How do I add mods to 0ad alpha 18 on Linux?

Sorry I bet this question has been asked quite a bit but seeing as the method changed after alpha 16 (I think) it would be nice to get some clarification here. I have searched up 0ad in my home folder and it comes up with 3 folders. Inside each one is a folder for mods. I have tried putting the mods into these folders and extracting them but nothing shows up when I start 0ad and enter the mods page.

Btw: am running Ubuntu, latest version if that helps.

It should be in the same folder as public.zip ...

Not possible if the game was fully installed on a Linux system only the super-user would have access to the data folder. I use the svn version running in userland(/home) and put symbolic links in all the locations mentioned so far  and I do see ROTE in the Mod config page and it runs fine so it may be just a matter of finding the correct location for it.

Enjoy the Choice :)

the last is at home/local/share/0ad

Is there a local but not a .local directory? I think that should be ~/.local/share/0ad/, unless it's different on your Ubuntu for some reason. That is the correct place to put your mods, don't put them in cache or config (nothing good will happen if you do).
