"Join Game" in Multiplayer

Hello, 

When I click "Join Game" in Multiplayer, I get this message: 

Failed to connect to the server. 

This is often caused by UDP port 20595 not being forwarded on the host side. 

By a firewall or antivirus software. 

 

I have Windows Defender as my antivirus. 

For the firewall, it's the Windows firewall.

Also, Alpha 27.1 will include a patch fixing the automatic creation of port forwardings via UPnP, which should resolve the issue for some players entirely (to be precise, for those with UPnP enabled on their router).

I checked my router, and I do have UPnP port 20595 open. 

So, I don't understand why it's not working ?

What language(s) do you speak?

So, that's the router. How about the firewall? And the antivir? I had to set exceptions for 0ad there.

Tu dois pouvoir cocher pour reseau public aussi au cas ou ton reseau soit mal configuré.

Sinon tu peux aussi checker les logs du jeu pour voir si l'upnp fonctionne. Sinon il faudra un port vers une ip statique.

The firewall is OK (Public). 

The logs are OK.

Du coup c'est les hôtes qui sont mal configurés. Ou toi qui a un CGNat genre Free qui partage ton IP avec 4 personnes.

 

Normalement cependant avec ton setup tu devrais pouvoir host au moins.

Okay. Pour faire simple, le message n'est pas lié à toi c'est les autres qui n'ont pas configuré les choses correctement de leur coté.

Tout le setup que tu viens de faire c'est pour que les gens puissent join tes parties. Tu ne peux rien faire de plus pour pouvoir rejoindre les leurs.

It's not about you personally but how your ISP set up the network; carrier-grade NAT (CGN/CGNAT) for example has shared IPs.

Have you tried to join all games in the lobby? Surely some hosts are possible to join. Come at 20:00 CET where there will be many hosts

One good solution is to use ExpressVPN. They give you an endpoint and bypass all isp restrictions

I can host a new game or a saved game. 

However, I haven't created an account in the "Multiplayer Lobby."

But to join a game, impossible.

You must first create an account in the multiplayer lobby, then try to join games in there. Press on the multiplayer lobby button.

That "join game" button you are pressing is for entering LAN games. But I assume no one is hosting on your LAN so you cannot join anything. It's not a firewall issue, it's just you are clicking on the wrong button.

 

Even if you want to play with another person in the same house,  you can still host via the lobby which is much easier.

 

I was confused by this as well.

Peut être qu'on ne s'est pas compris mais si tu n'utilises pas le lobby, comment essaie tu de te connecter à d'autres joueurs? Avec leur IP publique ?

 

 

@Seleucids technically though they are the same you can join a WAN (Like LAN but over the internet) game using the join button, assuming the person you are joining gave you their router's public ip address and setup the ports correctly. You don't need the lobby to play with people. It's extra steps though. You can also play fake LAN with Hamachi.
