  1. "Sparta: Ancient Wars" does something like this. Usually a cavalryman is killed, but his horse lives and you can then place an infantryman on the captured horse. I dont think we'll be doing things like that for 0 A.D. Such a feature is better for RPGs and such games, whereas we want to focus on mass battles and skirmishes.
  2. I wasn't aware that there is an AOM2. But certainly the game will have formations that pass on specific bonuses and weaknesses. But troops won't have "morale." You will always have direct tactical and strategic control over your units. They won't "run away" from you as in the Total War series.
  3. Hey howdy hey. From the AOE3H boards, right?
  4. Unknown at this time. As big as we can make them with minimal lagtime. Hopefully AOK size.
  5. There are none. Game's not finished.
  6. Plunder would be like 10 Food and 10 Metal... not huge amounts here.
  7. Right, I understand what you're asking about now. Ours will be freely placed, like AOM or AOE3, because we have a 3D game like those two games. AOK was a 2D game, which required such rigidness in its art assets. Also, Towers, Walls, and Ships will allow players to garrison/prop infantry (melee and ranged) units onto them. Hope that's satisfactory.
  8. I dont see what the difference bwteen AOM and AOK wall constuction is. In both game the play clicks a start point then drags the wall out to an end point.
  9. We have plunder. Kill a unit or destroy an enemy building you get plunder (this will be very important for the Huns civ in Part 2). You also get whatever resources the enemy trade cart was carrying if you kill it.
  10. Similar to "Rise and Fall" and "Sparta Ancient Wars". But the one thing I didnt like about either title was that the ships seemed hard to control. Hopefully its something we can remedy. Shops will ram and fire at each other. Boarding will also be an option, with the strongest boarding party succeeding in taking over the weaker's ship.
  11. No taxes. We're going more for the AOE route than the RON route economically.
  12. Your economy is as important as your military in the sense that everything will cost resources. If Econ management in AOK took up 50% of your time (roughly), then in 0 A.D. it'll be more like 40% of your time. Our resources are thus: Population: Most units cost 1 pop. A few cost more. Food: Hunting, Farming, Herding, etc. We have some cool thing splanned for Food gathering. Wood: Typical chopping trees, but we also have bushes for some variety. Stone: Gather stone from Stone Mines as typical for an RTS. Metal: Our version of "Gold", but makes more sense to us as game designers. Mine Metal from Metal Mines. Trading and Bartering (selling resources at the market) will be a bit different than AOK too (one of Wijit's cool pet projects in the game design). I'll let you speculate about that. Similar, but different than AOK.
  13. The latest screenshot release gives the first glimpse of a semi-arid desert environment. And of course, it features some fighting action and some new gaia fiddly bits created by the art department. Enjoy the screenshot and be sure to leave a comment! Also, be sure to check out a bonus screenshot released on the Wildfire Games forums! Take a look at the screenshot and see how many 0 A.D. animals you can find!
  14. Got a screenshot Ima releasing for you guys. It'll be a little game. You'll see. Sometime tonight... (it's 3:30PM here)
  15. Some will be kind of emo. Others will have a jock mentality. Still others (in Part 2) will be goths.
  16. Thessalian cavalry were the best in the Hellenic world until Philip's reforms of the Macedonian army.
  17. We have thoughts of a server. Ideas get thrown around. But right now we're just beginning to delve into the multiplayer code. Unknown at this time whether we can swing a server, although it might not be as expensive as we all think.
  18. The Greeks used mostly (90%) Hoplites until the Persian Wars, where they learned the value of mixed-unit armies. Light troops (akontistes, psiloi, peltasts) were used increasingly during the Peloponnesian Wars. After the defeat of the city-states by Macedon, cavalry was increasingly used for more than just scouting and light raids.
  19. The Greeks used cavalry. Ever heard of Hyppikons, Prodromoi, Hetairoi?
  20. Animals will be biome-specific. So, you won't see lions wandering around Briton forests. The Cobra is on the right track.
