  1. I know for sure we want to do at least a Tutorial Campaign. We might release additional single player campaigns with subsequent patches.
  2. Modders will easily be able to add units, buildings, and other things for sub-factions. In fact, I am including a few extra units and buildings that people can use in the editor for their scenarios.
  3. In Windows, to launch Atlas double click the atlas.bat file in the \system folder. I personally am going to create a few more maps for the OSers to play on here shortly.
  4. Great stuff mate! we might be redoing some of the Celt art, so this will be very handy!
  5. Okay, only if you code it and do the artwork. Deal?
  6. I think HCs would have worked better if there was some way to intercept HC shipments. That's what I envisioned when they first announced HCs and shipments for AOE3. All kinds of strategy popped into my head. The trade routes got my imagination fired up too, but imagine my disappointment when I finally got to play the game. I think HCs could work, but I think AOE3's implementation of them pretty much sucked.
  7. Skirmishers in AOK were good vs. archers, but other than that were nothing but cheap cannon fodder, which is okay. Skirms + Halbs were a pretty good combo when gold was running low.
  8. Excellent idea! And thank you Erik for such quick turn around on the suggestion.
  9. Who enlightened you to this falsehood?
  10. Persians or Greeks? hehe Quantity vs. Quality will also be a factor in our game. For instance, we are going to allow the Persians a 10%-20% population cap bonus, but consequently their units will be pretty weak and they'll have far fewer military upgrades than other factions (in this example, the Greeks). That's not to say they won't have a few really good units (chariots and elephants come to mind), but overall their focus will be economic, whereas a faction like the Greeks will have a standard population cap, but much stronger (and more expensive) units and a lot of military upgrades, and a not so great economy. So, it will depend on the player's playing style which faction he or she will prefer and which faction he or she will be able to utilize to its fullest potential. The hope is we can balance this. With the community's help, come Beta testing and beyond, I think we can do it.
  11. I'd try the WFG irc chat room to see if anyone has any ideas. Server: Quakenet Channel: #wfg
  12. It could very well have to do with the timer issue. We've had such issues in the past. Jan or Philip will get back with you (I am merely the Art Dept Lead).
  13. I am glad this was resolved. And painlessly too! ;D
  14. Yeah, that's basically the reason cavalry is so effective against ranged units.
  15. More likely a ranged soldier would just run away. Hence, currently all ranged units have a minimum range, so that they run away if their targets get too close (like skirmishers in AOK or ranged units in RTW).
  16. Home Cities could be good for 0 A.D., but for right now they are too much work.
  17. I think the point is you want to build Mills for the gathering aura boost. You'd only ever not build a Mill for this boost if you didn't have enough resources for it. If the benefit is only 25%, then you might be tempted just to forgo the Mill altogether. We want people to build the Mill. But we could allow them not because certain situations arise (like you run out of Wood and you can't build one and there's no other way to get wood).
  18. How about the vills can gather anywhere on the map, but at 20% speed. Within a gathering aura it's 100% speed. Just throwing ideas out there.
  19. Well, also there are two instances of celebrities recently that have died due to "minor" bumps to the head. They felt fine, refused to see a doctor, then died the next day.
  20. Perhaps Google Translate has some kind of extension we can put on the site for various languages.
  21. The reason we use gathering auras in the first place (ex: Mills, Farmsteads, and Civic Centres) is to cut down on pathfinding. We'd much rather use those CPU cycles for other things. Maybe someone else will have thoughts on your other ideas.
