MrEmjeR
yeah could it be made that if a wall exist from two thin wall that are unthrough-walkeble and if there is a character between it, the height of the char would be increased and where are ladders one of the thin walls would be open so the char could enter the wall. NOXAS1
yeah but if that is a bit hard what about this remember in aok and tc the cliffs? well what if you could make them like that but with stone instead?
Hurin
I love the idea of having walls that units can walk on, it makes sieges much more fun
MrBlack103
Especially when catapults are firing on the archers. It looks really cool.
MrEmjeR
that from AoK is only possible with 2D Isometric games not with 3D games. they used this trick: they se a square from 2 by 2 where people can't walk and then they set a pic of a cliff on it and that it looks like people stay higher as they stay after the cliff.but if u do this in a 3D game it just looks like a normal wall where u cant walk on with stronghold 2 it's possible to walk on the walls. MrBlack103
Sigh... Why won't this game have siege towers? They were actually used a lot by the more powerful civs from this era.
julius1
WHAT!!!?? how come there wont be siege towers!!??

Silver
WHAT!!!?? how come there wont be siege towers!!??My guess would be because they can't be on the walls? It could be made different from real siege towers by allowing siege towers to help troops cross over to the other side of a wall. MrBlack103
WHO SAYS THERE WON'T BE SIEGE TOWERS?!?!?!The FAQ.
MattSherman
The FAQ.The FAQ states that siege ladders wont be used. It does not specify about siege towers, if I am not mistaken.
Justinian
But if you can't walk on walls whats the point of having something which would be in essence a battering ram.
WhiteTreePaladin
I think someone on Aok heaven once mentioned that someone from Ensemble Studios said (not exactly directly from the source but anyway...) that they tried siege towers in Aok but found that they made the player build rings of walls. I, however, think that they could still work even if units can't walk on walls. As for a difference from rams, rams should take awhile to tear down a wall and all types of units can go through afterward; a siege tower takes you right over, but only allows infantry... Not exactly the same thing.
MrEmjeR
bur what about my plan upside?it has to be possible to walk on the walls!

Apomonomenos
This sounds like Strongholds Legends, were you are able to put soldiers, traps and siege on the walls, but only on specific spots (excluding soldiers)(Traps can only be placed on walls, and siege on a specific tower that is expensive)
MrEmjeR
yeah rightthat's what i said cuz in stronghold 2 its the same
Apomonomenos
really? because I only had 1 stronghold and that was stronghold legends, but I didn't no people called it stronghold
MattSherman
really? because I only had 1 stronghold and that was stronghold legends, but I didn't no people called it stronghold 2 Stronghold legends is the third installment of the game. There is stronghold Crusader, stronghold 2, and legends.
Justinian
Stronghold 1 and Crusader are running on the same engine with a few graphical enhancements.Stronghold 2 upgrades and is slammed for being incomplete.Stronghold Legends is basically S2 with a couple more additions. People didn't buy this one so much due to S2.Back on topic. Would it be possible to make walls Garrison-able and have their garrisoned anim as archers on the wall. MrEmjeR
I think thats not such a good idea.a wall exist from more then one object and then the people can't walk arround if they are in one object.and the wall does'n know to wich side he has to dump the released people. Apomonomenos
I'm sure that it will be possible in game.
Cassador_Chris
stronghold crusader was a fun game. First game I played where Horse Archers could really pull of what they were meant to do, and first game where besieging a castle was actually realistic and fun. Actually, it was the first game where you could actually BESIEGE a castle at all.Yeah, though, walking on walls. Always wanted that in AOEI, II, III...Not a help any that walls will be obsolete by AOEIV...
Justinian
Once again, shame about SH2... and for that matter SH:LWhich reminds me. Celts in AOE1... wtf?and what makes you think AoE IV won't be AoE 1 v2 Edited July 14, 2008 by Scipii_Alemanus
