would select the entire formation, double click to select the individual unit.  We also need a click drag facing option, like R&F, Rise of Nations, and Total-War.

It would be cool if 0ad will have a gamemode that is similar to the Praetorians and Hegemony series, where you don't have to mind resource gathering, you just focus on training units, combat and competing for captureable sites, resources are auto-generated by captureable settlements (village/town) and resource buildings (wood/stone/metal) that are placed in different areas of the map.

As game mode is good idea, because after a while is boring.

im sure see this may be a mix between tower defense and capture settlements.
