    With this Poll , you can easily communicate the results of the matches/round ..  Please answer this poll  ONLY  when you lost (and thus, finished) a round.   The player who lost the round will communicate the results with a single answer(no multiple choices) and the winner will answer this poll later (once he lost a round or won the tournament)

    I made the poll for the sake of transparency and make organisation easy !

    Suggestion For the random selection. I have this method i invented  .  Put the 16 players in a lobby room and ask them to pick an unique number (1 to 16) 

    .  Ask an innocent referee outside the lobby room to randomly order number  1 to 16  . Lets say he order like this   13 , 9 , 8 , 10 , 6 , 2 , ... ,   15 , 14  .     Then the referee comes into the room and communicate to the 16 players  the 16 numbers in the order he choosen.  (of course he cannot know which number the players have selected)

    It means that the player who choosed the number 13  will be Player 1  and will  fight Player 2 which  is the player who choosed the number 9 ,      ..  8 vs 10 ,  6 vs 2 ..   15 vs 14

    Just coming back with the subject for 0ad23.  

     

    Introduction :   Do you notice in a team game (for exemple) that some players are very good to play with absolute no considerations for their alliy (allies) and play for them selves , resulting in behaviours such as  : building defences just 10 meters away from the battle you are fighting in,  the very same battle you cross the whole map to get in, in order to save him. As a result, he often let you fight 2 vs 1 and total ignores the dynamic of numbers in a fight (lanchester law) and the fact that those towers will be totaly useless if you fail to defend him.

    Results : While you exhaust your whole eco and lose your whole army, that same ally can finish the 2 weakened ennemies, kill all their workers, destroy buildings with rams  .. and.. get the highest military at the end of the game ; and all the glory.

    Observation : the current score system doesnt take into account the time ; in other words : 100 kills at min 5  = 100 kills at min 20.

    Simple idea The graph tab shows the evolution of the score.  Why dont we take the "area under the curve" (AUC) (the integral in math)  as new score  (a new tab in the stats)?  Early success in the game will have an score impact all along the game.  This should be easy to implement as it could be computed at each event (+1 kill) just like it is for the graph.

    Derivated idea : If you divide the military AUC of a player  by the  AUC of the whole team / number of players in the team , the you can have a good indicator of performance of that player as his military activity is compared to the average AUC of the team  (on the military aspect , but could be done for the eco as well)

    are u telling me that i have to waste my whole day uploading the tons of games i just won u ?      

       In this game,  you knew u gonna lose slowly and the pressure made u want to ban me. I remember you setted the game with the size of the game, you made it rated, etc .. so dare u to ban me ?

    As everybody can see (in the  2 files)  your only strategy is to eco boom , then send all  ur army to me and cross your fingers it works ..  if it fails (in most of our games)  you generaly quit the game by saying you are bored ( demonstration in the first file) .   You are getting made because I  "run everywhere"   its  the way to compose with time instead of sending all in deseperation.

    We argue coz you are maybe the player who has the highest capacity of lying  with no shame in the lobby even if there were witness.

    Minoans ..  very old civ ..   too old for 0ad ?    (-500 BC  to  0 AD)  .   Minoans should come along with old Egypt,  Mycenians, Hitties, Sumerians and Babylonians

  6. I can't say if Bolts shooters became relevant to use in 0ad22 as much players still never use them ..   though, some other cav spammers prefer to ban them from the game (guess why).

    All the concept of balancing a game is to give  ++ and -- for each units and ensure none units are OP enough to turn them into a the unique unit used in an army ( and yes, i see some players destroying a CC with skirmish-cav !).  If players starts to use only 1 or 2 units in the game, there's evidence of bad balance.

     

    So what about bolt-shooters ?    -->  I think they should punish only ennemy players who rely on a bunch of ranged units packed together .  For that :

    • Range: bigger than any archer units; if the range is lower, than the deployment time to re-engage acts too much like a penalty and thus, there is no cover for the protected melee units.
    • Accuracy:  pretty low, to avoid OPiness of the Bolt its important that the Bolt have success to create damage only if the enemy units are packed together ; target missed but other killed
    • Projectil speed:  low,  moving targets should dodge the arrow easily ;  immobil units (so those firing) should be subject of having the heavy arrow in their face
    • Splash : no splash, doesnt work like a catapult ; 1 arrow go through 1 body, not many bodies  -> splash is non-sense
    • Damage :  total annilation ;  1 hit should kill 1 elephant or almost (moving elephants might be more lucky). No crush damage, Bolts should NOT replace catapults !

