  1. See, i knew you guys would like it. Please take a look at this guys. I spent a while writing up the documentation and i really think you will find it useful and enjoy it. Chris(Lorian), Desmond(King Tutankhamen), and Bobby(CheeZy) liked it. I think you will too. Please check it out. I feel like having this thread moved to General Chat or fun and games because it isn't a technical article and i feel that some people don't even bother coming in here because they are intimidated.

  2. Yes, i couldn't have said it better Frank. I am happy with my Zen Touch. It is made of a steel all around except for the very front hard plastic face plate which feels like it has steel behind it. It makes the player heavier than an IPOD by not much, but it increases the durability of the player since steel is much stronger than any plastic. Basically, it is better made than an Ipod IMO and my friend droped his mini and it dented pretty bad. Probably because the Ipod mini doesn't have a strong thick steel shell like this one(for weight reasons). I can hold this player in my hand and squeeze as hard as i can and the steel shell doesn't budge or bend.

This player also doesn't need Itunes to put music on it, but i would highly recommend using the program that came with it to make playlists. THe player works with pretty much any MP3 transfer program.

It plays .mp3(all including VBR of course), .wma, and .wav files. Ipods don't play .wma which is the second most popular audio format. IPODS play some weird other formats like apple lossless and AIFF which i don't use and i don't think you guys use those strange formats either. I do bet you have .wma files on your computer though.

Now for a few negative things about it this player. It doesn't show up as a drive. I will show you what i mean. It doesn't have a plug and play feature, but i hear they may update the firmware to fix that. IMO, the plug and play is nice, but not needed. All you have to do if you want to hook it up to another computer is download the software off:

    http://www.creative.com/support.

For you Tim you would want to visit http://de.europe.creative.com/support/ because it is in german there.

Also the Zen Touch has a touch pad on it. You have to get used to it, but once you do it isn't that hard to use. I would recommend the lowest sensitivity setting since that seems to work best.

Also, the player sorts the songs by ID3 tags. This can get anoying,(if the mp3 files you are adding don't have their ID3 tags filled out) but not that much since you can make playlists and add the mp3 files to a certain playlist. You can que up multiple playlists or browse by song and select what songs to add to now playing. It also sorts by the album name, artist, and by genre.

Now, this is a rating from CNET:

    Design 7

    Features 6

    Performance 9

-That is how CNET rated my Zen Touch. Please pay attention to Performance because that is where they rate the sound quality.

The patient CNET Labs was able to squeeze an ear-popping 26 hours out of the Zen Touch.

I want to see them do that with an Ipod. 26 hours of non-stop music playing shows that this player has it where it counts. It can also by used for data storage and file transfering because there is a folder on the device for such use.(The folder is titled "Data Library" and the other folder is titled "Music Library")

The sound quality of the Creative Zen Touch impressed us, thanks in part to its signal-to-noise ratio of less than 97dB. We hooked it up to a quality home stereo and enjoyed rich, powerful sound. We recommend a good pair of headphones to take advantage of the warm sound, as the included earbuds don't do the Zen Touch justice.

If you do get this, get these.

    http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....ctSKU=MDREX71SL

They come in white and black. These earbuds are the best and I got them myself. Very good quality and you can't hear any outside noise. People can be talking around you but you can't even hear them because the earbuds are silicon. The earbuds also come with three different sized silicon fittings and a carrying case.

I said above that the device doesn't show up as a drive. Instead it has its own section under My computer. There are several groupings under My Computer in windows. "Files Stored on This Computer", "Hard Disk Drives", "Devices with Removable Storage"(DVD, CD-Drives, IPOD, etc), and there is another section called "Other". Right there is a icon of a creative MP3 player with the text, "NOMAD Explorer". That is how the player is displayed on the computer.

I hope this helped Tim. I could only help you to understand this player since I don't have an Ipod. Also, look here for the rest of the article on the Zen Touch.

  3. Well i myself got a Zen Touch because Ipods are more of a name brand. My 40GB Zen Touch has longer battery life (24 hours), better sound quality (same manufacturer as the Sound Blaster cards), and is better made. It was also cheaper than the Ipod. It doesn't have a load of features like games and stuff which i hear the Ipods have, but then again i just wanted an MP3 player that was really good at doing one thing. Playing mp3's.

  4. yo estoy estudiando español cautro en mi escuela.  mi clase está tratando aprender la idioma y algunos de las personas pueden hablar muy bien.

    ¡me gusta español!

    Translation:

"I am studying spanish four at my school. My class is mostly learning the language and sometimes the people can speak it very well."

