Paal_101
I cannot wait until I see my first A380! Seeing the A340 for the first time was fun beyond belief, but this is obviously a whole new league

Curufinwe
(well, everyday, from school/work I can seen A340-500 and A340-600 (the longest commercial plane in the world ... even longer than the A380) and it si quite impressive ... the impressive one is the A300-600ST also known as "Beluga". It is the plane that carries parts of the A340 from all over Europe to Toulouse. I saw the first flight of the A340-600 ... it needed the whole runway to take off ... so I can imagine how long the runway has to be for an A380
rohirwine
I flew an A340 few weeks ago (from South Africa). Not much impressive (economic class, tail section, you know... ), but much better than the B747 wich i flew two years ago. (actually i flew two versions of it, the smaller one and the largest one: both had microscopic seats)....
Curufinwe
(well, planes are rarely impressive from the inside ... it is just when you are outside, on the side of the runway and you can see several thousand tons taking off the ground ... Curufinwe
(I am sorry to have this old thread back, 3 months after, but today was the maiden flight of the A380 ... I was there ... I will post some of my photos on this thread later on, but for the moment, you can enjoy there:http://www.aeroweb-fr.net/photos-airbus-a3...380-2704-n1.jpghttp://www.aeroweb-fr.net/photos-airbus-a3...380-2704-n2.jpghttp://www.aeroweb-fr.net/photos-airbus-a3...380-2704-n3.jpghttp://www.aeroweb-fr.net/photos-airbus-a3...380-2704-n6.jpgit was so big ... so slow when it took off ... it seems it was so light ... well, it was a great experience ... and I am so proud the first flight was performed in my home region
Lorian
Yeah, saw it on the news, wish I could have been there... anyway, nice photos!
Black Op
Even in the States they were talking about this great flight on the news! And it's cool David you managed to witness an event of significance. Me, I only see places of significance.
Fire Giant
Yes, it was a great day. I was at school when the flight took place but checked the internet in my breaks to be "up to date" - after all, the A380 is going to be worked on in Hamburg, too, and much depended on the success of that flight. Now the Europeans can officially claim to have built the "king of sky" airplane (and they are not likely to be surpassed on that any time soon It's a great example of what international co-work can do (especially for Europe, where - incomprehensibly to me - a lot of people are still against the EU integration and things like the European constitution). Curufinwe
(Well, Malte ... I am very very much in favor of the EU and European integration, but I am not really in favor of the European Constitution ... in France, we are going to have a referendum on May 29th and I am in the process of reading it ... there are some articles that suit me, but others are really not my poin of view ... so, when I have read it through, I will weigh the pros and the cons The Constitutional Treaty is not about the EU ... it is a vision of Europe with which I share some views, but with which I do not share others ...
