  1. Although she was asleep, Arielle felt the link joining their 5 minds, she couldn't answer and they couldn't feel her either but she was glad all were alive and well. Then, surprisingly, another joined them. Its force was not the same as theirs but it was in part Maia. She could recognise the feeling. Arielle kept pacing in the white chamber of her mind, she couldn't feel any other Maia near which meant Sauron was not there. She relaxed a trifle, letting herself wander more profoundly in herself to heal the wounds she had suffered. Once this was done, she came to a more conscious state, thinking of a way to get out of this prison. It could be done by sheer force, but then again, those Arms of fire were a hindrance to their escape. It took a long time to figure all of that. The 5 other minds still present in the connexion talked with a lot of enthusiasm. Something she was happy to know. When finally she was ready to wake up, she felt the fifth mind send something in a hurry, information. Then the connexion was abruptly severed. Arielle woke up at that second, getting up on her feet. She retained the information behind closed doors in her mind, her trained memory where she could litterally not forget unless she wished to. And approached the door, through the bars, she saw a curious priest in the cell beside hers. The priest was smiling broadly. Arielle let down her superficial shields, and contacted the others. She wanted to know what had happened.

  2. Caltanar was the one to wake up first. She had succeeded in almost evading the stab, thus the sleep had been shorter. In 30 seconds, she had already seize the situation they were in. And it wasn't good at all, but she had to wait for the others to wake up if she was to mindspeek to them.

Atavaryan was the one who had taken the most hits since it was his role, as the protector of the group. Therefore, when he had waken up, he hadn't move an inch and just laid down on the floor, recovering his strength and allowing his body to heal.

    ***

Messúrie woke up with a big headache. She had fallen too quickly to know what had happened. And just right now, she didn't want to open her eyes and let the headache worsen.

Eresan woke up and immediatly started searching for a reference in his mind. He had remembered the creature easily, but added the fact it was very difficult to hit. Then, he searched for reference to the zone they were in, from the looks outside, there was a desert and they weren't close to either the mountains or the water. So it was a good bargain to assume they were in the middle of both. It would be a good idea to keep this in mind.

Arielle didn't wake up. As the knife had pierced her flesh, she had used her power to plundge herself into an even deeper sleep. To get away from the place where she was and the visit of Sauron, if he ever came to see her...and to think about the possible issues of their situation. It would give her some time for only she could control her awakening.

  3. @Black Op : Now that was harsh !! :P What can I actually do with them now ? ;)

It seems I'll have to bring back Ithan and the 20 up front. However with the philosophy of Rekiger, it might be difficult to manage anything else than preparing defenses.

As for the wolves and the island, you promised me not to touch it !!! ;)

  4. To sneak into the lines wasn't so hard. Sauron used a lot of humans this time, as scouts or for other combat utilities. So they presented themselves to the person in charge of the scouts...as meaningless warriors recently recruited. They arranged it cautiously so they would be in charge of the patrols on the East border close to Eofenwendil. After doing what they were told for a few days, then a few weeks, they got tired of it. And decided they would get out the day after. Since the guards of the border were always awake, there would be a fight to get on the other side. But it was nothing they couldn't handle...silently.

  5. After a few days of scouting, north and south of those mountains, the 5 realise they were really stuck where they were. The island, the ancient capital was still intact although it had started to be covered with forest. Toward Saurondil was most of Sauron's forces, close to the seaway, since Eonwe laid(sp?) a bit more North of there. On the East, more men were sent to kill them, on the west, there was nothing but the sea. One day or another, they would be captured if not killed. Therefore, the 5 hunters started gathering animals, keeping them alive to create a breeding stock they would bring to the island, alot of them so even if the wolves ate a few, there would still be enough to last and reproduce. They gathered different sorts, the pack of wolves helping them greatly. A ship was anchored west of them (something the 25 had used in case of extreme necessity), in the small bay down the mountains, they used it to bring the wolves and the other animals aboard the island without Sauron's noticing. They left them there and got back to the Mountains. Leaving the ship in the same bay. Knowing it would probably be found and destroyed one day or another...

Arielle, Eresan, Messúrie, Caltanar and Atavaryan made their way south to the last trading town where they found a great stock of their weapons. After gathering them and packing, they would try and make their way inland from there, passing by the mountains up to Saurondil. The first days went without too much trouble, the men they killed were dumped in the sea. With chance, they would be taken as deserters and not even thought of. It didn't take as long as they thought to reach the end of the mountains since they weren't guarded inside, but only on either sides... There, they changed clothes quickly to try and blend in the mass of people there. It was one of their specialty, as assassins and they made a pretty good job of it. Nevertheless, they would have to be really careful along the way. A few exciting days in perspective....

  6. The pack had steadily decreased during the years. Reducing it's size to a mere 23 wolves, and 5 Maiar. Although they had fought hard, the men of Saurondil still continued their flow to the South and East, what had been Senna and Tarimar. Gradually, the Black Wolves had been pushed further and further East until they had received a message from Flurmë. They had wanted to go to Eofenwendil then. But the Men of Sauron had already blocked the pass and pushed them back. They had to flee along the coast back deep into Tarimar, and the mountains there. All around them, what had once been green, flourishing and gleaming with life was now dead, a total wasteland. Arielle didn't like it at all. But she couldn't do nothing about it. At five, they could face Sauron if he was alone, but if he sent all those men after them, they couldn't handle all of them. Arielle had always disliked the Maia for his tactic of overwhelming force, it caused too much destruction for nothing. They would rule a ruined land with nothing on it. If they suceeded. Once they reached the clear of the mountains, well hidden between both chains of mountains, they saw fit to regain their human form. Creating clothes with their own magic as they did. Around a fire that night, they held a council, trying to figure out what to do next...