That is what i got from it and i did that with my head, not a translater.

  5. It comes with earbuds but they aren't exaclty like the ipod ones. I myself had to get these because they have the best quality:

    http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP...._FontopiaEarbud

Though they are 50 dollars, they come with a case and three silicon earbud sizes so that it fits your ear correctly. When i have these in and music going, i can't hear anything else. The sony earbuds are a great buy.

The ones that come with the player seem bulky and have ok sound quailty. I would highly recommend the sony if you get this player since this player probably has the highest quality of any player on the market and very good quality headphones are a must for a very good quality mp3 player.

  6. So the new version of messenger has you down because it doesn't allow you send many of the common file types. Whenever you attempt to send such a file, the person you are sending it to appears to cancel it because their MSN Messenger does not accept certain file types. Sound familiar? Extremely irritating, yes. How you fix it, simple, rename the file but that is a waste of time every time you need to send a file as well as a hassle.

To fix this i made a program. It renames the files automatically once you have received them and it renames files so that you can send them as well.

Simply right click the file, navigate to Send To, and then click ASDF Transfer Utilty. A half second later a new file appears in the same location with a .asdf extension added to it. YAY, that was easy and not time consuming. Plus you didn't have to say yes to that retarded Windows, "Are you sure you want to rename this file because doing so could be bad blah blah....." Now all you have to do is drag and drop the newly named file onto the message window.

Receiving files is just as easy. When installed, the program associates all .asdf file extensions with itself. All you have to do to rename an .asdf file that someone just sent you is double click it. It is then instantly renamed back to its original extension and you simply double click the newly renamed file as you normally would.

Sound yummy? I hope it does. It also has a GUI that you can access from the start menu and quick launch toolbar. The GUI opens and allows you to drop one file at a time onto it. It then copies the file and renames it in its original directory. The original is left in tact and is not modified. A new file with an .asdf extension is created in the same directory though.

Same thing goes for receiving files. If you want, you can access an Open File GUI by going into the start menu and by clicking ASDF Receive. An Open File dialogue opens (Default open directory in My Received of course ) and you may select the file with the .asdf extension to rename.

    Note:

ASDF Send is used to rename files to .asdf extension so you can send the file to your contacts.

ASDF Receive is used to rename .asdf files back to their original extension once you have received the file from one of your contacts.

I hope you guys enjoy this as much as i enjoy it. It makes my file sending and receiving experience much easier. Report any bugs here and I will fix them ASAP. Please take a look at it. Thx

    Brian :)

  7. I wrote this in a scripting language similar to visual basic and .vbs scripting language. I am going to post another app or so that i just made. I am pumping these things out now. Feel free to give me ideas for apps when you get annoyed with certain things on the comp. So far i have made a messenger transfer file utility(for sending files through messenger that are normally blocked because of their file extension), Force Delete (for deleting those problem files that don't want to delete), an open close program that find all the cd drives on your computer and allows you to open them and close them with the click of a button(explorer version sucks under my comp because it only allows eject), and Hotkey Spammer which is a program that allows you to bind keys so that it types phrases into dialogue windows. Great for message programs or video games . It allows you to type in the phrase you want and allows you to select the key to bind to the phrase.

  8. I did things like that in the past ProgramZeta. It however causes actual change to the computer. With this program i can simply turn it off and everything goes back to normal. If i changed all the internet shortcuts, i would have to change all of them back and there is also no guarantee that the user just wouldn't simply type in run: iexplore.exe. I also wrote this just to practice my programming.

  9. Glad you liked it CO. I like it when people like what i made. I have since made two more programs that you guys can use. I think i will post them on the forum. I try to make useful programs that solve anoyances. Destroying computer anoyances once anoyance at a time. :D

  10. Thanks Desmond and Nathaniel. I just felt the need to make a program that combats ignorance. People that use computers can be completely ignorant when it comes to security and giving out personal information on the internet. No wonder so many people get in trouble this way. This is just a small step to preventing it. Firefox is used less and is more secure, so I hope to promote a safer online experience by forcing people to be smarter about their web surfing habits.

