Catapult Animations next release?
Pureon replied to General Octavian's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Maybe I'll work on animating them for Alpha 9. More importantly, I'd really like to see them unpack and pack (like the trebuchet in AOE2). All the models needed are in place, so all we need is one of the developers to work out how to do it! -

Ancient Greek translations for voice recordings
Pureon replied to Pureon's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Brilliant, thanks for the quick response. I didn't write the voice list myself, but I'm assuming it's the unit being clicked/ordered that is talking. So it would be in future tense: "I will attack" "I will dig" "I will farm" "I will march" I should have mentioned that the voice list uses the ancient Attic dialect. I'd assume we are aiming for the correct Ancient Greek pronunciation - could someone on the team please confirm -
I've never tried it, so it's worth a look. Lots of similarities with 0 A.D. - such as animated rallypoint flags

Thanks. Downloading now

I'd like to contact Erutuon to ask him to review the Ancient Greek voice list, but he doesn't have PM activated -
qBot (yet another AI)
Pureon replied to quantumstate's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Bug report: On Arcadia II set qBot as Player 1 (Hellenes), and yourself as Player 2 (Celts) - qBot does nothing, the starting units just stand in their starting positions. When I move an attack force into their territory, they garrison in the CC and only then begin working/building when they ungarrison. I've tried it 4 times, each time with the same result. -
qBot (yet another AI)

When completed, your plans for building placement within the main base will also help garrisoning be much more effective - towers and fortresses will be at the front defending the civilian buildings at the back. -
Voice-Actor Application - Miles B. Huff (Sweyn78)
Pureon replied to Sweyn78's topic in Applications and Contributions
We'll probably ask you to start work on the Greek voice list as that's already partly implemented into the game. I've posted the list here in the hope that our Ancient Greek translations can be verified by the online community. Have a think about those for now (and if required look into Ancient Greek pronunciation) -
We would like the community's help in reviewing our translations below. If you have a strong understanding of Ancient Greek could you please go through the list and offer any suggestions or additions you think we should make. English = 'Ancient Greek' Yes? = 'Ti estì?' My Lord? = 'Dèspotes mu' How may I serve you? = 'Pos dynamai therapèuein' As you wish = 'os epithymèis' I am coming = 'trècho' On my way = ' ' Attack! = 'eisbàlomen' For my family! = 'pro ten patrìda mu' Build = 'tèucho' Farm = 'Georgèo' Mine or Dig = 'skàpto' Chop = 'kòpto' Gather = 'syllègo' Herd = 'nèmo' Fish = 'ìchthys' Repair = 'siachno' Hunt = 'kynegetèo' Your Orders? = 'pos kelèueis?' I've noticed this too. Unfortunately qBot performed much better without garrisoning -
Audio Design 5 - Voice List

Thanks fcxSanya, that'll work for now Do we want any other voice sounds that aren't on the list? Unless someone can think of a better way, I'm going to post this on the forum: English = Ancient Greek Yes? = 'Ti estì?' My Lord? = 'Dèspotes mu' How may I serve you? = 'Pos dynamai therapèuein' As you wish = 'os epithymèis' Im coming = 'trècho' On my way = ' ' Attack! = 'eisbàlomen' For my family! = 'pro ten patrìda mu' Build = 'tèucho' Farm = 'Georgèo' Mine or Dig = 'skàpto' Chop = 'kòpto' Gather = 'syllègo' Herd = 'nèmo' Fish = 'ìchthys' Repair = 'siachno' Hunt = 'kynegetèo' Your Orders? = 'pos kelèueis?' Welcome to the forums MagusOfMirrors Take a look at the Introduction to 0 A.D. programming if you haven't done so already. What do you think of 0AD, have you played many games? Are there any changes or additions you would like to make to it? It's usually best to work on something that inspires you

qBot (yet another AI)
Pureon replied to quantumstate's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Thanks for the summary Some possible additions: Place foundations in safe areas - It shouldn't place new foundations where the enemy has already destroyed multiple building attempts. Long range siege defense - It should be able to defend itself better against rock throwers. qBot is already doing really well - It's much less predictable and does expand throughout the map -

Regarding Sweyn78's application - should he first work on enhancing our Ancient Greek voices, rather than creating new Roman voices? -
Voice-Actor Application - Miles B. Huff (Sweyn78)
Pureon replied to Sweyn78's topic in Applications and Contributions
Sounding a lot better buddy My Lord.wav - This recording has a sound click near the beginning, when you say the letter 'D'. Audacity's effects like 'Click Removal' may help, but I suggest you re-record it. Carthage Must Be Destoyed.wav - Sounds good. You may want to say it with more emotion to emphasis it's a strong call to action. Your new microphone has definitely helped remove the sound errors I noted a few weeks ago. Very impressive -
I honestly think we are pushing each civ's individuality now. Mythos is putting a lot of effort into making the civs unique, and once technologies are added, the unique characteristics will be heightened. By removing the 3 Carthaginian embassies we'd be removing uniqueness, I'd like them to stay personally.

We need to focus on more important things first, like finishing 0 A.D. More info on Rise of the East
