  1. Hey team- I'm looking for two things for upcoming 0 A.D. music! 1) People who can write some lyrics (a few nice phrases will do) in (or as-close-as-possible to) the ancient tongues used in 0 A.D., this will be used in upcoming tracks as choir text! 2) A french horn performer who either lives in proximity to my studio (Israel), or has the means to record high-quality audio. Spread the word Thanks!

  2. Hello Austin ! Welcome to the forum! I enjoy your motivation and totally agree on how much good sound contributes to immersion for a game. For me, 0AD already has a very good sound work, but I am curious what can be explored further, so glad to see your skills and tools available for the game. In filmmaking too, a great sound design can give terrific immersion and realism, though we might not realize it consciously in the first place.

  5. Something like Lyrics were written years ago... "As long as you live, shine, Let nothing grieve you beyond measure. For your life is short, and time will claim its toll." Look here for notes and lyrics in ancient greek http://www.hellinon.net/Seikilos.htm Panagiotis Papadakos

  6. Eluveitie did a lot of songs in ancient Gaulish. I think you can just re-use their lyrics, maybe just asking to Chrigel (singer and writer of the band). Example:

  7. Indian guy here talking in reference to this: http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/page.php?p=11974 Mauryas used to speak Prakrit (common language) and Sanskrit (official language). Prakrit is dead (or evolved into other languages) and Sanskrit is barely spoken by a handful (eg. my dad). Plenty can speak Hindi (modern official language of India) and Marathi (derivative of Prakrit) fluently (eg. me!). What do you expect, when it comes to lyrics about Indian parts of the game? Indian tracks would be awesome! ;-)

  8. To elaborate: For well-studied ancient languages like Greek and Latin we will try to make lyrics in the actual ancient language. For languages that have mostly been lost, such as Celtic and Punic, we will have to do with modern surviving languages that are related to the ancient ones. So if you speak Irish or Scottish Gaelic, for example, that could be very helpful for the Celtic lyrics. Thanks!

  10. Babylon gardens update. I'll start the process of AO baking and exporting. I think I'll have some problems with the flora AO due to the intersecting geometry. I think I'll bake the structure AO first and then with the flora and mix both with half opacity.

  11. Added more green to the building as suggested, looks great:

  12. Thanks for your feedback I encountered two problems regarding flora, one is that it wastes a lot of polys to cover a big portion of space (polycount is really high now). The other is that more flora means less space to "walk" through the garden "structure". I designed the building so you can follow a path and use the stairs to get to the top of the building, instead of covering all space visible with flora. Still WIP and there are some places where I want more amount of green, so I'll take your feedback and make it "greener" more screens

  13. Persian wonder, Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The size is the same as the big pyramid in atlas. It's a Work In Progress render with AO in Blender. (Hopefully it looks similar with baked AO in-game) The water is a placeholder until Myconid implement pretty water with reflections in buildings. Credits to Pureon, I modified some assets he made used on the structure. Hope you like it

  14. I'm not proposing we use this as the Carthaginian wonder, but it is a 'special building' so thought I'd post about it here too (not just on the staff forums): The Mausoleum of Prince Ateban (2nd Century BC) I modeled it after seeing some nice high res photos on wikimedia. It's built to the real proportions, although may or may not be to scale in-game, with a small amount of artistic license added mostly to the textures. Interesting read: http://www.historum....s-carthage.html
