There isnt much I can do for floral decorations on the inside without textures of some sort
-
This alright? I added a little low poly stupa thingy in there too and fixed the back up a bit

===[COMMITTED]=== Mauryan Docks and Ships
LordGood replied to Mythos_Ruler's topic in Completed Art Tasks
My brains are a heap of scrambled eggs, I've literally been sitting here modelling for the past two days need sleep must.... model.... one more I'll refine everything laterr -
The best thing you can do is practice. Also the secret to Sketchup is in the use of Components, they let you work on multiple areas of your model at the same time, which is an incredible time saver. Once you know the basic workings of the program, you will eventually find out how to carve hours out of a long painful model construction, believe me, I've been doing it for about four years now. If you find lots of different parts of your model are sticking together, seperate them into groups, since they are easier to manage. I hope this helps you out, cheers! and good luck!

I pulled absolutely no historical anymcdoohickies out of anywhere for this, Im just going off of the style of my last projects. Enrique your's is much more well modelled, but it looks a little too... 'happy' in my opinion. I have no idea how to make a Mauryan building look 'strong' so I just threw in some wall crenellations
-
Thanks Enrique er, do we know which model we're committing? It seems the wooden one has the most favor at the moment~
-
I don't have UV mapping in SU, I'm placing these planes manually, there isnt much I can do about it
-
I manually adjusted the textures myself, the default system doesnt work too well on curved planes
-
I'll finish texturing my other buildings first, then perhaps I'll tackle that one
-
Something like this? I sort of just shoved the decor out of the way to make room
-
Thanks I can't build rigged or organic models in sketchup, not very efficiently at least. I'll probably stick to buildings
-
The back is a little bland, I pulled out the wooden beam a bit
-
Thanks! I am using sketchup It's a lot faster and easier than blender, right up until texture application ahaha I think the stone structures look best, but we're going for a historically accurate game, and I suppose wood was the dominant building material And I think the semicircle would fit in nicely with the Carthaginian temple, which happens to have one in the front rather than the back
-
Alright, more wood with the back wall set back further
-
Have a more wooden structure and set the columns a little further from the walls-
-
I modeled the columns after these at temple 17 are these of the wrong time period? Im not much of a Mauryan history buff if you havent guessed xP
-
The temple complexes were carved stone for the most part weren't they? I figure the wooden structures would be more about the houses, mills and such
-
We took a few... artistic liberties... to spice up the model a bit This texture pack is amazing! Thank you!
-
Ohh the texturing really slows me down, anything for the pediment area?
-
Took out a few polygons and pointed the roof a little bit, set the wall back. The columns are engaged in the references though, Ludo I could stretch the truth a bit, if you prefer
-
So more like this? It really hikes up the polygon count, but it was pretty light beforehand anyway, this should be alright
