Eastpawz Finally wins And on this one: it IS frustrating for players to have Gaia Heroes on Nomadic Regicide, but part of me wants to keep them because it's fun to watch.
-
Well, that's a little bummer for me if you guys plan to push it through.

A quick search shows that this feature was considered several times. I happen to want to keep the Scouting Feature manual. Taking care of your scout and constantly looking at your map maybe a mentally-disorienting thing, but it's one of my favorite RTS skill to develop. I feel that auto-scouting sacrifices the reward of having that skill for a more streamlined gameplay. I'm curious as to how the majority of the forumers feel about this, though. Hence, the poll.

Rushes are usually countered rather than prevented. Women are too weak. Spearmen counter them, but are too slow to catch up (a pros/cons thing). Archers? Win by tactic. Setting up 2 wood sources earlier on is a much better move. Just in case 1 woodline gets attacked, at least you're getting wood somewhere else. Even if your enemy manages to know that, he'll be forced to divide his forces, weakening his rush. When it comes to a generic build order, almost everybody builds a storehouse and clicks the wood upgrade immediately. The Wicker Basket upgrade is debatable. Some prefer upgrading it when there are more than 1 Bush packs. Corrals are established to be the most efficient food source at the cost of being more micro-intensive (Farm fields are the opposite). So your strategy depends on which you prefer. If you think that you're gathering too much of a certain resource, it doesn't hurt to shift your workers to something else. In fact, it's more beneficial. By the strategy you're trying to employ, looks like the Iberians will be a great faction for you. Early Co + Late Game Strategy.

So here's what I believe should've happened: Yellow uses Rome Lancer Rush against Red Sparta. Then Blue follows up with Slinger Rush. Boom! Purple Sparta will sweep with his Skiritais. Iberians aren't much of a threat until late game. But what happened was: Carthage provoked Sparta into attacking prematurely. Red Spartan was left happy to boom and employ his Rush. Then Iberian went for the sweep.

See that farm in the preview/thumbnail? Don't worry. I already told him.

Desired gameplay(planned) features for A23
sphyrth replied to Lion.Kanzen's topic in Gameplay Discussion
I withhold any desires until I see some of gameplay plans of darcReaver and wow have come to light. -
Now there might be enough replays to stockpile before Alpha 22.

Not exactly sure where she got that.

Her playstyle's still unrefined, but has significantly matured. Historic RTS players have such an advantage with the learning curve.

Ever tried a mod called "Delenda Est"? Players are limited to train only 1 Cavalry. You can't train another until it dies. That limit increases only when you teched up only to a Later Phase. I believe that it's a good limitation. Personally, I still think that Cav Rushing should still be viable, but not OP. Limiting it to 2-4 Cavs in Phase 1 should be the ideal number. Here's my Cavalry Irk: I still hold that Ranged Cavs < Melee Cavs for hunting food. They both have the same gathering rate but their LOW ACCURACY is making hunting with them quite unreliable. I'm better off scouting.

It's not the first time @OmriLahav's Honor Bound got used in videos, but BazBattles is one of my favorite channels.
-
For noobs, that isn't true given the fact that women's training time in houses is nearly doubled from the Civic Center's. BUT I do agree now because it's easy to spam houses. So, the next limitation would be to increase the train time further. If players really want the eco boost, then that can be a good factor.

Haha. Yes. It was an accidental wordplay when I was only going to play the word "Athenian" only. Going back, even before I was making this post. I was already switching back and forth between: "This is interesting" and "This is stupid!"
-
Okay this just popped out of my head, so I'll just put it out there. It's a messy post, I know. I was going to put this one up in the Suggestions thread, but the drastic gameplay implications are too many to handle. As a radical counter-suggestion to this post, why not make women only available in houses? I consider women to be super citizens. My main problem gameplay aside: If we're talking about concept alone, the word Civic Center will lose its meaning.

Slingers will be nerfed in the next Alpha. Not sure about the Counter system. Axemen is interesting, I just don't know if they're historically used for combat back then. I dunno. There was a gameplay consideration similar to those "infinite mines" you're talking about. It's being discussed already. Getting the map involved? I think much of your comments now are what darcreaver and wowgetoffyourcellphone's gameplay ideas are trying to implement.

As already said, look at it from the side of the one receiving the rush. You can't win just by hiding your units while your enemy strengthens up.
-
Didn't notice that. Rolling (on floor laughing), or rolling (eyes)?

The farther the fish is from the land, the better the catch (more fish). Fighting sharks? (This is a microing headache, so I'll just put it here) Since Naval Battle is unattended at best and broken at worst, it's difficult to judge how interesting it would be to make fishing boats engaging. My only real suggestion is that the fish should be placed on strategic points instead of seemingly randomly spread out. I'm referring to Skirmish Maps of course. But I think Random Maps should have a similar algorithm.

Hey @Lion.Kanzen, I think it might help to mention that you're a native of the language since he still disagrees with how JorgeGijon should be pronounced.
-
If you're one of those who disliked his videos, I know his criticisms are somewhat arbitrary (and are already being addressed in the forums). But since he likes the game and is just going for it one by one, just give him a chance and see if he can get into the meat of the problems.

Age of Empires definitive edition [remaster]
sphyrth replied to Lion.Kanzen's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Now you're reading farther into Microsoft's minds than I am. I'm willing to accommodate one theory for now: AoE copying 0 A.D.'s features. And then both games have their own "DE" versions, albeit way different in meaning. -

When it comes to issues, Zach saved the day in an earlier video. What do you mean? I thought there were enough differences: Territorial Boundaries, each "Town Center" and Starting Citizens look unique, capturing structures, units gaining exp, etc.. All of these while *visually* similar to any historic RTS in the market. -
Deciding to update, she found a way to get Alpha 21.
