  1. The Persians have two champion cavalry archers:the Babylonian Scythed Chariot and the Bactrian Heavy Cavalry Archer. As far as I can tell from the structure tree, they have the exact same stats. Why do the Persians have (from a gameplay perspective) the same unit twice? Is there a reason for that or am I missing something obvious?
  2. I want to test if everything works, but I can't get the mod to show up in the mod selection menu. It requires A27, right? I tried it on the release candidate, but it didn't work. Here is what I did: I downloaded the main folder and put it into the mods folder. Inside this folder there is the mod.json and the "simulation" folder which leads to all the xml files. What am I doing wrong?
  3. Pull request #17 is opened: rearranged some paragraphs, small corrections and additions
  4. If I had to guess I would say they're Midjourney images. Am I right?
  5. Pull request #16 is opened now: ships for all Hellenistic civs (we can reuse parts of the texts for other civs as well): https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/16 I used mixins, I hope I did it correctly
  6. Thanks for your help! I will use mixins instead of creating new templates. One last question: for penteconters other than the Athenian, the parent should be just "penteconter|template_unit_ship_warship_light", right?
  7. Currently the Athenian penteconter has the Entity parent template_unit_ship_warship_light. My idea was to create a template for penteconters, paste the descripion I wrote in there and use this file as a parent for all penteconter files. So if this new file is called template_unit_ship_warship_greek_penteconter.xml, according to my understanding the line in all penteconter files should be <Entity parent="civ/athen|template_unit_ship_warship_greek_penteconter"> (and my question was whether or not to keep the civ/athen part). And the newly created template file will have the template_unit_ship_warship_light set as parent (the same as all the single files had originally). Doesnt this work? Can I kind of insert the new template file between the template_unit_ship_warship_light and all the penteconter files like this?
  8. Ah, thanks, okay. So, if I create a template file called "template_unit_ship_warship_greek_penteconter.xml", I have to set the Entity parent to <Entity parent="civ/athen|template_unit_ship_warship_greek_penteconter">. Is that right?
  9. The Athenian penteconter file (called ship_bireme.xml, even though it's not a bireme) has the entity parent "civ/athen|template_unit_ship_warship_light". Where do I find this file? Is it the usual template_unit_ship_warship_light in the templates folder that other ships use? Then what does the "civ/athen|" mean? The Spartan penteconter (also bireme.xml) for example does not have "civ|spart" before the template file name. Can I just ignore the "civ/athen|" part? I hope you understand what I mean.
  10. I just opened a pull request for Greek healers: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/15
  11. Interesting... I've tried wardog rushes in the past, but never really succeeded. For this approach, against a human player, you would probably have to micromanage the dog attacks more, as human players would not send single units to attack the dogs.
  12. I think mercenary champions are a great idea. In my opinion, it's a bit boring that all champions have the exact same damage, resistance, and price. I think it would add variety to, for example, increase one champion unit's damage and decrease its resistance. Maybe decrease another unit's price at the cost of making it less powerful. Or (like with mercenary champions) just change the price to make one unit cost only metal, or no metal and more food and wood. This would allow for more strategies and build orders. But that's just my opinion. What do you think?
  13. I agree, I think there is a theater in Sparta, but it was built at a time as Sparta was already part of the Roman Empire. The Spartans should not have a theater in the game.
  14. I think he's talking about adding one new template berries file, putting the description into it and using it as EntityParent for all the different berry files. Or am I wrong and it doesn't work like this?
  15. I'm sure there are people on this forum who will find this very interesting. No foreknowledge is needed to understand the texts. Anybody reading and giving feedback would be much appreciated.
  16. i managed to install the mod without crashes, but everytime i play with AI, i get lots of errors. (the same error again and again) Here is my log file.interestinglog.html
  17. I personally like to have the crossbow champions trained at the siege workshop. It's very unique. Their crossbow is just a smaller version of the bolt shooter, so it definitely makes sense. And it doesn't make a big difference when it comes to gameplay.
  18. The Macedonians had far more advanced siege engines and used them way more than most other civilizations. I suggest to give the Macedonians one expensive late game research tech (additionally to the ones all civs have) to increase their siege engines damage. Also, in reality the Helepolis (Macedonian siege tower) could fit hundreds maybe thousands of people inside. I suggest to increase production time, garrison limit and damage.
  19. Everytime I open the .pyromod file with 0ad, it crashes and does not correctly install the mod. Any ideas why?
  20. I guess it could do that, but it has no memory and can't directly search or remember quotes in ancient texts. It would just google it which you can also do yourself.
  21. @ChronA I would love to hear your thoughts on Chatgpt plugins. From what I've seen they are not as useful as they seemed when they were inteoduced, but I don't have Chatgpt plus and you seem like a person who has tried them out. Cheers! (just kidding)
  22. Really? No way, I was about to ask wether Gpt 4 wrote that second response. It seemed very suspicious to me. But the first one ... I didn't notice anything. Haha, I like that
