  1. Even things with espionage and the usage of terrain can be applied broadly. But that's not to say the Romans/West didn't have their brilliant tacticians either. Sun Tzu is just more famous.
  2. I could conceivably see an option in the menu to switch between different preset playlists of the game's music. Like, if you don't like the Greek music, change it to the Persian music or whatever.
  3. All kinds of buildings. Thing is we have to go a little ahistorical in order to make it plain to the player what the function of each building is. We export our meshes to Collada (DAE) format. DDS is our texture format as well. Nice animation by the way. The one criticism is the shimmering and occasional aliasing, but other than that it is fantastic.

  5. By a determined modding team, yes. However it's not something we require for 0 A.D., so we're gonna focus on all the other things that need done.

  8. First of all, it is not "censorship" since this is a private forum and you are all guests in our house. Secondly, more than half of our forum membership are legally children. Why risk raising the ire of parents? Our game will be rated T for Teen. And lastly, why should we bother having to ban people, delete posts, and all that when we can turn on the word filter with a flip of the switch? If you want to curse at each other there are other forums.

  10. We also made it even more implicit by renaming "ore" to "Metal", which represents iron, gold, silver, copper, etc.
  11. We kind of do this by representing settlements as wells for the player to claim by building a Civic Centre there. But as far as other factions and aqueducts? Hmm... perhaps Iberians and Celts can build wells and Eastern factions can build canals. Greeks built aqueducts, but they were simple clay underground water channels, not the giant stone ones made by Romans. But that could be represented some way.
  12. The name comes from a region of France, I believe, which has a definite spelling.
  13. There's a difference between a game entity and a game actor. An entity is an object that effects the simulation (game) somehow. An actor is simply visual. Birds will be actors that fly around but don't interact with anything else in the game world.
  14. I don't see why a helicopter unit would necessarily have to move up and down and all that. Except for the initial takeoff animation the helicopter can stay at the same height for the duration of its lifetime. Pathfinding would be tricky as you said so it would fly over things, but not bump into (or fly through) other helicopters. lol I think airplanes would have to be like "god powers" in the sense that you call an air strike and they attack wherever you point and click, but they are not controllable per se, so that pathfinding would be less of an issue, they being rarely seen anyway. I think it would take an intrepid modder in order to mod these capabilities into the game, because we certainly aren't gonna do it (there's no need for our game). But like I said it would certainly be something a good mod team could implement.
  15. Sorry... no buildable roads in 0 A.D. We'll have nice road objects you can place down in the editor for eyecandy, but that's it. Let's not make too much work for the programmers.
  16. No element in the game can be taken from another copyrighted work. Sorry. So, no Master Chief cheat.
  17. Technically you are correct, but the industry has settled on terms that we now have to use. lol RTS came before RTT and it was easier to just call the new sub-genre RTT instead of renaming the existing genre.
  18. We might make some aqueduct objects for the editor, but I doubt we'll ever give them a gameplay purpose. You might be able to do something with a custom scenario or modding to make them essential.
