  1. What is TESV? The shot reminds me of this little April Fools prank we did some years ago: http://wildfiregames...page.php?p=7825
  2. This style of Stupa, though later than the Mauryan era, is still less elaborate than later dynasties and can be a good basis for the special building for our game's faction.
  3. re: Trebuchets. Eventually, Ballistas and Lithoboloi will act like Trebuchets did in AOK and pack up into carts for movement.
  4. To make 2D sprites you still have to model things in 3D, then convert them to sprites. In fact, you'd need to make very high poly 3D models first in order for the 2D sprites to look nice. To make animations you still have to make 3D animations first, then export them to 2D, a complicated process. So, by making the game 2D you are not making anything easier for development. The reason they did things in 2D back in the day (AOE1, AOE2, etc.) is not because of aesthetics, but because hardware was incapable of good real-time 3D graphics at the time.
  5. Your linked page has "lithobolos" listed as a stone thrower too, and Archimedes seems to have called his stone throwers "Lithoboloi." It looks like "palintonon" refers to the type of spring system used ("V-spring"). Also, as far as classical Greek fortresses go, the Athenians had one at Delium and one at Gyphtokastro (off the top of my head).
  6. It would also be possible to make mini-factions, which is an idea we discussed internally. Maybe 3 or 4 units, a hero, and 4 or 5 buildings per mini-faction. Anything like that is low priority and depends on our mood.
  7. We'll probably keep them in some way and use them in scenarios and campaigns representing other free Greek factions, like the Achaean League, Aetolian League, Argives, etc. If we decide to do that (I'm leaning toward 'yes'), then we'll probably tweak them a little bit and make them more generic, by stripping out the specific heroes and champion units. Maybe replace the heroes with a generic "Strategos" and give them the Thureophoros and Thorakites as their champion units. Just spitballin' here.
  8. Civ Bonus: +10% pop cap, so 330 instead of 300. (I want to give a similar bonus to the Persians).
  9. Mauryans will definitely have elephants. I'm thinking probably 2 different elephant units (an "elephant archer" as their "cavalry archer" class unit, and an "Armored War Elephant" for one of their Champion units), and then probably at least 2 heroes sitting on elephants.
  10. We've abandoned the "diverging" aspect in favor of full factions. So, a possible Ptolemaic faction would be its own faction, complete with unique unit, structures, heroes, and technologies from the start of the game.
  11. No. I meant have separate factions: Gauls and Britons. We've essentially abandoned the sub-faction idea in favor of more full factions.
  12. Welcome, David! What is your favorite faction so far?
  13. Nice! I like the look of the big stones mixed with smaller ones. Will look nice on stone walls and fortress.
  14. Hmm, "Agora" is the center of a Greek city, as you noted, so it makes sense to name the Civic Centre structure "Agora" for the Greeks. I'm also very sure that Emporeion means "Marketplace" or "Trading place" in Ancient Greek. Others on this forum can confirm or argue. Perhaps you can comment on this thread: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14581 We're still arguing about the proper terms for things over there. lol
  15. Random musing: The Egyptian Archaic Age houses from Age of Mythology are probably along the lines of what the Indian houses of this time looked like. I'm sure larger cities had large tenements and apartment buildings like the Romans did, but it would look weird to be building "apartment buildings" in Village Phase. Maybe in Part 2 we can make some kind of distinction between houses and tenements or multi-family dwellings.

  17. Heroes in the game do not have to be warriors.
  18. All right, so it looks like our biggest problem is coming up with proper reference images, specifically for structures.
  19. 10,000 Arabs in the Daphne Parade, apparently, which is a larger contingent of light infantry than any other I've seen listed in all of the Seleucid battles I've read about. Though, I kind of like the idea of using the Kurds (Kardakes/Cardaces).
  20. Looks like if applicants use Chrome, then they need to "Paste as plain text" when they copypasta the application form in their app threads.
  21. The Thracians are already largely represented in the armies of other factions or as mercenaries trainable by whoever has ownership of a Royal Stoa.
  22. The obvious easy choice would be to split the Celts into Gauls and Britons.
