dankl__
i read on moddb that all that was left was carthaginian and iberian art as well as bug fixes and porting the tools to mac. is this true?
Mythos_Ruler
There are a lot of features to implement as well.
MrBlack103
Well, are all the planned units implemented yet?
dankl__
in another topic aeros says that theres no siege implemented into the game yet so i guess not
Mythos_Ruler
Traders need implemented (traveling between Markets), Siege engines need implemented, garrisoning, ships, better pathfinding, high level AI, and formations need implemented too. MrBlack103
Oh yaeh, that's right - You only have the phalanx formation ATM?
dankl__
Oh yaeh, that's right - You only have the phalanx formation ATM?i think they have some roman ones by the looks of some of the screensTraders need implemented (traveling between Markets), Siege engines need implemented, garrisoning, ships, better pathfinding, high level AI, and formations need implementedi noticed in the gameplay movie that the pathing of some units was very rigid and grid-locked so im glad that the team is taking time to polish that up. As for ai i dont really care because the only single player that i will play is the campaigns which usually come with a custom scripted AI of simply move the other players units with triggers
feneur
We don't have any formations implemented yet, the units in the screenshots are placed by hand.
Wijitmaker
Erik is right, formations do not function as one would expect through the game's UI, however the underlying code for formations is in place (by Andrew aka pyrolink) and simply needs to be refined in parallel with the required pathfinding updates. dankl__
just wondering how many different formations u guys plan to implement?
Aeros
In short... a bunch The longer story is everything is kind of a sandbox, its also a process of finding out if our ideas are good in gameplay as well as on paper, thats why we're a little uncomfortable discussing features in specifics, though we'll tell you what we think and how we'd like it to be, so long as you guys participate in that process with us and recognize it as such and know things could potentially change based on whats fun and what isn't.That didn't have much to do with formations, but I felt like putting that out there
FirePowa8
Not to ask a noobish question, but is it possible to actually play the game right now, despite the lack of some important features and with some bugs and tweaking? If so, it's certainly an exciting stage! Mythos_Ruler
Yes. It is possible to play a 1v1 multiplayer match, gather finite resources, capture territories, and fight, etc. at this point in development.
Justinian
So we are extremely close then?
Apomonomenos
I would say Yes, and No.Yes to the Betaand No to the actual version. If there was a Beta, that's what I would play all the time, instead of AoEIII.
feneur
If that's your standards for a Beta then I just gotta tell you our standards are higher...
Apomonomenos
If that's all I needed to be a Beta tester, then I wouldn't worry.I remember you said something about the qualifications, and I saved it into Microsoft NoteBook "Hmm, I see a chance to be evil =)But no, I won't be. The exact details will be decided later, but in general I'd say: * being active at the forums * being able to show some skill at RTS games * having a computer that can run 0 A.D. (of course ) * having enough free time to be able to test the game enough * being able to submit bug reports * being responsible (hard to check, but anyway, it's something we'll look for in those who'll be a part of the beta testing) * and perhaps cookies, lots of cookies (that would make it non-free though, so forget that )"So after reading that about 1000 times, I think I'm ready. feneur
Well, I don't see the Beta coming up just yet so I'd suggest getting something else to do than reading that Playing RTS games can't hurt

plumo
Personally I would create a page which would look like this...AI..........................15%Units......................90% doneyou get my idea
anarpointfinal
Maybe you could releash an Alpha, something more unfinish than the beta.
Apomonomenos
I know your idea, but the reason they don't do this is because what if they decide to add something, then the percentage will go down. And you can't really calculate progress, because it's completely new, and has no expectancy (on time)
