  1. I certainly agree that at least for 0 A.D. Part 1 that individual soldiers should be individual and separate entities from their comrades. But in battle, and if the player wants it to be so (and there will be benefits of doing so, so they should), then soldiers should act as part of a coherent unit when placed into a formation.
  2. The one featuring Akon is a riot, and very catchy. I've definitely heard it before (and I bought the MP3). The Jack Sparrow one I'll check out later. Thanks!
  3. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
  4. There has to be a benefit to formations, or else there is no reason to include them. For the benefits to make sense, those units in a formation have to act coherently or the illusion is broken.
  5. 0 A.D. =/= Age of Empires clone. AOE inspires 0 A.D., but we are not recreating it. Just wanted to mention that.
  6. Hmm. We're going to be working on Persians next. How about a siege ram?
  7. I read that Hannibal's Gallic troops wore capes, so I gave them capes!
  8. We've already included a lot of extra stuff that's not normally build-able or used in-game. Take a look in Atlas. Let me give a brief rundown: Entities// gaia/special_ruins gaia/special_treasure_ ____ x10 other/bench other/bridge_hele other/bridge_wood other/cart_tophet other/celt_homestead other/celt_hut other/celt_longhouse other/column_doric other/column_doric_fallen other/column_doric_fallen_b other/fence_long other/fence_short other/fence_stone other/hellenic_epic_temple other/hellenic_propylaea other/hellenic_royal_stoa other/hellenic_stoa other/obelisk other/palisades other/plane other/pyramid_great other/pyramid_minor other/special_treasure_shipwreck other/special_treasure_shipwreck_debris other/table_rectangle other/table_square other/unfinished_greek_temple structures/rome_arch units/cart_sacred_band_cavalry units/celt_fanatic units/mace_argyraspis units/mace_champion_infantry_sele units/mace_hypaspist units/noldor_ship_bireme units/pers_war_elephant units/rome_centurio_imperial units/rome_legionnaire_imperial units/rome_legionnaire_marian units/samnite_skirmisher units/samnite_spearman units/samnite_swordsman units/sparta_hellenistic_phalangitai units/thebes_sacred_band_hoplitai units/thespian_melanochitones units/thrace_black_cloak We'll definitely add more units and heroes and extra buildings before we go Gold. Above and beyond what you'll find in the campaign(s). I couldn't see not having Julius Caesar and other characters like that. Do you have any special requests?
  9. It would be more like Rome:Total War (organized formations) than Battle for Middle Earth II, where there are only groups, not formations.
  10. Hey broseph! Do you have any late updates on this script? I'd really like to include this in Alpha 7, which will be released soon. You'll be credited in the release notes and announcements. Regards.
  11. Thanks guys! With Alpha 7 so close, I'm going to finish up the rest of the map and include it in the release. You will all definitely be credited in the release announcement and in the map's in-game description!
  12. I was thinking once you form a control group, then that group stays and fights in formation. Click one and you select them all, like Rome:Total War or Battle for Middle Earth II. Not only do you get the ease of control (control tons of units with just a few clicks) and formation bonuses, but you get the benefit that no single soldier (specifically heroes) within the formation can be singled out by the enemy for focus fire.
  13. Nice. I would recommend that the buildings all face the bottom right corner. This is the default "front" for all of the buildings. It may (or may not) also help pathing if all buildings faced the same direction. Just an observation. I'm glad you're still working on this! Can't wait to try it out.
  14. (Sorry to viewers in Germany who won't be able to see it) NICE! Hmmm, maybe put some towers on that special project you've been working on. Prolly as standalone objects. ;) Or maybe we can use
  15. ESO was okay, but kind of frustrating in its "simplicity." I liked the MSN Gaming Zone when it was up and running. I liked seeing the different rooms in a graphical interface with info buttons, rather than a simple list that told you very little (ESO). I liked ESO's quick-match system for ratings, though it was way too easy to create smurf accounts.
  16. I chuckled at this: Rest assured, we are working on some Carthaginian siege equipment:
  17. Currently spinning on M-R's turntable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3kALKf9oUY
  18. The uploader has not made this video available in your country. Da frack? Nobody makes me bleed my own blood! Nobody!
  19. Yeah, I'd imagine.... -- The Tech itself, Divide et Impera, would cost a lot of resources to research. -- Each use of the ability costs a lot of Metal resource. -- Each use would require a cool-down time. So, there are easy ways to balance this. Also, it is worth nothing that Part 1 has no Centurions. lol
  20. That's fine. I could see us running this script after each Alpha/Beta, then after each post-release patch. It would be interesting (for number nerds) to see the historical changes. It would be cool to have tabs that allow the viewer to tab between Basic, Advanced, and Elite. Not sure if the wiki format can do this though. And some Champion units have upgrades as well (Hypaspists -> Argyraspides). This is great stuff, though. Keep it up!
  21. Pergamon, you mean! Awesome video! Watched it in 1080p!
