What Should New Players Know When Starting This Game?

Oh, it's also linked in the thread you linked to. Most relevant quote is this: -

Is it even known already if and which new Civ 0.29 will have?
- Today
-
For R29, my final suggestion would be Canaan
-
For R29: - Cantarella - Camellya - Carlotta - Calcharo - Ciaccona @Arup I think you can see where this is going ... Then R30 will obviously be 'Diana'

0 A.D. also has auto-train feature. It's marked by an infinity sign in the status panel when you select a production building. Clicking on that after you set your queue will automatically produce the queued units, as long as you have enough resources. It can help you in the mid game if you struggle with keeping up with macro. -

@DesertRose you are right, the tutorial needs to be improved. We need to make the tutorial informative enough while not carrying too much information so that the new players can be onboarded without getting stressed out. The best way to achieve this is by making 3 consecutive chapters that allow them to take a break in between. The only comment I have is the batch size. There are many mathematical studies in this topic somewhere on the forum and I remember reaching a conclusion of 2 by 2 on auto train being the best. -

https://www.anasynthesis.co.uk/index.php/nike/the-temple-of-athena-nike I'm thinking it would be possible to use the current Athenian temple models as a basis for the Temple of Athena Nike. Athena Nike would be narrower and the columns would be skinnier. It would also have nicer sculptures at the top. I think the structure would be overall about 80-90% the size of the buildable temple and would have the white rooftiles of the Parthenon instead of the brown tiles of the standard temple. It would also have the bronze gates inside of the columns in front of the door.

Cough* look at the date. Make it "Sussus Alteratior" then again, you involving yourself in there is already enough.
-
Never tried but perhaps yes, to avoid you know.. incompatability, since it needs only 1 commands.txt file. Edit: Whoops I mean't to edit my comment not make another one.
-
Lol if you mean mine, just remove bracket and set it to "commands.txt" in a saparate folder. For me now, I know how to correctly do it following @Deicide4uof putting it in zip folder, then again will it be seen by your system? I'm sharing a zip file of a recent MP match I played, let me know if you can see it. Nah I'd Win.zip
-
Forgot to mention it but that's also something I tried. Do I need to make a new folder for each new replay? That's something I have not tried, but no, the replays do not appear in-game. Not even as not compatible.
-
In case you don't see it, don't forget about turning off Filter Compatible Files and setting Single-Player to Any.
-
0ad/replays/0.28.0/some_folder should work. Are the replays compatible with your version of the game? You need to have the same mods enabled as the person whose replay you intend to watch.
-
I have a command.txt of another player. I put it into 0ad/replays/ Doesn't appear in-game. I put it into 0ad/replays/0.28.0/ Doesn't appear in-game. I put it into 0ad/replays/0.28.0/2026-03-09_0005/ Doesn't appear in-game. Where must I place the command.txt so that the game finds it?

What Should New Players Know When Starting This Game?
DesertRose replied to onghyr's topic in General Discussion
Something that's very badly explained in the tutorial: Civilians, or formerly Women, or the unit that costs 50 Food, gathers Food twice as fast as Citizen or Citizen soldiers, or the unit that costs 50 Food + 50 other resources (often 50 Wood). They gather animals at the same speed. Said Citizen gather Metal and Stone twice as fast as Civilians. edit: Not twice as fast but 43% faster. Still much faster, though. Civilians and Citizen gather Wood almost at the same speed. Cavalry can gather Food from animals. And they do it 5 times faster than Civilians and Citizen. So, different from many other RTS games, in 0AD more military = more economy. A Barracks does not mean you are gearing up for war, it's to build up your economy. That's a shift in mindset that took me a few games. Another important gameplay aspect that is iirc only briefly mentioned in the tutorial, if at all: Producing units in batches increases production speed. Because of that you should always produce units in the biggest batches possible regarding resources and free pop space. Set the value for batch sizes increases from 5 to 1 to make sure you can maximize that. Once you have multiple buildings try to train units from all buildings in roughly the same batch sizes to maximize productivity.
