Alpha of the Eagles
Great work Mythos! Will these be like the towers in AoK (auto attack + extra attack if you garrison) or will they be a little more realistic in the way that you have to garrison archers or javelineers/slingers if you want missile fire, and infantry will only prevent enemy troops from capturing the tower by standing in the door? And the towers will be capturable!? (<- I don't think that's a word) Awesome!Alpha, im smelling settlers 3 features in your comment!I'm a 'devoted' Settlers 3 fan, and still play it on a regular basis with my friends. Shield Bearer
will do. Yeah its not a word...but it should be!I know! AWESOME!!!All buildings are gonna be 'capturable', the only way to destroy a building is to use siege units.
plumo
I wouldnt make it settlers 3 style. I hope it will be possible to build towers onto wall corners for aesthetic effect, this may sound strange, but people might like, and it saves building space in your fortified town centre. Mythos_Ruler
Walls will have garrisonable towers that appear when you build the wall.

These can apparently still be garrisoned in the Settlers 3 way (which is somewhat realistic, actually).
Mythos_Ruler
Scout Towers are "Outposts" in that they are towers not connected to Walls. They give somewhat of a LOS to the surrounding countryside, but when u garrison soldiers inside you get a big LOS boost and an a large attack. Pureon
Wow very nice tower guys! Even more impressed to hear it was created in Blender - great to see how popular it's become. @Mythos_Ruler: Did you UV map the model in Blender and texture it from there? I created a couple of texture sheets (one for "fancy" buildings, one for "non-fancy" buildings, and one with miscellaneous textures). All the Greek buildings are (or will be) mapped to those 3 textures. Edited September 2, 2010 by Mythos_Ruler
Pureon
Interesting way of doing it, skinning multiple buildings with the same texture(s) - I haven't seen that done in many RTSs recently. Are you transfering the models into Max for UVmapping?
Mythos_Ruler
Shield_Bearer modeled and UV mapped it, then exported to Collada (.DAE). I was then able to import into Max, resize to the correct size, export back to collada and into the game to make the actors and entities. AuroN2
Looks alot like the greek tower in aom, but then again, you cant really find much else artwork to base it off can you?
plumo
A comparison with AOM is not something to be ashamed of, IMO.
