(Late Japanese)=Ashigaru Musketeer

Well, I did a throw at creating gunpowder units and I encountered the following:

1. Currently it is not possible to emit particles on a event (like explosions, muzzleflashes)

2. It is impossible to let bullettraces look good.

But I made a start with the Ashigaru Musketeer!

What does it feature:

- Gun sounds (CC0 license + a bit modified)

- An Eastern look.

- self-made bullet projectile (That pyramid shape :))

Currently it uses clothing, helmet and crossbow from RotE. So what it does need:

- correct clothing texture.

- gun loading&firing animation

- gun mesh + texture

And when all is done:

- Unit icon.

Awesome. How far can they shoot? Probably they can deal with plenty of enemy archers, I would love to see a duel of those against the converting priests.

Do we have some concepts in another topic, especially for the animations ?

Well, for the textures and animations I'll point to Age of Empires III The Asian Dynasties for workable examples:

Textures:

Basic:

Advanced:

Elite:

As for the animations:

The current firing animation is good, but the loading part of it is not. This needs to be a gunloading animation rather than a bow one.

This this movie a lot is explained about loading and firing an old musket.

Also the walking and idle animations needs to be changed. More like holding a gun.

From what I see your reference models (The 3D) have bayonets, is that intended ?

And is that rope needed ?

Well, I could think of including bayonets as a tech so maybe we could create a specific attachpoint for it?

These musketeers of old used a matchwork to fire there musket. That needs to be in. But that long rope to bear the gun easily isn't needed.
