BrynnOfCastlegate
Hi! I put together some concepts for 0 A.D. CD art, which I posted in the topic about someone selling discs on Ebay. It was suggested that I post it here, too. These are half resolution previews. Let me know what you think!--Brynn
fabio
Very professional!Maybe, since you add notes about CC-BY-SA, you should also tell that it's licensed under both GPL and CC-BY-SA.
myconid
I like #3 the best.Round disc, round 0ad logo. Wonder if there's something creative you could do with that...
Asterixfan
I like number 1 and 3. One showing a battle or ships might also look good.
Mythos_Ruler
Round disc, round 0ad logo. Wonder if there's something creative you could do with that...My thoughts as well. I could see the 0 taking up the whole thing or something.
plumo
Original AOE ftw ! http://www.gamegiresun.cc.cc/img/product/2010/201006/20100625/326858_0_Age_Of_Empires_2_Gold_Edition_.jpg
BrynnOfCastlegate
I'm glad you like them! I agree, the last one is the best. Hmmm...I will have to try something with the roundness of the logo.--Brynn
Yves
I think the last one looks best. Does anyone know where the hoplite is available in higher resolution?EDIT: Found it - http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15477entry232155however the source file (psd or whatever) would be even better. BrynnOfCastlegate
Here is one I did with the large "0". Tell me what you think!--Brynn
Jeru
Great work!I would change the screenshots, though. I think a cityscape and a battlefield are better to represent what the game is about
Enrique
Wow! nice design!I agree with Jeru, and maybe making the outer ring a little skinnier will give you more space for the images.Nice work
myconid
I like it! I agree with Enrique, make the outer ring skinnier and the images bigger. Also, maybe we shouldn't use screenshots on the label, as that says "bootleg" to me. How about two angry warrior heads, one on the left and one on the right, facing each other (like a staredown, this sort of situation). Don't know if there's any existing concept art that you could use.If you want, you could also try other round shapes that fit the shape of a CD. e.g. shields, coins.Better yet, use elements of decoration from ancient greek vases. Now, there's something interesting that I've never seen done before...
Thorfinn the Shallow Minded
Very good job. I recommend that you use a different screenshot for the picture to the right however.
Jeru
Perhaps a high-quality 3d render of one of the buildings would be better than a screenshot.

zoot
Better yet, use elements of decoration from ancient greek vases. Now, there's something interesting that I've never seen done before...Very classy, IMO, especially if it would be light on text.No reason we can't have several designs, of course. The 'staredown' was used on the boxes of the original Warcraft, though, so it might seem a bit cliché to RTS fanatics:

mk12
I made this DVD cover for 0 A.D. a while ago. I mentioned in in my first post on the forums. Unfortunately, my school didn't see the need to mention to anyone that all your data gets deleted over the summer, so the PSD file is gone forever. I spent a lot of time on this, though. BrynnOfCastlegate
That is a pretty nice cover!I combined the "0" CD with the unit art CD. Let me know what you think! Would it look better with two images on opposite sides, or is one large image better?--Brynn
quantumstate
I like the design. One thing that I think could be changed is that when you make the cross/ring so large it si very obvious how sharp the edges are. This contrasts with the rough texture, I think it would be better to have a rougher edge. Perhaps if there is a 3d model available a normal/displacement map could be produced and it could be rendered very nicely.
Potter
I like the concept of having 4 quadrants with info. It matches with the 0 ad logo and neatly organizes things...

Mythos_Ruler
Should probably fade the edge of the red in the bottom quadrant. Other than that, looks pretty cool.
