In development sounds better tbh. But we really need a sort of large area of the site to clearly say that it isn't done and won't be for a while, maybe linking to a thread with details. Like where that 'Latest Articles' box is.
Edit: I just another idea. What about a small banner that hovers above the page in the top right/left corner? It could be like the 'Key Features' banner and say something like 'Pre-Alpha Stage' or even with a hypothetical percentage of completion: even though that's really hard to gauge at this point, as we'd have to index pretty much everything, determine size and importance.. blah blah blah, it would better give the impression that we're not done. Whatever is going to catch people's eye so they notice immediately that it can't be downloaded yet.

Lol, yeah, but you know what I mean. We need to make it obvious for people.

WFG Staff must be just thrilled to answer those several questions (BETA?! Release date?!) every few or so days / weeks, when a new forumer registers.
We really need to put that information somewhere. Not under the title 'FAQ', but more along the lines of 'Looking for the beta? Click here!'. Hopefully that will soak up half of the new guys.

Lol. I'm thinking of just killing my current XP, saving all my programs and starting a BootCamp partition instead.
-
Well, I couldn't atm. My Windows emulator only supports up to DirectX 8.3.

I mean that we haven't specifically featured a Roman unit like we have with the Spartans and others.
No, we're actually far from finishing all the art. We're even far from fine tuning gameplay. The engine itself is in pre-alpha phases, meaning that the actual engine is going through bug testing, not the game. We've still got a lot of art, a lot of programming and a lot more bug testing to do before we can even think about a beta release, which we plan to be extended.
-
I don't even think we've showcased any Roman units yet.. sounds like a good idea though.
The problem being that we're working on art for them at the moment, particularly waiting for modelers.

Actually about any 3D forum I know also has a 2D section, which basically is the same as texturing since it uses the same techniques etc. Some even have a special forum for texturing. Not that I don't like your initiative, though.
Yes, but texture art isn't always associated with 3D. For example, you need texture artists for making a 2D game. Also, these sections are never very extensive, and are often flooded with requests related to normal mapping in 3D software etc.
As for the style problems, I'm working on figuring them out, but they came with the original style. The only thing I really did was change all the colors and some of the images. I plan to do more, but that's what's been done atm. You can visit the original style demo here to see that most of the problems were not originally my doing.
I've got the PSD for that very reason. The name is sorta in limbo right now until we find one that fits.
I'll change it now if you like.

LMAO! Glen & Gary.. & Glen.. & Ross.
Two thumbs up..
The first one was okay.
-
Maybe. I'll put that up as a temp.

Having trouble with a name for this place, so any suggestions are welcome.

I've written quite a few mini tutorials, most of which are hidden to the general public. I'll post some of these. The good news is, I've decided to start this up after some of the feedback from other sites.
-
Oh, didn't notice that. XD Ty.

I've been posting this around on every forum I can think of that it would apply to, and I've been wondering.
How much interest would there be in a forum dedicated to a texture artist's trade? It'd be hosted on purpledesignstudios.com, likely with a co.nr domain tacked on for looks. I searched Google backwards for a texture artist's forum and they just don't exist. Plenty of 3D forums to go around, and graphic art forums are a popular topic, but ours is a delicate industry, being able to think of how to convert a 3D model into a 2D image. Not a lot of graphic artists can do that, and most 3D artists use unwrapping tools to accomplish that.
Possible Forum Structure

- Paint.NET
[*]The Billboard - for ad space

- Showcases - for game/mod showcases and whatever else
- Portfolios - posting links to your site and all

And then of course staff forums. We'd use phpBB 3 for this hypothetical forum because it's my favorite, so lemme just dictate that right now.
Any comments, concerns, ideas?

Acceptable, sure, I just hope it isn't monotonous. Maybe they should show a briefing video or something during the load, just to keep interest. I hate how in Halo 3 there's nothing to do while you wait (even though the baggage isn't too bad).
-
I'm not really big on fantasy RPGs and the like (the exception being first-person shooter/hacker games, like Project Offset), but I read some of your other posts. Urban Terror is fun and all, but it runs kinda slowly on my comp, even though I supposedly get 132 FPS. Maybe it's just the fact that I'm online. Nj on that win btw.
-
Yeah, and that was in 2005, and the technology has obviously increased since then. The only problem I see in store is intense loading times.
I'll get this for 360 when it comes out, so hardware shouldn't be a worry of mine.
-
Lol, the official most excited person about Spore. Right up there.
-
Yeah, I'm kinda proud of my cigarette texture.
-
Oh I know. I just don't like the fact that someone felt the need to try and change it, regardless of just how well that worked.
AD: Anno Dominius, the year of our Lord.
I've got nothing against you or Alemanus, or anyone who prefers to use CE over AD. I've just recently grown to become more annoyed by all this political correctness stuff.
-
CE and BCE are the most ridiculous interventions I've ever heard. What was wrong with mentioning a specific person on whom we happen to base the calendar switch anyway? If you don't believe he was the son of God, at least recognize that he was a genius, and an incredible public speaker, very much deserving of such a title.
And to be most accurate, you'd call it 0 AD. because that's the name of the game. AD. 0 or anything of the like doesn't sound quite as compelling.
Suggestions for 0 A.D.

Regenerating trees has to be the greatest idea that has ever been thought up for an RTS, but sadly, it's hardly ever done. I know what justifies it, but suppose you were to limit the number of surrounding trees so that they don't grow so fast that they fill the map by the end of the game. Like minesweeper, only with a forest.
Unlimited mines might not be a good idea, but I agree that a resource like stone should be abundant.
