  1. The conversations were going well when they left. Atavaryan praised Ithan like a proud father and Messúrie scolded him like she always did when Atavaryan got too excited. Smiling, Eresan and Arielle left the room.

Eresan - We'll leave at dawn in a week?

Arielle - Before dawn, it would be better, I killed some crebains today.

Eresan (angered) - He is watching us ?

Arielle - Not really, but following our tracks for sure.

    Eresan - How many ?

Arielle - Enough. Oh, how I despise Sauron and his techniques.

At that moment, they had arrived in front of her quarters and she pushed the door open so furiously is cracked. Eresan understood her anger and he let her calm down. He knew Sauron represented what she could have been, had she allowed herself to forget her morals. He knew that even though Arielle liked to destroy, she respected life, and the principles of Sauron really frustrated her.

Eresan - You didn't not become like him. You are not like him. You have fought the Lord before you accepted. He would probably never do so openly.

Arielle - I know I am different, I despise him for what he is and what he approves, but he is still more powerful than I and I cannot ignore the fact that he's been spying on us.

Eresan - We will leave before dawn then. Will you join me in my room ?

Arielle - I have a letter to write first.

Eresan - Very well then. I'll start reading my book.

With a twinkle in his eyes, he left the room. Arielle knew he didn't want to stay around her when Sauron was involved and she thanked him for that peace he gave her. She opened her pack, getting the ink, quill and parchment out. She dipped the quill and started writing a letter for Ithan. He would be her ambassador. With his honesty, he would certainly be a good one. In her letter, she asked for him to stay for at least a month or two or even more, as he deemed necessary, until they could send him a messenger. If she was not to return, he would have to call the other hunters so they could choose a successor. Once she finished writing it was already late in the night, Arielle shook the paper in the air so the ink would dry. She rolled it and put her seal on it. Then walked to Ithan's room while he was sleeping and put it on the side of the bed. Afterwards she joined Eresan in his room and forgot all her problems in the night.

Year 54:"end of winter", time of departure from Senna

It was midnight, the sun was down and the dawn far in time. Arielle came back to the room and picked up her weapons and pack...Eresan was waiting for her outside his own room. Without a word, they got out of the palace and the fortress as swiftly as they could. No one noticed them except Caltanar who waved goodbye from the upper part of the wall. They started along the river, walking at first then running as if they were pursuing a prey. They kept the pace for a long time, only stopping for a bit of water. Eventually, they would reach the entrance of the pass, and this, would be much more interesting.

  2. I do think it was justified. I do not believe as profoundly as you do and when I read you reply, it seemed as I was wrong not to believe. I was also angry since it seemed like the other's beliefs were not important.

I accept your apologies. But let's not make a topic like that again.

  3. Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what then?

Depends what you mean by afterlife. If you mean paradise where you never grow hungry or there is no sadness ? no. I tend to believe more in reincarnation, when we have no knowledge of our past lives. Either that or we dissapear into nothingness.

Afterlife is a difficult thing to define, it is what's beyond death. No one has even seen it even though there has been some experiences (out of body experience, the tunnel with the light etc). I think we created Heaven and Hell for two purposes, 1) to reassure ourselves and 2) to influence our behavior. After all, if we do believe bad action means bad consequence after our death we will not commit any bad action no ?

I do hope there is something happier beyond death...it's a natural way to think since we protect ourselves from the unknown by believing in something.

    Comments ?

  4. Actually, you bring up a good point.  Why exactly do you call yourself a Christian, but only believe that there is something greater at work, instead of acknowledging God?  I'm not trying to force you one way or the other, i'm simply stating up until recently, people only called themselves Christians when they believe that they are going to Heaven simply because of their faith in God that His Son took all our sins.  Now it typlifies people that don't want to be called Muslim, Catholic, Atheist, whatever.

I did believe in God some point in the past. I even got to the Church from time to time. But it is because I was baptised that I'm considered Christian, Catholic if you prefer. Since I had no will at that moment (i was a baby), it could be that I'm not a real "believer". I do not believe I'm going to Heaven, nor do I believe I am going in Hell. I do think you are responsible of your actions though.

I don't have to debate this

Then why did you post ?

I guess it would be better if we didn't go in that direction any longer, it could very well become an ugly thread. Especially since people all have different beliefs and I don't want to offense anyone especially concerning religion.

You have your belief, I have mine, let's leave it at that.

  5. I am a christian, but I've been greatly uh, skeptic lately. I guess that it comes with age. I mean, there must be something really powerful out there, but to make it into a human form and giving it human characteristics is beyond me. But I don't think this is the point of this thread, so better ignore this reply, I'll think of something better...

  6. I believe it was inappropriate, as Akya said.

Where did I say that ? :indifferent:

    *re-reads...*

oh, I was correcting Uppy's spelling :worship:

but now I do judge that considering some forumers' age, it would have been innapropriate. if such content must be displayed, a warning should be displayed ...or maybe have a forum for 18 and above ?

maybe that would be too complicated considering some people may lie about their age, but it's a suggestion anyway.

  7. Year 54:mid-"winter", one day after their arrival in the city

Arielle woke up in a cry. Eresan was immediatly at her side comforting her.

    Eresan - Bad dream ?

Arielle - Nightmare. It happening more often these days, I don't like it.

Eresan - Atavaryan is already up, he and Messúrie have gone to fetch Ithan and bring him to the weaponmaster. They'll probably check out the armed force of this city. Caltanar has gone to scout the whole city and check out some information.

Arielle - Where will you be going ?

Eresan - In the crypts and the librairies, if they have some. I'm going to do a little bit of research on the history of this place. You, you probably need some time alone.

Arielle - Yes. I think I'll go in the wilds today, checking out the river and the terrain. I'll be back for supper to see Romenion.

Eresan - Well, you better get dressed. The sun is nearly up.

He left the room to fetch her weapons, knowing Arielle usually took her time to prepare. He came back as she was brushing and tying her hair in a ponytail.

Eresan *smiling* - You look good, better than I have seen in centuries !

    Arielle - Stop that *chuckling*

He left the room again this time to do the research he had told her he'd do. Arielle finished packing and securing her daggers and sword. Picked up a bow and a quiver, then left the room after tidying it up a bit. Once outside the citie's walls she relaxed a bit, turning around it, to check the height of those walls, they couldn't be climbed, the guards were almost everywhere. It seemed like a great fortress, they had had a great time to improve it. And with the fact they didn't know what was at the North or the NorthEast, so it was predictable. Once she had made half of the outside, Arielle decided it was enough and instead, came back toward the river. Following it up North for about a couple of hours. The terrain wasn't difficult, only toward the pass would it become such she thought, the beasts she encountered were mostly grazers and predators one would usually see when travelling in a plain. The moutains could be seen clearly, even though they were a few days march away. Once she had stopped to take a break, she studied the relief very carefully noting the details she could see of it from that far. It wasn't much, but it would be enough.

Arielle then turned back, heading toward the fortress again, it would be dusk by the time she'd reach it. And she still had to talk with Romenion before leaving in 7 days with Eresan.
