Stan`
Would they be interested in contributing as well ?
Mah-Dry-Bread
My composer friends? They don't really do online stuff. They do voice acting for some Flash Games and sometimes soundtracks for indy games, but they don't do YouTuber stuff. If you're looking for voice acting or more music I could put you guys in contact with them, but if we're just talking about video stuff, they don't do that. sanderd17
We'd need some voice actors for different unit voices, but I don't know if they're comfortable with other/ancient languages. And we'd probably need input of some historians first too.
Stan`
Well I don't know for sure, but I think we are still looking for voice actors for unit sounds Edited May 12, 2016 by stanislas69
Mah-Dry-Bread
Mandi is a voice actress and she is fluent in German. I don't know how comfortable she is with the older forms of the languages, but knowing her she is always up to trying new things. Want me to direct her to this thread? Also I'm more than happy to do voice acting if you want me too, but I literally only speak modern English so I'd need a ton of direction, so I'm not sure if I'm what you're looking for. My fiancée is fluent in Arabic and French if that helps. Edited May 12, 2016 by Mah-Dry-Bread
sanderd17
See http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Audio_Voice_List We currently have Greek and Latin, but both could be improved. Both in pronunciation and recording quality. For Persian, we have some sentences, but no records yet. And yes, you can certainly direct her to our forums (anywhere is good). Edit: there are also quite some other threads on the forums about voices.
Mah-Dry-Bread
SerugiuHellDragoonHQ emailed back, he just said: " Regarding your private message you sent me via YouTube. I don't know why they sent you to me. I am playing 0 A.D. from time to time but I have no Official link with them. " I get the feeling that means "I'm not interested" considering I never asked for him to have any official link to you guys, but I'll try and clarify it with him anyway.
Mah-Dry-Bread
Hey everyone, just as an update, I've been having awful internet issues recently and I've been troubleshooting them with Rogers, my ISP. Seems like the cables in the area may have gotten messed up after some high winds. It's delaying my job a bit since I can't stream like this. I still keep this window open every day to make sure I'm easy to context if you have any questions or want to throw ideas at me.
Lion.Kanzen
Sergiu isn't great player at all, is very average. Good youtuber but not as player.
Mah-Dry-Bread
That's common on YouTube, that the players will be average. It's usually because they play so many different games on the show that they don't have time to really get good at specific ones. I think what matters most is that they stay consistent. If the channel is based around high quality gameplay, they should take time to focus on a game and become better at it, and if the show is mostly about the personalities or showing off new games, being average at the games is just fine. What matters most is that people find new games through their channels.
sanderd17
@Mah-Dry-Bread, what are your plans now? Even just recording some general play-through videos on your channel would be great imo (just don't pick too many players or a high population cap, so you don't get stuck with the lag). Mah-Dry-Bread
I might do that soon just so that I get something on the channel 0 A.D. related. The sooner I start attracting people who are interested in 0 A.D. to the channel, the sooner I'll have people around that would want to participate in 0 A.D. related things. It's a shame that I'm having technical issues connecting to the Hitbox servers at the moment, because I bet streaming live matches with fans would be a big hit. My viewers always have a ton of fun when they get to play games with me on the live stream.
Mah-Dry-Bread
Alright, it's been about a month and I've had two heatwaves and a throat infection. That was pretty awful. Now that I'm back to 100% though, I think I'm finally ready to start on some 0 A.D. stuff in the coming week. After thinking about it for a while, I'm thinking that perhaps I'll use monday's Vlog to set up a day where I'll stream the game and anyone is invited to play it with me. Since the game is free I'm sure we'll get quite a few people who want to play. I think that would be a good way to garner some interest in the game from the people already on my channel to start.
Mah-Dry-Bread
Here is my vlog where I talked about 0 AD a bit, thought you might be interested. I've had a few viewers tell me they've since tried and enjoyed the game and they're looking forward to my stream of it! Sorry about the lower than usual microphone quality in that video. It was the middle of a heatwave so I had to have the A/C full blast and that caused the white noise removal to mess with the "S" noises of my voice a bit. Also I had some mild heatstroke.
sphyrth
So far, the best games I've watched come from GamingBrotherhoodGR. They don't make good Beginner Tutorials though. The only real beginner stage tutorial I know of is about teaching players how to play "Farmville" in Phase I.
sanderd17
@Mah-Dry-Bread, thanks a lot for mentioning it on your channel. Looking forward to seeing your streams. Btw, most devs usually gather on IRC ( https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.quakenet.org#0ad-dev ), we don't play that often (as devs tend to have a broken version of the game most of the time), but if you give a shout there, I guess some of us could follow the stream and join your chat if we have time.
