ac892006
I know this Idea is a bit premature but with the rise of touch computing maybe some us should start to think how to port 0 AD to tablets and phones . IMAGINE :- playing 0ad on Iphone 4S with siri as your intelligent battle adviser and voice controls to control the game along with touch based controls as well . tinoesroho
Personally, the mobile devices don't have enough computing power. Maybe a Vita port would be more practical.
asmartgoat
It would require a complete rewrite of the game engine for each of these devices since they are both java based.
hhyloc
I don't think a RTS game like 0 A.D. will fit into those small screens, not to mention how frustrating the control will be without a proper mouse and keyboard. Android's NDK supports C++ too.The main effort would probably be in porting all our rendering code to OpenGL ES, and then dealing with CPU-specific features, and then worrying about how to get adequate performance at least on high-end devices, and then worrying about how to make a sane input system and UI. asmartgoat
Ah, I'm wrong on that. But AFAIK, .apks are only java?. But you *Can* install stuff like busybox etc. But its not the norm.Anyway, i've only done a little in java, so i'm no expert.