  11. Ok, so my sister uses her computer to surf the internet quite a bit, but lately she has been using Internet Explorer whenever i check. It is annoying since she has firefox installed on her computer. Well anyway, i have to keep cleaning up all the garbage that Internet Explorer allows on her computer and i am getting tired of it. (Spyware, adware, and all that good stuff.) So i wrote a little program that forces her to use Firefox. This is a great prank or just great if you want to get people to break the habit of using Internet Explorer. How it works is it sits in the memory (using about 3MB of RAM) and it waits for Internet Explorer to be started up. Once it detects iexplore.exe it immediately ends the process, looks up the directory in the registry for Firefox, and executes a new instance of firefox. How great is that? Now when the user clicks Internet Explorer, Firefox appears. It seems to work pretty well on the computers I tested it on. You don’t have to take my word for it though. Try it out yourself. It is great. It has no GUI and is therefore hidden. To close it you simply do an End Process in task manager. I should probably make a special key command to close it in the future. Any recommendations are helpful and feel free to report any bugs. Thanks.

  12. Wow. The screenshot looks amazing guys. The game seems to be really coming along. Good job. I remember when you just started the game and didn't have much but now you have this. Your hard works seems to be paying off. :D :D

  13. I just bought a 40GB Zen Touch (three weeks ago) and i am happy with it. It does things differently than the other players. but if you can do it, it has better quality and longer battery life. Just don't leave it plugged into the comp without using the power cable because that seems to wear down the battery really fast. Also, buy it from Best Buy and get the warrenty that costs about 30 dollars. Then anytime within two years, you can go up to them and say the battery life is no longer up to par and then they have to replace it because it is under warrenty, the batter included. Best Buy will also give you your money back so that you can buy a newer model or different model of your choice. HMM, sounds yummy to me. Best Buy also has the best price for it too, i looked around. This Zen Touch also has probably the best sound quality of any player out on the market right now because creative also makes 24bit sound cards and they like to integrate that with their other products.

  14. I never had this problem Mythos. I installed SP2 on several computers but none of them reacted negatively to it. I would try uninstalling SP2 and reinstalling it. Something could have gotten messed up in the install and that is what is causing the problem. I hope you get it resolved. I also have the patch to open more ports on your computer to those of you that want it.

  15. What is the exact error message? Also, i don't fully understand, does she download .exe programs off the site and then install them and get errors, or do you play the games through the browser? Try to be more specific.

  16. Check this out. I found the Hollywood sign. Look at the top of the mountain and you can see the letters because the satellite wasn't directly above them:

  17. All right, working on it now because i didn't use too many comments when writing it so i am adding them now. I am releasing the source in the hope that you guys will give me ideas when you look at the source. Also, i don't know how to get rid of a hotkey declaration. I can declare a hotkey, but i don't know how to undeclare it. In addition, I updated some things and now i am about to release v1.1 of the program. Thanks, i will post an edit with the source.

    Ok, here is the source:

  18. Well, i know that most of the guys on this forum are computer 133t. The reason i made this program is not because i thought that you couldn't disable messenger on your own, but because i know that tons of people out there are no where near as computer savy as us. Trying to explain some of the things we do here to some people takes about 30 min. I know becuase i have helped friends with problems in the past and what would take me 30 seconds to do takes them about 15 min. As a result, i made this program for you guys. If you ever have anyone complain about Windows Messenger or can't get them to login to MSN Messenger correctly, you would simply send them my program and they would disable it at the click of a button. I assure that this program isn't a virus. It is a UPX packed .exe written in a form of visual basic in notepad by me and only me. So if you want to give it to people you know to assist them in disabling Windows Messenger feel free to do so. That is why i created this program. I hope it saves you guys 30 min in the future.

  19. Haven't had any problems after using my patch. MSN Messenger seems to run fine without Windows Messenger running. I also checked and it doesn't appear that Windows Messenger is a service, at least not on my machine. Anyway, i have had no complaints from anyone who has used it and it works fine. I tested it out on several computers probably over 100 times as I was writing it to check for bugs. In the event that a feature requires Windows Messenger to be running, i simply open my disabler and click the enable button and it fixes Windows Messenger so that it is fully fuctional again. I just thought it was a good idea since it was anoying to do it manually. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback and i hope you guys check it out. :)

  20. Yup, and it runs in the background without you knowing it is even on. It also sometimes enjoys logging into your passport when you are already using MSN and therefore it signs you out which is extremely irritating IMO, especially when you are talking to someone.

  21. It requires you to run a special program using a link but it is very hard to get the link to the uninstall program and hard to remove. This program doesn't remove it, but disables it by moving the executables so that the OS can no longer find them. If you remove messenger from your system completely, your system will be impaired because some features are integrated with messenger such as the Remote Desktop Connection feature that allows people to remotely connect to your computer to assist you with problems. Some other features are integrated with it too, so completely removing it is a bad idea, but disabling it so that it no longer bothers you is much better IMO. This program does that for you at the click of one button and it enables it again with the click of a button. So i think this is much better.
