  1. I have many of the same files you have there except mine are in C:\ and not in any folder. They appear to be boot files. I also have files like pagefile.sys which is the swap file for the OS. Whatever you do, don't delete them, they are very important files. They only use KB of hard disk space and if that weird folder bothers you, set the hidden attribute to it so that it doesn't show.

  2. It is a very cool patch. For those of you that don't believe me that it works, here is the proof. This is unbelieveable for SP2. There is no way i would have been able to make this many connections without the patch. Here is the picture:

    http://img30.exs.cx/img30/6880/incredibleconnections25bp.jpg

That is incredible and for those of you that have shareaza you know that. Look how many packets and KB have been transfered to the various connections. Incredible, thanks to the patch.

  3. Windows XP SP2, in case you didn't know, has limited the number of simoultanous connections that your computer can make to 10. Know that SP1 had no connection limit and that by limiting the connections to 10 your computer's internet connection was mildly slowed and completely set to a crawl for P2P programs. If you have a firewall and you know you are safe from viruses and worms (like me), then I recommend you download this. It is a patcher that directly patches the tcpip.sys system file which is the cause of the limitation. It backs up the original (i backed it up myself too, just in case) and then creates a new tcpip.sys file with the limited number of connections that you specified. So far it has increased my P2P program performance significantly.

The site you can get this neat patcher from is:

    http://www.lvllord.de/

Keep in mind that modifying the OS system files is in violation of the EULA that you agreed to when you installed the OS.

Just don't say, nobody will know :P.

  4. You should get a newer version of norton that prevents malicious scripts from running. The newer versions, 2003, 2004, and 2005 have script blocking too. They stop mallichous scripts from running. I am not so sure the older versions have it. Mainly the older versions check the computer for .exe file viruses and such, but not an actual script that may be executed by retarded outlook.

  5. Yeah, that is retarded. Why would to pay money for stuff you can get for free. The new version of spybot is intense. It scans the computer in 3min compared to the previous versions that took 10min. If you haven't upgraded to the new version, you really should. Spybot also pointed me to a site that has a freeware spyware prevention program. It prevents spyware from being downloaded to your computer in the first place by blocking all known spyware active X controls in Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Firefox browsers as well as cookies and much more. It also doesn't add any new processes or anyting to the system, but rather automatically tweaks the settings for blocked content on the browsers security options. It has a huge database of spyware and adware programs and since i got it, i have had no new adware cookies added to my computer. I have scanned several times now and i don't have any new items (spyware or adware cookies in particular) on my computer. It works real well IMO. Here are the links to download the new version of Spybot and that spyware and adware prevention program called SpywareBlaster.

    New version of spybot:

Spyblaster (really great program that doesn't hurt system performance and works really well IMO):

Both of the above programs are freeware.

  6. 2Wire router with an excellent wireless connection at 11 megs per second

Well there's your problem. I have routers too and they tend to have firewalls built into them. Also, the wireless router you are referring to is probably an 11Mbps router which doesn't run at 11 Megabytes per second, it runs at 11 megabits per second. What is the difference you say? A lot.

    Here is what it is:

11 Megabits is 1.3750 Megabytes per second, plus it probably never runs at maximum speed based upon how far you are from the router, electrostatic interference, etc.

Also, i have two routers of my own. One regular router and a wireless router. They are connected, but when i connect to the wireless router with one computer and the regular router with another, they don't detect each other on games. If i connect two to the same either wireless or non-wireless router with two computers, the games have no problems detecting each other, so that is how i get around the problem. In the case of the internet, it could be similar, but the firewall that you may have built into your router could be giving you a beating as well. Try plugging the computer directly into the router and play it that way. If that doesn't work try to access some settings on the router to check for a firewall and disable it whenever you are playing games. Also since you have SP2 check to make sure the Microsoft firewall isn't being retarded and blocking things. Hope this helps.

If your router is a linksys, then to access it click the link below:

    http://192.168.1.1

A dialog will prompt you for your username and password, if you didn't change the default settings then type "admin" into the password box and leave the username box blank. Then hit enter. You will then be able to see and change the options are your linksys router.

  7. Sam: That is also known as suffocation.

I sleep on my left or right side. I tend to sleep on my left though since my bed is parallel to a wall and when i sleep on my left side my face is towards to wall so i am not bothered if anyone or anything happens in my room. I also usually sleep with one pillow over the ear that is exposed, that way i am prepared for anything and nothing will disturb my sleep. :saruman:

  8. I got new speakers today! I got logitech z5300 speakers. 5.1 surround sound and 220 watt plus 500 watt peak power. I just put them in and they are absolutely amazing. They came with a control that controls the subwoofer volume, master volume, fade volume, and center speaker all seperately.

@Dnas: Assembling a computer is a snap. Took me like 4 hours to completely assemble it from scratch and install the OS. The only problem is that i had to get a new graphics card, so that delayed me. I was going to use my 9700 Pro AIW but that wasn't compatable with my motherboard so i got an X800 Pro. After 4 hours of driving all over town, from Ventura to Los Angeles, I finally found one store that had an X800 Pro in stock. I bought it immediately and didn't let go of it. Then i yelled, "It's mine!" Then i went home and plugged it into my computer. Expensive, yes. It was completely worth it IMO and there is no game that has been able to stump it yet on absolute highest settings.

  9. 31+

Give up now and i promise to spare dee women and children!

You are mine now, you belong to me!

Yeah, that's all i can think of. I was going to say, "All your base are belong to us!" but then i looked up and realized i had been beaten to it! :)

  10. Yes. I finished it this week. I got a new computer and my mom is going to take my other one. Anyway, i bought all the parts of Newegg and assembled it myself. If you are curious it is a:

    AMD 64 3500+ Winchester

    ASUS "A8V Deluxe" Motherboard

    2GB PC3200 RAM

200GB Western Digital hard drive 8MB buffer 7200rpm (Already had in old computer)

120GB Barracuda Seagate SATA II hardrive 8MB buffer 7200rpm

    ATI X800 Pro video card

    Pioneer DVR-108 DVD burner

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (Salvaged out of my old computer too)

Thermaltake case with 420 watt psx and the computer has 9 cooling fans in all.

I love it. So far i am so incredibly happy with it. The whole system cost me $1400 i think(the 400 dollar graphics card was so worth it). It is so xtreme. I get 60fps on Doom 3 1600*1200 resolution at Ultra Quality. I may give some pictures when i add some more lights to the case. If i had gotten the same system off Alienware it would have cost me i belive $2500.

  11. Ohh yuck. I got rid of linux by simply repartitioning the whole drive and reformatting it and then i installed windows.

If you are messing with partitions, use this. It is made by Seagate and Western Digital has their own version of this program, but it should work with any drive regardless of the manufacturer(at least that is what i have found out in my experience).

Its called DiscWizard. There are three versions. Check them out here.

  12. Well anyway, i got Half Life 2 Thursday of off steam and it is the best. I love the graphics, xtreme physics and the enemies. I think that it is better than Halo IMO but that is just my opinion. Some screenshots.
