git clone https://gitea.itms.ovh/0ad/0ad.git in https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/BuildInstructionsGettingTheCode is not correct.
It gives "fatal: impossibile accedere a 'https://gitea.itms.ovh/0ad/0ad.git/':
Failed to connect to gitea.itms.ovh port 443 after 223 ms: Could not connect to server.
I think it should be git clone https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad.git

In https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/BuildInstructions below CentOs paragraph "./b2 install" has a bigger font. I believe it is an error.

So........

Can I make the same instance of the game work with both SVN (for the system files) and Gitea?

Hey :) Yes, but that's a new "SVN" called the Nightly Build. It is updated daily with latest system files, translations and whatnot, it is based on the latest version of the Gitea repo.

maybe if you cloned right into the svn directory?

Do I need an all-knew cloned instance of the game?

Unfortunately the former SVN repo and the nightly build are incompatible, you have to redownload. Checkout the nightly build using SVN (see the wiki). Then, if you still have some work lying around in the former SVN checkout, you can manually move it to the nightly build, or to a clone of the Gitea repo, without issue. After that backup, you can delete the old SVN repo, it won't receive any updates anymore.
