  1. Small streets I guess, without garbage and gangsters
  2. Hey, that's a serious offensive remark! In Germany they only have what we call "pisbier" (pee beer), meaning that it's all light pils In Belgium on the other hand we have every kind of quality beer you can imagine: Leffe (brown and blonde), Hoegaarden (white beer), all kinds of beer from the monasteries (Orval or Westmalle for example), the high-quality pils beers like Jupiler and Stella, and not to forget the very strong blonde beer Duvel (devil), etc.. The Japanese tourists are just crazy about Duvel; they think it's like German pils or Heineken and drink loads of it, while you can get seriously drunk after 4. And Interbrew (Belgian company) is the largest beer producing company in the world Nah, if there's something reserved for Germany it must be sausages
  3. Heh, you forgot beer Yeah, the Netherlands is pretty cool, though I haven't seen much of it yet (the big cities, most of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, Kinderdijk, the delta works). The Delta works were very impressive imo, anyone going to Europe should visit that. It's some kind of huge drain/sluice system protecting the inland from the sea. Picture Another picture
  4. Ok, I'll check out those small alleys
  5. Very interesting Curu, nice job The member from South Africa, is that Elite Raider?
  6. Why would you want to go to The Netherlands? There's nothing there besides Rotterdam, wind mills, dikes, wind mills, dikes, and Rotterdam (j/k for the friends of the Netherlands, you know how Belgians are )
  7. The 2nd August me and my gf are going to Rome for 9 days. Has anyone else here been to Rome and got some tips? I've been there 4 years ago, though only for 3 days, so I've only seen the usual stuff (colloseum, forum, trevi fountain, spanish stairs, vatican, etc.). So I'm interested in the more obscure things to visit that aren't that known. I'm also thinking about visiting the outskirts. Someone has any tips on that? I was thinking about Tivoli, old Ostia, and probably the castelli romani and the lake of Bracciano.
  8. I've been in Eze and Fragonard. Boy, did my noose hurt after that
  9. Well I hope they'll be good, that would be great I wish they had 2 year colleges around here. Well they do, but the degree you get is quite worthless. So if you want a decent degree around here you have to study at least 3 years or as much as 10-12 years (surgery).
  10. Congrats So what are the plans for next year?
  11. Well she's very cute, soft and and always wants to play with me. But if you don't know her well you'll have to watch out because she bites at you when she doesn't feel comfortable. Here's a pick of my Mientje (check those eyes out): Here she is Well my real gf is called Leen. We've been together for nearly 4 years now, and still counting. She's very sweet and she's always there for me, the best person in the world from my perspective Have a look here.
  12. I bought a Kingston 512Mb SD card a few weeks ago
  13. lol, then France is cheaper, I'll remember that for the future. Well a Big Mac Meal is 5.50 here, so in that area you're cheaper too. Hmmm, time to catch up
  14. Lol that's expensive too since here it's 5 euro for a pack of 6 0.5l bottles
  15. No sattelite pics, but plane pics: Here's where my mother is born (Eeklo): http://www.rlm.be/meetjesland/luchtfoto/fi...mages/3_jpg.jpg The church of Eeklo is quite huge, very impressive for such a small town. The building in front of the church is the town hall, so you can imagine how big it must be. http://www.rlm.be/meetjesland/luchtfoto/fi...mages/4_jpg.jpg This is where I live, Maldegem. You see the town's square and town hall. To the left is the Catholic school, the white building to the right is a castle which is now the police office, and the trees to the right is the town's park. In the top right corner where you see the parking lot is the town's swimming pool. http://www.rlm.be/meetjesland/luchtfoto/fi...mages/8_jpg.jpg Someone made a joke I suppose (zon = sun) http://www.rlm.be/meetjesland/luchtfoto/fi...mages/9_jpg.jpg Well the road around here are erm, quite complicated And last but not least my house: http://www.kvw.be/images/house.jpg To the left is the house where my grandparents used to live (sold it a few years ago) and to the right is my house. Everything that's between the roads (so the rectangular shape) is our farm, except the house on the left.
  16. One thing that is really expensive in France is beverage. Two weeks ago we went just over the border in France (close to St. Omer) and I was very surprised to pay 2.60 euro for a coke. In Belgium you'll pay that in a chique restaurant in Brussels, usually it's between 1.40 and 1.80. On the other hand wine is the same price as in Belgium and French longdrinks like Ricard/Pastis are much cheaper. We once had some French wine farmers staying at our home. When going back to France their car was loaded with chocolate, beer and other alcoholic drinks because these are so expensive in France compared to Belgium. The little bit of experience I had with traveling through Europe is that the Eastern European countries are the cheapest, then comes Italy, then Spain, Belgium, France, Germany and England as the most expensive.
  17. While you're in Normandy you could also pay a visit to Brittany to check out the dolmens. Oh, one thing I really recommend in Normandy are those little islands of which I can't remember the name . Maybe Curu knows? Mont St. Michel is pretty cool too but it's very very crowded. The coastline is quite nice, many old WW2 bunkers (the Atlantic Wall) and a nice rocky shoreline. Oh, and Lille isn't that for from Normandy either. It's a typical Flemish town (but in France) and very beautiful. Really worth paying a visit, especially for the architectural beauty, nice food (Flemish and French, best food in the world combined ) and great shops (especially for music instruments).
  18. Well if we would tell it wouldn't be something nobody knows about anymore
  19. Well I'll go with my gf so dorm rooms are out of the question I guess I'll follow your advice Curu, seems like the best choice. I noticed that the price difference is huge for hotels outside cities (was recently checking for Ljubljana, the difference was nearly 40%), so if there's a decent tube connection that sounds good.
  20. Yeah I was just joking. Just thought you were quite into the Belgian scene since you regarded Bruges as the capital of trance Yep in The Netherlands these things are extremely popular. I love techno even attracts many Dutch people.
  21. Lol you have a McDonalds in every town in The Netherlands or Belgium Btw Curu; I would also like to visit London again. Do you happen to know some affordable but good hotels?
  22. Hey I thought Belgian DJ's were the best btw, in Ghent (Belgium) we have the I love techno party, with over 35.000 people
