Who can explain since when were the elite units taken from the fortress? This is so terribly unusual and uncomfortable. And how to prevent units from making formations, as they start to get stuck in narrow passages? I played on the Ambush map - it's just a logistical nightmare.

They were removed as part of the Alpha 24 Release.

To prevent units making formations you can set the default formation by right clicking on it.

It's definitely better than wandering the paths and clinging to every tree.

The topic was discussed on the Delanda Est overhaul mod: 

 

If this feature is implemented in a good way into the mod, then it might have a good chance to get merged into the main game. Personal suggestion: Drag the mouse to move in formation, click the mouse to move without formation.

I would like to have defensive anti-siege units in the fortress. apart from the elites.