    Since some players are usualy doing straffing with 1 unit , here the bolt player can select a target among the bunch behind to hit direct without being fooled by moonwalk

    Summary : So what should be the use of bolts ?    -->  Should be used to defend a position against a bunch of ranged units spamming arrows on our units AND/OR  used to kill some elephants and rams in their crushing CC activities. As the bolt should have no crush power, it might not be used to replace catapults while sieges.  The bolt could be used as an effective defence for some workers (especially for females) against ranged rushers as it can kill ennemy unit 1 by 1 (unlike towers which send some random arrows a bit everywhere ; lowering health without killing much).  A moving army in expedition could bring a 1 Bolt or 2 to be used as an effective umbrella against all the annoying ranged units willing to kill sieging units 1 by 1.

    Player 1 = Hannibal  ,  Player 2 = Maharbal , Player 3 =  no hero , Player 4 =

    District 1 : Rich merchants - Only boats and units from Fortress  but also 2-3 inner traders

    District 3 : Religious and big Gardens - only units from Temples -   They wait a enforcement of their army with the arrival of their Hero --> Hannibal

    District 2 : Administrative center of the city -   with carthage embassy

    District 5 : Something between District 2 and 4 with lot of barracks.

    District 4 :  Very poor but well populated with ressources productors . Maybe i should give them them only wooden walls

    Zone 6 :  The place where the mercenaries of Carthage stay -  their territoiry is annexed to Carthage as long as they stay loyal to Carthage.  Being ally with that army  will cost ressources every second and he can even ask to Carthage even more (otherwise they will betray in favor of Rome). If Carthage notice susipicious activities (like building a CC of their own) Carthage will remove territory annexion so mercenaries's buildings will turn gaia before Cartage will crush the mutinery (unless its too late for Carthage)

    Zone 7 :  Rome will come by waves (like survival of the fittest ) from zone 7 but also by sea.   Rome will try to set a basement on lands

    Yes , a scenario map with some scripts features

    Indeed,  1 district  will be oriented  on food production with some farms and wood gathering on north of the map (south in the real world) so , that why this map has to be decorated with fauna and vegetales .  Carthage has to hunt down quickly stuff out there before Rome heavy army come surround the city .  Basically, it will looks like a "Survival of the fittest"  in which Carthage has to survive with few ressources and many attacks + Carthage has to feed his inhabitants and will lose 50-100 food every second. If it reaches 0 , Carthage will not be able to produce new units.

     But Rome cannot siege too long as Hannibal  will come back  with his army .. at minute x

    One district (the east one) will be multi-cultura and full of immigrants and mercenaries.. This monument is kinda Baal worship of Golden calf      עֵגֶּל הַזָהָב

    too bad ?  :)   i think that know with scripts and camera scenes,   the game could have a more deep scenario layer.  A campaign mod would be a serie of scenario maps.   i.e the punic wars.

    Carthage  : 7 players of 50 pop limit  -->  6 districts +  1 army of 50 mercenary champs

    VS  

    Rome :   1 player  of 500 pop limit  mostly invading by sea (like survival of fittest)    +  nubians troops coming from desert

    I'm using the elevation terrain hack to put some buildings on top of others and make them look like merged in order to have unique structures

    (below, the 5 houses produces those 5 females with no evacuation problem)

    Rome will invade with RAMS, but will not be able to crush the Carthage walls everywhere  (terrain elevation as unbreakable wall and platform for bolt-lozaa )

    If Rome is in the walls ..   Some places will be used to make good retreats for those 5 noobs

    Even if the map could be used to be playable, i want to go into the new camera function in 0ad22  to make great cinematics in the narrow streets of carthage during invasion action .

    (to make a SUPER promotional trailer of 0ad)

    Also, for the sake of global interests, it would be nice to have a 3D map of carthage which could be used , i.e , for any TV documentary

    For this,  Carthage has to be fulled with contents to give it a living appareance.