  7. Thus the Hunters felt obliged to remain concealed in their canine form, staying in the numerous forests of Arda. They joined Arielle's pack of wolves that had remained behind after the people of Tarimar had departed. Now at 40 strong, and Arielle and Eresan as the leaders, they roamed the land as any normal pack would do, tearing appart every creature which belonged or served Sauron if they encountered one. Living the rest of the time as wild animals until someone would finally ask for them. If not, they were just happy to be free and what they were, without any boundaries, any barrier that opposed them. Thus it remained until year 87 and the beginning of the war against Eonwe...

  8. It didn't bother her...nothing bothered her anymore...the other 4 were coming her way, they had heard her call. They would be gone this night. Away from both the free people and Morgoth. Those of Tarimar were safe, and she could withstand Morgoth's current power with the one she wielded on her own. As they neared the place where she had hidden the short sword, her eyes turned yellow as the wolf in her manifested and permitted her to see with clearer eyes in the dark. Curomo stopped in his tracks at the sight of her. He was clearly in great anger and didn't trust her at all. At the same time, she felt the intense beating of his heart.

Arielle : The sword is calling, won't you listen to it's call Curomo son of Poicóromo ?

Curumo : It is one of your tricks, I'll not fall for it. I know who you are ! I know what you want ! You want to kill me !

Arielle : Do you ? You know who I am, you know what I have done. But you can also feel that sword. Do you think I would work so hard to kill a meaningless elf like you ? To think of that, you are less than I thought you were.

Curumo : How can I trust you ?

Arielle : You cannot, but you can trust your feelings...what do they tell you ?

Curumo : I feel that blade, I've known it.

She looked into his eyes, they were so familiar to those of the father she could hardly bear them. As soon as he would find the blade he would gladly run her through, she knew that. Thus it was a necessity the others arrived. She could wait a bit more, the others were arriving at full speed, 4 black wolves running through the night without a sound. She had done well of hidding the sword on the border of the forest. The guards hidden in it could be dealt with quickly without causing them too much harm. She heard the howl of one of them and turned back toward the group following them. Dunumij, Faghofir, Turmë and Eofenwe, all had heard it, and Turmë had his bow raised.

[note : this part was written by Yiuel]

Dunumij was standing straight. He didn't close his eyes, but he didn't saw anything more. Fixing emptiness, he feeled the wind on his long ears. «Fujsuker. I can feel any movement of air. Those ears aren't as they are for nothing.» (...)

«Arielle, said Dunumij, you are not alone, aren't you. My ears don't trick me, I trained them to feel correctly. You have people with you. Maybe can I say a number.» Dunumij closed his eyes. «Four, hiding in the bushes further in the forest. I shall assume I know who they are.» (...)

«Silent they were, but my ears sense more than that. You can come out. They will not harm you, as long as you do not fool them. If Arielle's wish is to leave, they will let you leave. But, I shall ask you to stay on your side. You know who's the one side to Arielle.»

Eofenwe looked at Dunumij. All the Elves were suprised of the one called Dunumij. What was such power? Even the Sairoquendi were unable to feel those four people.

«Arielle, called Eofenwe, You may proceed.»

    [note : I continue]

Arielle didn't show any surprise at all, she knew those people had senses she did not have.

Arielle : There is nothing more to add. He knows where it is. And those four will not move from their spot. I told them not to.

Curomo approached and kneeled down. He digged a little, recoving a scabbard and a sword. With a careful hand, he drew out the sword and held it in one hand, pointing towards Arielle. She didn't move, didn't look at him either. And it angered him more. He wanted to avenge his father. With a quick thrust, he plundged at her. And missed. Arielle sidestepped quickly out of range and bowed to the elves.

Arielle : Order has been restored. We don't need to linger any longer. We are lone wolves...mercenaries I guess. I think it's what we do best. You may contact us for a kill, but otherwise, you should leave us alone. *to Curomo* You father was a great person, with great honor. I trust that I can find the same traits in the son and that this sword will have found a good bearer.

With these words, Arielle morphed into the form of a black wolf, her clothes falling on the grass. It shook itself and was joined by 4 others. They turned their back and ran into the bushes and the forest. Dissapearing from the eyes of the elves and their hearing. Only Dunumij seemed to follow their movement until even he, could not hear them anymore.

  9. Arielle looked at Curomo, with slightly wide eyes. Then she closed them, remembering the face of that elf, the last of the kills Morgoth had asked her to do. She opened them again. That elf, had indeed the same traits as Poicóromo, a son maybe. Her eyes darkened at the thought, she had left the blade of the father not far from the city walls. Well hidden of course, but it had pulsed with an energy she didn't knew it had. It frightened her more, because it was calling out to the rightful owner of the blade. But she also heard those words Dunumij had said, and it came out as a sort of peace. Her fate was sealed if she was with either party. Thus making her own choices would be a reasonable bargain for the time that was left for her to live. She would start it now...

Arielle rose up from her chair, the guards readied their weapons. She held her hands in the air, in a sign of peace.

Arielle - You *she pointed toward Curumo* come with me. The others should follow us though. If they don't want to die.

    The people stared at her.

Arielle - Do I have your leave Eofenwe ? I promise it won't be long. I have something which belongs to him.
