lucho
What? Another map? Ok, Ok, I won't spam the forums with my creations. But this one came out pretty good and I wanted to show off what I've learned with Atlas. The idea is a bit whimsical, and not at all realistic. Rome and her opponents take their fight deep into Africa. Plenty of resources and space to build and grow. Have fun!valley_do_vale.pmp.zip
Lion.Kanzen
You must use svn and do it new skirmish maps. Is the newest feature for the game.Skirmish map is a map like a scenario but with rms features like random civ, max population settings.
lucho
I'm running 0AD 13-1 on Ubuntu 13.04; do I need git, or just subversion? What is the procedure for upgrading to SVN version?
Loki1950
There is a wiki page on how to get the full svn version http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/BuildInstructions#Linux you will need to build your own binary the instructions for that are on the wiki page in the link.Enjoy the Choice Edited October 17, 2013 by Loki1950
Lion.Kanzen
Year, can be cool have a lot of skirmish maps.
Ludo38
@lucho : Thanks for the map! I like it. I enjoy a lot how much you stressed the relief, having these cliffs and depths. To my opinion, two factions instead of 4 would be better on a map of that size, but my opinion isn't best because I play very rarely and I'm the kind who love quiet game, few battles, a lot of time to enjoy the landscape and build the town peacefully Keep the good work lucho, you seem like a good map-maker!
Lion.Kanzen
I give a try today or yesterday and i will do some recommendations, for me the best maps are, the creatives, hidden surprises, resources, balanced. AOM have more of best scenarios and in some pages they says how make creative maps. But I promise play your maps. Por cierto Hablas español? Lion.Kanzen
I test it today, you need give more resources, specially minerals and wood near to Civic Center.Wood are essential at the start. Put some obstacles between civilization, be carefully with unreachable resources like wood., give some treasures and eye candy in some areas. Example Acropolis scenario. lucho
Por cierto Hablas español?Claro! Me gusta hablar Castellano, pero tengo pocas oportunidades (vivo em Brasil, así que tengo que usar mas Portugués).About the map: I tried to put the resources just far enugh from each civilization to accelerate the conflict (heh...). I wanted to avoid a glut of resources. I guess this means I'm discriminating against turtle strategies? Thanks to everyone for the feedback! Real life doesn't give me the free time I'd like, but I'm going to keep at it ( el laburo no para, la lucha tampoco )
Lion.Kanzen
The Ai easily try to runs out all resources, for a multiplayer is good. The match can end in seconds. May be I can test more but human player can be hard, the Ai knows where are the sources.
My own playtesting so far has been similar: you have to really hustle to get the resources before the AI. It took me a few games before I could beat the AI. I didn't want it to be easy, but this map isn't for the faint of heart...
Lion.Kanzen
The point is...now we have skirmish mode now, that maps can be great . Why? Because aren't enough skirmish maps and are easy to do. Only needs a good terrains.
lucho
ugh... real life won't give me a break, but don't lose hope: I'll install SVN as soon as I get a chance. I really want to try out the skirmish mode
Lion.Kanzen
Yeah is easy, only makes the geography,, you can use a real life map with a jpg to export height to the maps. Or try with a random template and put "skirmish units and structures"
