I am sorry to have this old thread back, 3 months after, but today was the maiden flight of the A380 ... I was there ... I will post some of my photos on this thread later on, but for the moment, you can enjoy there:

it was so big ... so slow when it took off ... it seems it was so light ... well, it was a great experience ... and I am so proud the first flight was performed in my home region

Well, I can't agree more with you, that's why I didn't post anything contradictory

thanks ... I will try the test overnight ... and if it ever happens again, I will do what you told me

Gérard Depardieu shot a film a decade ago about Cyrano de Bergerac and it was quite a success over here. It was a very good film ... it is the original play made into a film ... a bit like the Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes ...

Lorian ... I just heard there were some flaws on Firefox and since I updated my FF, that problem has not occured yet ... I am not blaming FF .. onthe contrary !!! that's the reason why I swapped from IE to FF .. at least FF corrects the flaws!
Anyway, I ran Prime95 for 3 hours and no problem was found with the CPU or the RAM ... I was just a bit scared to see my CPU at full speed for so long
Anyway, thank you very much.

Thanks a lot ... I will tell you if that was what went wrong ...
I also saw Firefox had some flaws ... could it be that?

0AD ... to see where Jesus was born ... and around 36AD, time of his death ... I would like to see Rome at the time of Michaelangelo as well ... to see what it was like before he designed the cupola ...

KingTut ... it's Cyrano de Bergerac, a French classic ...
Bergerac is a little town, 100 miles from where I live ... he is the local hero
As for me, I read "Angels and Demons" lately ... and "the Foucault Pendulum" by Umberto Eco ...

Sometimes, when I use my computer, suddenly the screen goes black without prior notice ... the only way I can get back to Windows is to turn off the computer and switch it on again (I can press Reset button as well) ... This has happened a number of times and occurs every now and then ... usually once or twice a week. Then, when I am back on Win2K, and use Firefox, all my Bookmarks and my History has disappeared ...
Anybody has an idea of what this could be?
I am sometimes quite scared of what it could do to my compter ...
PS: I thought it could be a virus, but I have run my anti-virus many times and it never shows up a virus ...

Well, all in all, prices in rural France must be roughly the same as in deep rural America ... and prices in Paris must be the same as in New York, to a certain extent ...
the cheapest hotel you can find in Paris is €35 ... that is US$40 ... but, you won't have a bathroom in the room with that price ... a room with bathroom must be a minimum of €45-50 ... per night obviously.

And you should amend the title as well
it is not "Habemus Papa" , but it should be "Habemus Papam" since "Papa" is at the accusative (that is to say the object) ... We have what? a Pope ....

Well Titus ... I am sure you will not find any Maoist or Stalinist in the US ... isn't the Communist Party forbidden in the US ?
If you come to Europe, there are a lot of people who claim themselves as Maoist or Stalinists or Trotskyists ...well, at least in their youth
And calling Stalinism and Maoism philosophies "communism" is exactly the same as claiming that the US is a capitalistic country ... which it no longer is ...

Well, a pack of 6 in here is less than €4, but if you buy a can in those automated machines, it will cost you roughly €1
I can't believe we are having a discussion on Coke bottles
as a comparison, a Big Mac Meal in McDonald's is €4.50 IIRC (haven't been to McDonald's for months ...)

Well, the oil companies can become bankrupt, but the employees can work in hydrogen instead but the CEOs can be made redundant
-

Well, having been to most of the countries you quote (except Belgium) very recently, I can say that Spain has become cheaper than Italy now ... and England is leading from a far distance
But it's true that soft drinks are quite expensive in cafés ... in vendors, a can of Coke is generally between €1 and €1.50 depending on where you are ...

French catholics aren't very happy about it either ...
But he was JP2's right-hand man, as you said, and most of the voting cardinals had been appointed by JP2 ... so, they kind of elected a clone of JP2 ...
The man is 78, he is already old ... he may simply be a transition man, before a younger and more daring Pope is elected ...

Yehey!! Texacco, Total-Fina, BP, Shell, and all the other oil companies will be bankrupt and the world will finally be at peace

I agree with you Titus, BUT ... "democracy" means "the rule of the people" ... so, if 95% of the population (I am just exaggerating the percentage) thinks fascism is good, shall it be forbidden? that would be highly anti-democratic! On the other hand, if 95% of the population thinks fascism is good and is set up as a government, people voted for an anti-democratic party in a democratic system ... that's the paradox ...
and having parties forbidden (Neo-Nazis, Fascists, Communists, etc ..) equals turning the democracy in a pseudo-democracy since some of its people cannot express themselves ...
Must the population as a whole be considered as a child, whose decision has to be monitored in a way? Must people be protected from themselves in this case?

I was watching TV and there was a documentary about Danish Neo-Nazi groups ... In Denmark, the use of "National Socialism", "Nazi" is not forbidden, contrary to France and Germany. Denmark seems attached to its freedom of speech, which is very good ... but isn't it paradoxical to give freedom of speech to a political group that would stop any freedom (of speech and press included) as soon as they would get to power (which has already been done in the past)?
Democracy is offering anti-democratic groups a way to express themselves. Is that dangerous for democracy? and if so, would it be morally good to ban anti-democratic groups in a democracy? But then, there would be no real freedom of speech and the democracy would not be one ...
What do you guys think?

a lego set ??? good lord ... I haven't bought legos for at least 15 years
I can tell you that a baguette costs € 0.75 ... that is US$ 0.90 ...
then, a liter of petrol costs € 1 .. that is US$1.20 (but that doesn't count since US oil has no tax and is subsidised ) ...
what else ... ah ... 10 blank CDs cost € 5-6 ... that's a good example

I was about to post to say it is Nelson's statue when I saw he missed an arm ... then, I saw Ykkrosh's post of Trafalgar Square
Well done man!
can you post the article with that picture? I would be highly interested in knowing what the connection is ...

Well, it depends where you are ... it is definitely expensive to live in Paris (not as much as in London though) ... but outside large urban areas, life is not as expensive ... it is surely cheaper in France than it is in England or in Germany ... but it is more expensive in France than it is in Spain or Italy ...
