Just curious, Stan, how did you create that render?

It's two beige lights, one casting ray traced shadows. Both are omni.

Also 8k Poly's is a bit too much for trees only. Maybe statues instead?

Maybe, but that may also look weird.

Ok we count props and the building separately

The Torres have many?

I think you meant "Towers" : 170 each.

And the dogs?

Dogs : 580 each

The carpet are from 3third Millenium BC .

You want carpets ?

Here is the one propped. Only issue 12K tris ( 8 * 934 for trees )

Are those trees you made, or trees from the game? You can normally reuse models from the game for this purpose. And if the game can make a forest with those trees, it should be able to render 8 of them on a big building.

Though, I wonder, will they be animated?

Wow, I sign this. Animations shouldn't performance lag, even though I don't know if the Renderer has more problems with rendering out plenty colour changing pixels or not. If it does ray-tracing perhaps -- but no, it should be okay performancewise to have them animated. Even settlers had them animated -- and with birds and butterflies in there. :)

If they are from the main game, they'll just inherit all animations from it too.

@lion, there's no problem with animated forests, and the animation is disabled by default, only activated in the high quality mode. So I don't think there's a problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

May I ask which kind of palms are used?

Also I noticed some glitches in the palm base (similar to as if the faces are duplicate.)

Lastly I noticed a couple of verts óutside the texture space.
