  1. I'd probably like irregularly-shaped maps. Just like a random blob of terrain.
  2. Take Theocracy, for example. It's a great game, on a massive scale (possible to have thousands of units at any one time), but it takes so long to learn to play effectively because it is so micro-intensive. Good thing it's one of those "do your actions and let time run" games
  3. Yeah, I'm kinda attracted to them too.
  4. Thanks, personally I love the idea of certain territories being disputed more.
  5. I just have a few ideas for how territories will work in 0 A.D., along with some population mechanics. Okay, here goes: Each territory has a "level". These levels are something along the lines of "capital", "rural community" etc. Depending on each territory's level, the amount of buildings buildable and the type of buildings varies. For example, a capital territory can have 20 houses built on it, and can have a wide variety of buildings, whilst a rural community might only have 5 houses and only basic buildings. Naturally, there would be fewer capital territories on the map and each player would start the game with one. Also, the variety of units createable might vary as well. Another feature might be that the graphics of a building could vary. For example, in the rural communities there might be cheaply constructed thatched buildings and dirt paths, whereas the capitals will be a lot more grander with stone roads and statues etc. You might have worked out that since the amount of houses would vary your population limit would vary according to what and/or how many territories you own. This would keep the amount of units on the map in check and make the player feel like they are not being limited, I think. Hope you like my ideas. They would probably make the game a whole lot more realistic and add new flavour to the gameplay, Ireckon. Please post your opinions or suggestions for this system.
  6. Personally, I think that this game would still be great even without blood. Nothing against it, though.
  7. Well I've got close ties to Scotland so Celts are the closest option to me.
  8. Sigh... Why won't this game have siege towers? They were actually used a lot by the more powerful civs from this era.
  9. In AoK I just simply build like 50 barracks and pump out medium infantry non-stop. Result: THE HORDE COMETH!
  10. I think people are forgetting to suggest what the cheat "code" for all these cheat units is going to be. Tyrannosaurus Rex - King of jurassic Utahraptor - prince of jurasssic Challenger 2 Tank - Boom boom UFO - we don't come in peace Ninja Woman - eastern female weapon Medusa - hissing hair Minotaur bull fighter Space Shuttle Challenger OV-099 - Race to the moon Giant Ant - big six-legger Hope these suggestions are good!
  11. Especially when catapults are firing on the archers. It looks really cool.
  12. lookin' forward to part II, then!
  13. Oh, and the other reason I don't like cheating AIs is because if there's no resources left on the map after a real long game, they have an unfair advantage over you.
  14. Good, I hated how in AoK and AoE there was virtually no need to establish a beach-head.
  15. I wanna see a "siege of Hadrians Wall" scenario!
  16. I don't like AIs that cheat, it just represents lack of effort on the creator's behalf.
  17. So, ideally, a cavalry unit would be roughly equal to two infantrymen?
  18. Could you make it so the units disembark only one or two at a time, then? I'm sick of transports that just touch land and then forty units suddenly appear. Also, will siege engines take up more room on vessels? I'm also sick of a single skiff being able to carry 40 trebuchets.
  19. Good to hear it Will you be able to order your archers to deliver volleys toward a certain area?
  20. Could there be an option to arrange the units into a custom formation. A good example of this is in Theocracy.
  21. Realistically, shouldn't they rape them first? Just kidding, that shouldn't be in a game. The kids might learn bad manners...
  22. awesome! So how many units will a decent ship be able to carry? And will you be able to move your units around on the decks of ships? I also had an idea that the bigger ships need to land their troops with small dinghys, or else they just run aground
  23. Also creates lots of "wilderness" instead of the entire map being a blob of buildings
  24. Darn, now I feel pretty stupid...
